Nice way to get the shavings into the valve bodies. Use masking tape to cover the valve bodies before threading.

Imagine your transmission lines leaking cuz you forgot the flared adapters you fix that then some how a bolt is stripped then making the pan leak now 😂 I swear my obs 4l60e is nothing but problem after problem after I fix one thing it’s a other with this damn truck it’s lucky it’s a nice show truck if not I would of sold this mf years ago first tranny had 1st gear only and now this is a new used tranny from my pops shop only my luck man hope a tap and die set fixes it

I’ve got 2 perimeter pan bolts with stripped threads on the holes in sequence on my Toyota u151f trans the rest of the bolts are tight and there is only a drip from the area where those two are. I want to do the repair without removing the pan. Was thinking of stepping up the size of the hole and taping for m6x1.0 helicoils to use the same bolts. So if I could find a 15/64” bit I can hog the hole out a little then step up to a 1/4” bit before using the bit that comes with the helicoil kit that should be closer to 7mm / 35/64” I was also planning on using a wooden jig to keep the drill bits perfectly perpendicular as well as opening the hole on the pan a little more with a dremel bit so the tap doesn’t catch on the pan. Is this a recipe for disaster? Also why didn’t you just use helicoils / thread repair sleeves or just use a bolt that fit the initial tap? Seems overly complicated

@@TheBlindReaper any coil insert is a Helicoil there is a specific name brand but they are all the same. I just repaired my stripped transmission pan bolt holes with a kit made by bilitools I got on Amazon for $13 and it worked like a charm. The tab broke on a task where the material was steel but worked well for aluminum.

@@TheBlindReaper I also did it with a drill/driver set to setting 12 for the tapping but cranked up to about 16 to drill out the bad threads. Many people told me I had to remove the pan and in hindsight that would have been a safer bet but I had no problem doing it my way and saving 2.5 hours of labor.
