Sorry I am not closer, but it was a free show with paid entry to the fair, so people put their stakes down many hours ahead of time. i.e. blankets and chairs lol. Can't blame them. Styx puts on a great show.
Whats with the rude comments? They can still play, saw them last year on tour and they were awesome. Lawrence has been with them for 25 years and kills it, stop being disrespectful
I think Gowan does a great job filling deyoungs parts....also the styx guys are great when they switch to do a few of Gowans hits...they fit each other well and I loved seeing them a few years back in Toronto..i cant believe how small the crowd is here
Life is change, accept it as so. Lawrence Gowan has done an excellent job filling Dennis DeYoungs shoes. What do people expect? Gowan hits great notes high and low and excellent tempo. Quit living in the past people! Enjoy Styx! One of the great last bands from an era gone bye. Thanks so much to the members of this great band (past and present). Carry on, we love you all!
Nice version. I was very lucky to see Dennis in Toronto with his band do this. Deyoung sounded great! Gowan is good too! However, nobody sings this song like Dennis Deyoung!
Lmao 🤣 In the last month I've seen: 1. A fantastic Genesis Tribute band for free at a beautiful little outdoor municipal park theater 2. Carl Palmer's ELP 50th Anniv Tribute Tour to his 2 fallen comrades in a nice restored old 300 seat movie theater 3. KANSAS>the greatest American Progressive Rock Band's 50th Anniv Tour (2 original members) in a beautiful 4000 seat theater, playing an epic 2.5 hour show, no opening band, no intermission, all great Kansas Prog from mostly the 70s And I WILL BE seeing in the coming months: 1. BTO Reunion Tour with Randy Bachman back singing and playing guitar on all of BTOs best, plus all his best tunes he wrote with the Guess Who (+ Mark Farner of Grand Funk as opener) 2. YES (with Howe and Downes) playing in a new intimate 2500 seat venue 3. PETER GABRIEL on his new tour 4. STEVE HACKETT, ex guitarist of Genesis playing a "Foxtrot at 50" Genesis Revisted Tour in a small theater If you see a band you loved from the 70s, and they are still playing at high quality, look for these 50th tours, may be your last shot.
It's a shame they can't get things worked out with Dennis. It's one thing to be like Journey. Steve Perry can't sing those songs anymore and doesn't tour. But Dennis is out there singing these songs too. If only they could get together.
@@throbbinrodz lol throbbinrodz gayyyy but seriously Tommy put them over the top but Dennis was and always will be Styx. He just got a big head with that Mr. Roboto crap.
@@devinw5150Precisely. So many stuck in the past with rigid thinking. I saw Foreigner at the end of July. They were fantastic. Sure it would be nice to see Lou and Mick on stage. Kelly knocks it out of the park.
@@corykottickmusic3194 Kelly is phenomenal. I’ve seen Foreigner a couple of times as well within the last decade and was very impressed with their show both times! 👍
If Dennis didn't want them to do this song, he wouldn't let them. Of course, he gets royalties when they play it and they do a lot more shows for bigger crowds than he does ATM. I'm sure they get to play it because he likes the money. If they could reconcile it would be nice, but I just don't think it's gonna happen.
Gowan does an adequate job and all the instrumentation sounds great but I just can't get used to anyone besides Dennis De Young as their true lead . I understand all the bad blood between them all and don't blame the remaining members going on tour without Dennis it's a kin to Journey without Steve Perry sounds good but it's just not the same .
Larry took over when Dennis left in 1999. Todd Sucherman joined in 1996 after John Panozzo personally recommended him as a fill in while he was ill and became the full time drummer when Panozzo passed. Being disrespectful in a choice
Gowan is Scottish/Canadian...in my opinion he's as good as DDY...DDY started going all tuttifruity after Cornerstone...too much progrock shyte filled his cranium...
My god, who is that trying to sing this, Bert Convy? All the smoke jets and fireworks in the world can't dress this up to what its supposed to sound like. YIKES.... I just saw Kansas do their 50th Anniv Tour show a few weeks ago, and even with 2+ original members (original bass player Dave Hope special guest on a few songs), they were tight and played a killer 2+ hour show of REAL ACTUAL AMERICAN PROGRESSIVE ROCK!!
