The location where the school is should be turned into a memorial garden with a fountain. I don’t blame the kids and staff for not ever wanting to set foot in the school again. My heart and prayers go out to the families of those who lost their lives especially the kids and my thoughts and prayers go out to those who were hurt and survived. The cops who refused to act right away should be ashamed of themselves.

I can't even imagine the horror and pain that these poor little children suffered through in their last moments. I can't even begin to imagine the overwhelming grief and heartache their loss brings to their families, to their surviving friends/classmates, and their communities as a whole. I’m so lucky to have never been in a situation where there was an active shooter in any of the school buildings I’ve been to. The fact that these KIDS have to go through it is just disgusting. With all of these shootings going on, I’m more and more anxious and worried that nowhere is safe. I even get anxious thoughts about a shooter going in my house at night! (Thank goodness for melatonin, otherwise I would never get a wink of sleep out of anxiety.) How has the world come to this?? Why is there so much ignorance in the world? Honestly, I’m surprised that nothing was being done long before this!! Heck, everyone says that something needs to be done about this problem, but no one actually DOES it. Not even the person with an idea to begin with! (And honestly, I would try to do something about this except that I don’t really have any “grand ideas” or anything. 😅) But back to the video, I’m so happy that no one has to go into that building again. No one, especially the kids, should have to relive that horrific day. Sending them internet hugs. ❤️❤️❤️

You aren't lucky to have never been in a mass shooting. It isn't luck to not have something extremely unlucky happen to you. Similar to how it would be misleading to say I'm lucky I've never been in a plane crash. Similar to school shootings, plane crashes are extremely rare occurrences. You aren't lucky lucky have never been in the midst of a school shooting, rather it would be extremely unlucky to be in the midst of one. No one seems to acknowledge just how astronomically rare school shootings actually are when put into full perspective. Hundreds of thousands of public schools exist in the USA. Where the home wasn’t beyond repair I paid the total cost of its replacement and limits on debris removal so as to have the home torn down. My claims director was not happy however after his boss found out he called me personally to say I made the same decision he would have made. @@TheOriginalCFA1979 for real, the police stood there for an hour doing absolutely nothing 😡. Not to mention they could've have sent 1 or 2 officers back to their patrol car to see if their were anything that they could use as a shield or even something to brake down the door. Here's what needs to change in schools nationwide to prevent these tragedies. 1. Give teacher that have passed a through background check permission to carry firearms in school premises 2. Give nationwide standarized training to teachers and administration for these types of situation 3. Have more police officers inside the school at all times. It absolutly disgusts me that only 1-2 officers are in a school building at a time to protect the hundreds to thousands of lives in there. It literally makes next to no sense. 4. Mandate ALL SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE to lock all of their doors when not in active use AND GET RID OF THOSE STUPID GLASS DOORS THAT CAN EASILY BE SMASHED. At the very least move to ethier heavy metal doors OR bulletproof glass. The reason why this type of shit happens in america is not because of the second amendment, it is WAY deeper than that. It is due to numerous factors including but not limited to - IMPROPER background check regulations and enforcment in our states on gun owners for things like mental instability and previous history. - the improper training of faculty in education facilites to help prevent these threats. - The jarring lack of security in a place that is supposed to hold and educate the future of our country. Like seriously, there are numerous stories of random people just WALKING through the front door of a school and going in pretending to be the sub for a class and not once do they get verified by the ACTUAL SUB PROGRAM WEBSITE THAT IS USED and that is just the tip of the iceberg with this shit.

Public schools in the USA should be as secure as a prison at this point. As much taxes we pay there should even be a watch tower with vetted armed guards looking over our children (20 bux an hour 5 days a week 8 hours a day isn't much to keep our children safe). Getting into schools should not be so different than getting on a plane these days(detectors and bag scans). Our society has mentally collapsed and some people are just savages waiting for the opportunity to inflict pain on people.

Dreaming Dreamer I agree with you 100%. Also...I looked it up (about Sandy Hook) to make sure I had the info correct. The shooting _there_ happened 12/14/2012. They wanted to build another school _elsewhere,_ but it was going to cost too much money, so they demolished the old school (where the massacre took place) and built a _new_ school on the same land. Construction began on the new school 3 & a half years after the massacre. They elected _not_ to have any kind of memorial in the _new_ school about the tragedy in the previous/demolished school. They completed the new school on a budget of $50 million. I think an on-sight memorial, honoring both teachers and all 19 children would be a beautiful addition to the new school in Uvalde, however I admit I'm concerned about how it would/might be a constant reminder to the children attending the new school, many of them who were _directly_ affected (survivors) by the tragedy last week. My heart was _already_ broken in a million pieces when I first found out about the massacre in Uvalde, but my heart absolutely shattered a few days later when the story came out about 11 year old Miah Cerillo who was in the classroom and smeared the blood of one of her friends, onto herself to pretend _she_ was dead, _too._ It's so disturbing knowing that we live in a world where an _11 year old_ would even need to think to do _that._ Anyways ~ I do apologize for my lengthy reply. 🕊️

Emotional stand point, it's reasonable to destroy the school. Logically, why? That's teachers and support staff that just lost their jobs. Small towns/ cities at most have two to three elementary school with limited space for those education staff that are now out of jobs. The logistics for the school board to have to add more buses to shuttle the students to other schools will be a nightmare. Only upside is the funding for the school board will be divided between less school buildings.
