Strong old man uses vintage weights to blast arms in garden gym. Biceps and triceps workout ez bar curls close grip bench press alternate dumbbell curls overhead dumbbell triceps extension #armworkout #gardengym #oldmanstrength
I am nearly 79 yrs old first thing in the morning I do 100 press ups 100 crunches. Train one body part a day. No su supplements as I have ckd stage 3b. Been lifting all my life. Never give up. I still feel young 👍
Love how half your commenters are trying to give out "advice". I'm a qualified PT and been bodybuilding over 15 years, i think your form is absolutely fine. You're doing awesome. Plus, you know your own body better than anyone else, so keep doing what works for you! Ignore the armchair warriors...
@@cols-muscle-power it isn't wrong mate, you're doing just fine, he isn't worth your energy. some people appear to take pleasure in putting other people down... however this says a lot about them, doesn't it! ignore and keep smashing them weights
i am 64 years old been training since i was 14..have loads of old reg parks plates..about 40 plates all different sizes..also york plates and body sculpture ones ..nothing better than free weights ...got machines as well but free weights do it for me...nice to see old school body building....
I like this channel for a number of reasons. The rattle and clank of iron weights, the wholesome garden home gym, the fact that this shows that you don’t have to be a 20-something steroid junky to lift weights. It’s just an overall wholesome, encouraging, and satisfying channel. Thanks, Col. sub’d 👍🏻
I’ve been resistance training myself for over 40yrs, And I love basic calisthenic compound strength exercises, various grip push-ups, pull-ups, rows & dips, supplimented with resistance bands, dumbbells & kettlebells.
What an inspiration you are Sir! As a "sixty year old" who works out with free weights, (love those old York plates), I would like to say to all the youngsters: I do What others won't, so that I can do what others can't.
Excellent as a 50 year old who works out at home with old weight plates much the same as yours it’s nice to know I’ve got a few more years of working out ahead of me 👍at the end of the day your muscles don’t care if them dumbbells are vintage or shiny new Gucci ones . Peace brother
I am also an old man who works out in his backyard. I love free weights and I do all the old basic movements. Truly enjoyed seeing your approach. What do you do in the event of adverse weather (rain, cold, etc.)?
Great to hear from another old man who trains in the backyard. If its just light rain I normally get minimal kit out and do something. Heavy rain I don't train that day or go to the gym. In cold weather I put a jumper on 🤣💪🏻
Great to see this .im 54 ...been lifting since i was 14 .Never been in a gym...always home gym . .if im not lifting ,im running. Getting cardio up helps lifting..Recently bought a leg press ,never used one before ..so much better than squats .
Once lifting and training is in your blood you can't imagine life without doing it. I started at 11 doing bodyweight excersises. Chins, dips, press ups etc....Then got my first weight set at 13. I also train at home now it's been around 10 years. Trained at commercial gyms for decades but got fed up with people sitting on equipment for ages looking at there phones or just talking. I'm 56 now.
I keep expecting your missus to shout out the bedroom window if you got all this energy to sod about with weights you can get the fly-mo out the shed and mo the poxy lawn 😂
Get on bud! Just subbed! you making the back garden look like compton hood (I mean rustic and real if anything) 😂! There’s something about lifting RAW weights! Great effort!
