sometimes the ones assigned to the artists are attorneys who work for the label as a conflict of interest....just stay independent if u want full control

That’s incorrect. They get their masters back in 20 not the publishing. Niggas like Berry Gordy and Russell Simmons got publishings of some of their artists still 40-50 years later. The masters and publishing are two different things.

When I say that I mean this puff could've given them the value when it matter, but if under contract he don't have to, their short ( Mama house). Curry saying give me the money and let me do me shouldn't be a problem. It gives him his freedom, ANNND, the important part out of this is, Puff gets good reviews from old artist, even if deep down in the soul they don't feel that way, they won't say it in front of media. Keeps puff name in good graces ( restaurant) 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@radio3976 neither! Mama house or restaurant, Curry’s house as a grown man, who signed a contract over 20 years ago. Be it good or bad contract. It’s a contract Curry signed, it’s the music business! Key word Business. Puff doesn’t have to give any former Badboy artists nothing but what’s in the contract, it’s business. So when he do decide to give it to them, take and go get your hustle on. Don’t look at the food being given and say naw I don’t want the food, give me the money! My question is has the label heads of DefJam, Sony, MCA, Motown, Epic given all their Artist their publishing rights back? I don’t know just asking, the only name I ever heard is Diddy, how about Clive Davis, LA Ried, Birdman or is Badboy the only Label with Publishing issues with Artists! I’m just asking?

@@KBNE0824 It's only Puff because after the contract expired he still owed money but took forever to pay. Alicia Keys don't sound like she had issues with Clive. Ice Spice just hopped in the Game, and she own everything, so at the end of the day it depends on who owns your label. If he gave everyone the catalog back, might as well give Mark Curry what he asked for. Puff worth almost 1 billion curry asked for a cash out. That cuts everything you have with an employee. You ain't never gotta see them again after that.

What yall dont see is.. YES this is standard industry practice from Puff.. Its 100% legal, they signed those deals.. But that make Puff no better than Jerry Heller.. Dre, Master P , Eminem, Jay Z and others all managed to make crazy money and still look after the artist.. Not one Bad Boy artist supports Puff and if BIG were here.....

Well, here's the thing. What good is publishing when nobody's buying music anymore? What good is publishing in this current streaming era? Gon curiously wait until the music industry is no longer a lucrative business to release artists they publishing back. Folks listen to music right here on RU-vid for free which is why so many artists done threw in the towel. Artists are podcasters and chefs right nah. Ain't nobody foolin' around w/ music no more. Too little too late. Puffy has a new LP coming out pretty soon. He'll probably just end up buying his own music or rigging the charts in order to save face. Puffy is directly connected to my demo (late 30's and older). Don't nobody wanna hear new music from Puffy. If it ain't 1997's _No Way Out,_ we don't want it.

He waited til the artist's buzz/relevancey is gone or when they're Senior Citizens and no one's gonna sample their music😡 The only profitable option they have is to create record labels and new artists first projects are remixed/sampled music from ex-BadBoy artists 🧐 So basically if you sign to the Lox label you won't pay for beats but your tracks will be made with remixed/sampled music from the Lox

No When the movie "What's the Worst That Could Happen?" comes on Craig Mack has a song on the soundtrack called Wooden Horse. That's the only spins I'm aware of with him on it What's their Estate even worth? See y’all don’t get it! This is publishing rights, not cash! Which means the artist can use those publishing rights to make money. But a lot of those artist publishing ain’t worth a penny! Puff already made his money off of that publishing long ago. So what’s the point of them getting their publishing back now? Puff knows that he can’t make any more money off of that! He ain’t doing no good deed! 🤦🏿‍♂️

I was just explaining this to someone. Maybe the Lox can eat off it but everyone else has no chance. Also if Diddy has been greedy this long why stop now. If he could've sold it all for 9 figures he would've done so.

If a million in cash is what he waiting for to plan his life out, his publishing was either worth $2 (since I have never heard the guy for whatever music he did, I know him for this interview) OR he’s doing SO BAD IN LIFE that he thinks $1M is enough to live off. He’s thinking about how much ramen he can buy for that much.
