I stripped paint out of these intricate carved details using my Hart 4V Power Scrubber & refinished it in a faux light wood with Retique It Liquid Wood.

Love how you did this piece! 😍 I used to have so much trouble with glaze! It’s still not my favorite to do, even though I love how it looks when done right. One thing I have learned that makes it easier, is to apply an even layer of topcoat BEFORE the glaze. It helps the glazing medium to glide and not “grab” in spots. Then I seal as usual. If for some reason I can’t use a spray gun to seal ( if I didn’t own a sprayer, or wasn’t comfortable using one) I’ll use a can of spray sealer to lock in the glaze before using a couple of additional coats of brush or wipe on topcoat.

I am ALWAYS wondering WHO in the hell and WHY in the hell someone somewhere once THUNK a FLATHEAD screw was even a tiny bit of a good idea. Every time I come across a FLATHEAD screw used on a project I am reminded how much they SUCK and the silly SUCKER who THUNK em up! I've enjoyed the few videos I've watched since coming across your Channel very much. Very thorough and knowledgeable. Your attention to detail and quality and Perfectionism are things I make sure to do my best with. They often go unnoticed or not appreciated. But others who do notice and appreciate those things like you and I. Know the extra value and see the greater worth. Your work is gorgeous and very well done. I see the value and worth in you and your work. I look forward to seeing future projects and more videos. GREAT JOB -JD Taylor Great J

I just subscribed after coming across one of your other videos. Very nice work. FYI I live in an area where I get a lot of wind like you had this day so I put on the chemical and cover it with plastic right away while it does it's job and then peel it off as I go while removing it. This way it doesn't get all dried on the piece.

So pretty with this glazed color. Is it water based glaze? Never thought to use a wet rag instead of dry. I was impressed with how well the scrubby attachments worked on all that detail. I am considering some sanding attachments brushes that go on a drill that work in a similar way to get into the detail work.
@flippedbyabby

That will definitely work on a drill as well! Yes it’s retique wood n stain Barnwood but antique glaze will work as well!

i sat through the whole video, was about to give you advice but your mother took care of this. Quality of the Fuji vs the Wagner is night and day. My gun came with your standard 1 Qt bottom feed cup, I ordered a gravity cup also. I used the Qt cup for paint and gravity feed cup for top coats. (IE Lacquers Shellac Poly) you can add different size spray needles. take a minute and go watch a video on you tube on the Fuji. You won't be disappointed.

You made it elegant and very importantly you knew 1) when to pivot and 2) when to stop. Too often these pieces get too much bling added. They are dramatic for sure, but far less elegant. Great job! Continue to stretch and grow. And IMO you'll reach a wider market if you don't make every piece look like it came off an assembly line with massive machines replicating the same design over and over. You're more creative than you think!

That is a gorgeous piece! Love the hardware and everything else! Curious why you went through all that stripping when you were gonna paint it anyway? I would have painted over the exciting paint ( except the drawer sides of course). But, I’ll do ANYTHING not to strip I despise it so much! 🤣🤣🤣🤷‍♀️
@flippedbyabby
@flippedbyabby 4 месяца назад
My original intention was to strip it all the way down but that early 2000s mahogany finish was soooo tough (and it’s difficult to get to a light wood color). Also, I would start to lose those carved details with 5+ layers of primer & paint
