Ace! Thank you for taking the time to do this. I learnt loads going through that. Such a great solution for introducing melody to the Euclidean setting especially, had been scratching me noodle about that for a while. Pyramid is (still) an ace box, but it takes time to get fluent enough for it to be fun and quick enough to get a workflow.. great tips like this show that it's worth persevering!
True, but now you can use chords directly, without needing the harmonizer. And the Master Transpose track is new, and the only way you can actually have a chord progression ( as long as the chord shape doesn't change. no maj to min transitions )
Yes, the master track is great. Do you use this pattern-stuff? I am only playing live jams and like this mute/unmute style. Don't know how to use the patterns in this live situation. Then I have to make sequences and i am not spontaneous.
Great Oliver... I see you run a new version (chance effect has an extra parameter) on the 1.3 the note length does not work in the chance effect... keep them coming!
Once you understand the pattern/track/sequence navigation and selection process, and then how to program in either live or step mode, you’re good to go. After that you can start learning the midi FX and other stuff
Trying to learn and remember its function. Lots of Shifting and trying to remember where what is. Not sure if I have come across a couple bugs. A few times Hard Rec would not record over previous notes. After I recorded on a track, a different track I had already record on had a couple notes affected. As if a couple more notes were added at the beginning, messing up those tracks. It could have been my mistake, though I am not sure. I was running v.3.21 but before I switched off last night I upgraded to 3.22. I will try again today. My sequencing background has been using an MMT-8 as my sequencer for years and years. I have dealt with its limitations (8 tracks, can handle a max of 16 MIDI channels, have to store an external device for long term storage. I thought the Pyramid would be a decent "Upgrade" because it can store to SD card, has up to 64 tracks, has two MIDI DIN Outs to connect up to 32 instruments via MIDI connections. BUT comparing the two, the MMT-8 wins hands down when it comes to recording Parts (Patterns) and then chaining those together in Song mode to create a full song. Most videos of the Pyramid show people recording and running a continuous loop, muting and unmuting tracks. I have yet really to come across one that has a complete song sequenced that runs through an Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, etc. I came across your video and others which have been helpful in trying to grasp some of the functions of the Pyramid. Thanks for the reply.
I have an external controller, so I just hit the chord I want, in step or euclidean mode. I don't know how you do it without a controller, but I'm sure you can.
@@xdeville1 I guess part of my reply is that there is a lot of really good music done with the rs7000, and I have yet to hear anything compelling from the squarp. The only music I have heard from the squarp is extremely tedious and boring. someone like midera makes absolutley amazing music using the rs7000 as the sequencer, as well as several other people. I really want to like the squarp, but have heard nothing to justify its purchase.
@@xisotopex yes, only some boring "tutorial" videos from the pyramid out there. maybe it is too new and the gearhead just show of their new toys instead making real music vids with it.