@@shaunigothictv1003 you should start weight training bruh, new science research on male mental health shows males are at their most happiest when doing weights
@@GreyWolfFitness haha yes, before the days of Internet shopping. I remember buying them from a bodybuilding shop in Leeds City centre and struggling with them back to the car 🤣💪🏻
It definitely can be. I've found that by tightening them up all the way at the beginning, they loosen just enough as you're doing your reps to allow the plates to rotate properly. 👍
This old man is pretty impressive! Curling 40 kilos like its nothing, ofc its not much by nowdays bodybuilding standards and many can do it,but take a guy whose height is around 6 foot and never trained but is in his 20s:that kid is getting owned badly by this old man in a strenght contest. Unless the guy has good genetics, but you get my point
@KCBRYAN_1525 yes weight is weight, same gains will be made whether new or old weights. I'm not trying to say they have magical qualities or anything mate. I just think they're pretty cool. Just like some people like classic cars or antiques. That's all pal 👍🏻 💪🏻
I had York weights same as that in the early 1990s in my bedroom.had the bench preacher curl the lot from Argos. in 96 I started using the gym as my weights where Cracking the ceiling downstairs my mum would complain about it lol I maintain the gym throughout I went today in fact I’m now 52
@Victor-DOOM that's brilliant mate. I started lifting weights in my bedroom aswell when I was 12. That was 40 years ago. We are the same age Victor pal 💪🏻
@cols-muscle-power source abit of timber maybe 2 inches longer and wider than the leg of the bench, bore 4 holes into leg off the bench and screw it to the timber. Will be safer mate, just a wee tip 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Keep doing pushups rather than what you're doing, your pushing power should always be stronger than your curls etc... your curls are pretty impressive though at 20kg each arm!
Also, try one arm tricep extensions, they are more comfortable for me, although I still do get elbow pain, so much so it feels like it's going to lock up.
Cheers mate. My pushing power is much stronger than my curls, but I currently have an injury to my elbow/tricep area, so have to be careful with it at the moment 💪🏻
@cols-muscle-power Hi thank you for getting back to me I appreciate it , ok I see keep up the good work nice to see old school training without all this over complicated science
@@cols-muscle-power indeed cheat curls. Got ya. Well done keep it up. Only to be young again eh if I could turn the clock back oh say 40 years I'd be attempting these again. In the days I learnt this my instructor used to tell us to stay upright and only arm movement. All the best 🤠
I like to use them both steve mate. To be honest which ever bar you choose you can use poor form and cheating, doesn't really make any difference which bar. I like the ez bar because it's easier on the wrists 💪🏻
Yes i am same ,easy on the wrists. All my weights are old and a mix of kilos and lbs. I mainly do land mine and Dumbells .I am 83 lucky i have big garage 15 by 18 feet..mainly do 4 sets of anything i do. Did splash out on a set of adjustable dumbells. Go up from 5/7.5/ 10/ 12.5 /15 /17.5 kilos.@cols-muscle-power
@cols-muscle-power me and my uncle built it in 87 joined on to the house.Injust came indoors from a 45 min work out at 10.30 pm . Wife went to bed at 9 pm so can get on with it ,now shower and bed .Have a good one .Been working out with weights since 1963 .Can't beat the buzz as you know .All the Breast.lol ,
Using ya back to get the weight up= go lighter bro! Triceps you were bench pressing?? Triceps are secondry to make them primary the bar should meet on your forehead, seated bicep curl, swinging to get them up see a ove, why not go lighter and incline the bench so u dont cheat and mow your lawn ffs
@greighooper5295 cheat curls, so using a bit of body English is fine. Triceps, yes it's a close grip bench press a tricep movement that doesn't put too much stress on a recovering elbow injury. Seated biceps curls, not excessively swinging, perfectly fine. Sometimes I incline the bench if I feel like it. Today I didn't feel like it. Longer grass is good for wildlife, butterfly's etc ffs
U have injuries as you are going too heavy at your age I'm 54 I go lower weight slow good form reps, slow and steady 5"10" 78kg 10% fat, older gym rats will watch you and hurt themselves, age waits 4 no man !
@greighooper5295 I train heavy, (relatively speaking) because that's what I enjoy doing. If you train lighter and focus on isolation more then that's fine aswell. The main thing is that we're still training and doing what we love 💪🏻
Don’t agree with anything you’ve said Greig. Both kinds of curls were absolutely fine. He wasn’t trying to do a skull crusher so his triceps movement was absolutely fine. You’re a know it all but know a lot less than you think.
Most gains come from the eccentric part of the lift. If there's a bit of rock and roll in the concentric phase makes no difference. He's doing great and doing a lot better than if he was using girly weights with so called perfect form.
@@cols-muscle-power Even though those were cheat curls, you were going slow on the way down, which was great, must have gotten a great burn, well done 🇨🇦👏
