Great video thank you. Did you have warning lights on your dash go off due to this problem?

I don't what year subie you have,but I just installed mine and it was a total nightmare,no room to get my hands in there to start with,I ended up removing the front grill so I could get my hands down there which still was difficult,not to mention the wiring harness was only about an inch and half long😕,I got the clip on the bracket that holds the sensor to come off but the sensor was stuck on the harness plug like cement,even with the clip released,I fought with it for an hour before it finally popped loose,it literally took me 10 minutes to install the new sensor and put the front grill back,now I'm wondering if I pushed the sensor in far enough,but it works perfect again so I guess I did it right,total time screwing with this was about an hour and 45 minutes,if I had to do it again it would take me about 20 minutes😀

Lol. Yeah the way you did it is probably what the manual calls for. Mine is a 2009. At least you got it done and you saved a bunch of $$$$!!

Where are clips located to release the sensor??,thx you
@bbonsanti

The clip is attached to the plug. You have to squeeze it..I used a small pliers. It's a bit hard to see but you should be able to feel it.

Hello, what is the part number?
@bbonsanti
@bbonsanti 6 лет назад
I believe it is 73731FC003 X1 for a Forester but I suggest double checking online using your model and year. Lots of places online will show a parts listing that way. Good luck!

Sent you a message I think by mistake but essentially best to check online using your model and year. I think the one I used was 73731FC003.

I gotta do this on my subie. The dealership wanted me to pay 220 bucks to replace a 14 dollar sensor.
@bbonsanti
@bbonsanti 6 лет назад
If all you have to do is swap the sensor and no other troubleshooting that's a ridiculous amount of money. I would say a fair price for my 12 year old to do it would be $14 and would take him 15 minutes and that's with me hitting him with tennis balls just for laughs. It's a ridiculous bit of engineering. Swap it out it's almost a necessity given what other systems it affects.

@@bbonsanti my A/C cuts out, can't control temp, only fan speed, the radiator fans shut off and the coolant works over time. it was causing so many problems

What does your dashboard outdoor temperature read? Is it correct or wrong? If it's wrong swap the sensor straight away. You can test the sensor to see if it's bad but you have to use a meter and check ohms across the leads.
@RKSNomad
@RKSNomad 6 лет назад
@@bbonsanti it says it's 200F outside, but only when idling. the dealership confirmed that my issues we're caused by a bad sensor. I was able to convince them to right down detailed stuff too.
@bbonsanti
@bbonsanti 6 лет назад
RKS. Swap it out yourself. It's simple. And that's without anyone throwing tennis balls at you while trying to get your hands in there to undo it lol.
