Hi Everyone! This week’s video is the long-awaited Q&A and the amounts of questions you all sent in is impressive. Honestly, I did not expect to have so many questions from you guys. I have received a bunch of questions regarding student accommodations and where I lived, what it was like, would I recommend it, etc. so I decided to make a whole video on the topic. Part 2 of the Q&A will be about everything else than accommodations so studying, med school related stuff, hobbies, and some other personal questions which comes out in a few days or next week - stay tuned for that. Some of you have figured out where I lived for my first year of medical school at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, but for those who didn’t, I stayed at Kavanagh Court Student Residences which is run by Uninest Student Residences. I decided to answer the accommodations question first as people need to book as soon as possible. I did a whole tour of my apartment and show you some common areas like the courtyard, laundry room and study room in the video linked bellow.

Disclaimer: the answers to your questions and views presented in this video are my own and are based on my own experience. Take everything I say in this video with a grain of salt. My experience might or might not reflect at all what other people have experienced or what you might experience in the future. Note that I’m quite sensitive to noise especially at night when I’m trying to sleep and if you’re used to living in a big city or near a busy street (which I’m not) then you’re probably used to experiencing traffic noise and probably won’t bother you as much as it bothered me.

Indeed thanks for your video. As suggested, if there is residence at the other side of the river, go for it. So would you recommend New mill or the Ardcairn House at zone 7 which are also managed by Uninest ?

I'm not famillair with those residences, but the other side of the river should be better!

Thanks! One question: is KC suitable to get on contact with people easily? Like are there a lot of first year students? A lot of party’s? And where the other students Irish or internationals/Erasmus?

Hey there, I don't really know, it depends on who you are and if you go out of your way to meet people. Due to covid there were no events but there were still some groups of people chilling in the courtyards despite the sanitary regulations. I have no idea who the other students are nor where they are from.

How is WiFi speed at Kavanagh Court? And what do you use/want to say about mobile network?
@ovimed
@ovimed 3 года назад
I can't remember the speed but its pretty good. I've rarely had issues to be honest. The mobile network connection is just as good as outside I guess haha

Hi Ovi! When you were in kavanagh court were all of your flat mates in first year too?
@ovimed
@ovimed 3 года назад
No, I was mixed with people I didn't know. No one was in Medicine.

Hi Ovi, do you know which flat has the rooms facing the outside of Kavanagh Court? Thx :)
@ovimed
@ovimed 2 года назад
I think in each flat some rooms are facing inside and some outside but I'm not sure. Ask them when booking

Hi there, I am thinking to buy a used car and live remotely. Is it easy to park in the college? Thanks
@ovimed
@ovimed 2 года назад
Are you talking about Trinity College? There is no parking as far as I know. Parking in general around the city is pretty hard to find and if you do find some, its really expensive. Everyone I know walks, bikes or takes public transport. There's loads of traffic in town as well so not sure if doing the commute by car on a daily basis is the best idea.

Hey what is a guarantor?
@ovimed
@ovimed Год назад
Someone who can guarantee that you can pay. Often like a parent or someone who lives in Ireland that you can list as a 'backup' and if for some reason you don't pay well the residency will go and ask them the money.
@StonedNoob
@StonedNoob Год назад
@@ovimed understood. Something similar to a sponsor. However is it necessary for the guarantor to be from or in Ireland? Also thank you for the quick and prompt response. If only the student accommodation reps were as quick😓🥲
@ovimed
@ovimed Год назад
@@StonedNoob I'm not sure if they have to be from Ireland, I guess it depends on the residence. Some residences don't even ask for one so you'll have to check with them... when they answer haha
@StonedNoob
@StonedNoob Год назад
@@ovimed haha yes I shall do that. Thank you for the info! Btw I’ve been reading up a lot and it seems Dublin has become quite dangerous (or maybe it’s the exaggeration of the internet/ subReddit). But I heard O’Connell street isn’t safe. And your accommodation was like quite near it. Did you ever face any incidents or felt unsafe? I’ll be staying at Beckett House which is right opposite K. Court
@ovimed
@ovimed Год назад
@@StonedNoob it depends where you're coming from but it is indeed quite sketchy on that side of the river like I said in the video.
