I’m not sure why I’m watching your videos as I’m not a guy. I guess is the way you simplify fashion. And your personality. Also, your clear and concise delivery is exceptional. I wish we’d have some prospective for the ladies here. Many thanks for your videos, very pleasant to watch.

Other things men should know are their neck size (for shirts), their inseam (for pants), the difference between Short, Regular and Long (when it comes to suits, blazers and sport jackets). All this can be done by simply getting measured by a tailor.
@karlsenula9495
@karlsenula9495 10 месяцев назад
That can change by shirt maker. I was wearing 17.5 x 34/35 ... then went to a higher end menswear store last week and their shirts fit me at 18 x 33 ... but I had to go back three times because they kept measuring wrong. Now they didn't have my size and the right fitting one is coming in three days before I have to leave for a wedding ... still have to take it to my cleaner to have it cleaned and pressed when it arrives too 🤦‍♂️.

Only a small percentage of men and women will notice. Don't dress for others They dont care, nor will they appreciate it if you point it out. Dress well for your own personal set of standards.

Sometimes u can just try on different sizes of clothes in various brands without getting measured to find one’s size. But yes, eventually you’ll need a tailor for when it comes to altering your tops and bottoms

I’ll add one detail that men should never overlook: Shine your damn shoes! In my opinion, it is as important as wearing the right shoes. Whether they are formal or more casual, your look is going to be ruined if your shoes are scuffed up and dirty.

My hair finally started to turn gray-I look like Paulie Walnuts on the Sopranos now. Anyways since I’m not into the whole hair dye thing, I decided to change up my entire looks. Except the tattoos (zero regrets). I’m 35% of the way done with the transformation. I really am enjoying this change. Dressing my age. I’m 56. I look 46 snd feel like I’m 76. So far so good. People take me more seriously now. I’m a biz man and have never really had issues with that, however I can accomplish more faster. The girls like it a lot. I’m happily married, however it’s good to look good and feel that way as well. Thx for the help! 😃💪

And very important. If your favorite shirt (pants) are a little bit faded, toss them out. Everyone knows. Sometimes I buy 2 of my favorite shirts so that when one is looking old, I have a backup. There is nothing like the look of a crisp new pair of pants or shirt.

When it comes to color I have used an out of print book by Carole Jackson called Color For Men. It details a seasonal pallette for men according to 3 pre-requisites we were all born with that can't be changed--skin color,hair color and eye color(this is the reason in wearing a certain color or colors one might hear the phrase, "That color looks good on you." ). It is a book worth getting though out of print (publ. 1980s) if it can be found(btw, I am a Summer.) !

yes to unpick the vents and breast pocket on a jacket, but caution on the side pockets - I leave mine sewn up because it prevents you from using your jacket as a "purse with sleeves", filling the pockets with junk and ruining the clean line of your jacket!

Talking about timeless style...your watch is huge for your wrist. That Omega Seamaster 300 you are wearing has a lug to lug lenth of 50mm, which is usually good for people with 7.5in-8in or more. A watch is a jewelry accesory and to be fashionable, in a correct way, the bracelet has to be visible when looking from the top. For most average men, usually from 6in-7in the correct measures should be 36-38mm cases with no more than 44mm lug to lug lenth. That shows the entire piece, looks really classy and sets you apart from a fashion standpoint. Yours is a beautiful watch, no doubt, but since you always points out the importance of wearing clothes appropiate in size and fit, I thought it is ok to share that it also applies to accesories.

A properly tied necktie knot should be perfectly centered between the points of the shirt collar. An improperly tied knot will cause the entire tie to skew to one side and look sloppy. Learn to pinch the tie fabric as you tighten the knot to create a nice dimple. The dimple will actually help keep the hanging length of the necktie centered on your shirt.

The style secret I'm most interested in is where you got that shirt! Been looking for a casual black shirt like that for ages. The only ones I can seem to find are more of a dress shirt style, and they often have white buttons -- which may not exactly be be "1980's bartender" but it definitely gives me similar Chess King / Sopranos flashbacks.

Im not so sure about the darker shirt with the lighter tie being a problem, I wear a dark blue shirt that has a subtle grey faded small (1cm) square pattern, I pair this with a plain paisley type silk light blue tie ......... yes a little 1930`s gangsterish in look, but all the same stylish when worn with a dark grey speckled blazer and light grey chino`s looks great with two tone brown brogues.

At 2:10 I can remember once I bought a jacket and the pockets were sewn closed like that, I was so scared to open them up because I did not know they should be opened I left them that way for years on that jacket and anything else I bought going forward. A date once a woman thought I needed a pocket square and shoved the one I had on my pants pocket into the jacket pocket and the thread broke, I dont think she even realized what she had done and we went about our date...I went back then and read and learned and opened up all the pockets in my jackets and suits...It was 'freeing' to say the least.

why the hell do they make the collar stays removable? they didn't used to be that way.
@alberttang6955
@alberttang6955 9 месяцев назад
If the collar stay is permanently sewn inside, it causes a noticeable stay shaped indentation on each collar point when the shirt is pressed or ironed. A removable stay allows the collar to be pressed nice and smooth. Also, a plastic stay will deteriorate over time. If it's embedded inside the collar, it can't be easily replaced.

Dude’s ballin, but no wedding ring. Something is not passing the “sniff” test. A man on the back nine of life with all that style would have a trophy wife as a closing accessory. A ball cap is part of my look, no hatfishing necessary with a wife of 38 years that’s a hard 10. Give your style tips without ripping on some men.

Not sure what you’re getting at, but I just got out of something long-term. Not ripping on anyone, but some guys need more help than others, but thanks for your judgment. Congratulations on your long-term marriage. Consider yourself lucky.

'Nobody talks about this' Seriously? This is all the basic stuff every major style channel keeps mentioning over and over again. The first point is like saying removing the price tag from a garment is a 'subtle style secret'. Come on dude. Love the channel, but you gotta step it up a bit.

You cannot overemphasize details - little things mean a lot. Forty years ago I bought a book called Dress For Success by John Malloy. It's outdated today due to different styles, but the author emphasized things like you do John such as details, tailoring and color combinations. I may have to buy a Slick collar.
