Hey, Just wanted to stop by and say your videos are great even after 3 years! I learned a lot about my car driving it and watching your videos. Got inspired and did stage 1+ Intake+Catback from Cobb and after I went with your recommendation and did BrenTuning. What a difference!! On Intelligent mode have a 10 boost (awesome in busy traffic), Sport has 18.7 boost for daily driving and Sport sharp reached 21 boost. The power after 3400rpm is linear and love the feeling!! I can't thank you enough! 🙏🙂

Great job on the video! I’ve had a real good experience with BrenTuning as well. He’s tuned a FA for me along with my current STI. Fortunately he’s within 30 minutes of driving so I went with a protune. The only other tuner I would ever trust is JRtuned. I also have been recently hearing good things about Corbin Johnson tuning.

I've been running a stage 1+ Cobb sf intake, catback and Brentuning etune with burble for over a month without any issues. Car pulls great, had their stage 1 since September also. Definitely worth it. Was running the Maperformance tune until my DAM dropped under 1. Haven't had that problem since switching to Bren.

Can you kinda of pick and choose when to make it burble or is it always backfiring? I want this tune but am a bit concerned about constant noise?
@Kevinfromsales

@@mnloring7867 as long as you shift before 4K rpm you shouldnt hear that much backfire. It really only kicks in when you flutter your foot above the throttle at 4k rpms.

Thanks for posting this! I bought a MAPerformance tune a few weeks back and once I loaded it, my car barely ran. Just on easy driving the car had a massive hesitation at around 2,500 RPM, nearly stalled and then had a couple of feedback knock readings over 8 and was getting about 8 miles per gallon after 10 miles. They claimed that I uploaded the tune wrong although I followed their instructions to the letter. Warmed it up before loading the tune and then let it idle over a minute. They did offer to fix things and do an etune of sorts if I sent them some data logs, which was nice of them. But I honestly didn't want that tune back on the car with the knock readings it was spitting out. I just consider it $75 lost. I'll definitely have to check out Bren.
@Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 4 года назад
That’s frustrating man. I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. OTS can be hairy. Not ever car can react the same so it can get ugly quick. Bren analyzes and revises you’re data logs several times before sending your final map. I did about 4-5 revisions and they hit the nail on the head. It’s definitely pricier, but you get what you pay for. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@jcrbama
@jcrbama 4 года назад
@@Scoobyfreak86 Yeah; at least it wasn't too expensive of an experiment (thankfully nothing broke). I've already been emailing with Bren and they seem like they are on top of things. I've been running the COBB stage 1 OTS 93 map without issue; so it was kind of a shock when the car seemed like it wanted to keel over with that map. My big concern was the massive knock events that were happening, I even ordered a 91 octane map for additional safety. Like you said, every car is different, your mileage may vary.
@jcrbama
@jcrbama 4 года назад
@@Scoobyfreak86 Hey man - Just following up, got the Bren tune on the car, it only took them two revisions to hit all of the targets and get clean logs. Really easy working with them and the car pulls strong with linear power delivery. The burble is kind of fun. I have the Remark muffler deletes and it certainly puts on a show. Thanks again for the post!

Love this video! Is stage 1+ by Cobb just as reliable as stage 1 by Cobb? Like does the SF intake make the engine healthier? Also, any issues with the crackle pop tune with bren tuning? If I’m just running stage 1 with cat back? Thanks!!!!!!!!!
@Scoobyfreak86

Just gives the car cooler air and more consistent numbers. No issues with the burble tune. But I don’t run it always. Running it full time can blow your turbo and cats out.

Great video! I wonder what made letting off the gas smoother in the tune? That is very interesting. Are all SI modes the same throttle, but different boost (how Cobb does it) OR is it like stock, where the SI modes only affect throttle.
@Scoobyfreak86

Smoothing our the rpm band and making the throttle response more linear is what makes it so smooth. Yes works just like stock. Different boost levels in each setting. I drive in s# 99% of them time to have full boost at all times.

I’ve been contemplating going stage 2+(Cobb redline, ebc, injectors, fuel pump, fpr, Cobb dp) vs Bren’s stage 1+ redline. I know you are considering too, but do you think its worth 2x the cost to go stage 2+ over stage 1+? I was reading Bren’s 15+ sti tune thread and it only gave around up to 30hp & tq with stock fueling.
@Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 4 года назад
I’m only at bren stage 1+ so I can’t comment on stage 2+ experience. However, I’m not a number hunter. I wouldn’t be taking the next step in power to get more power. It would simply be to increase the longevity and reliability of the motor by allowing it to run smoother and breath cleaner. The extra power is just a byproduct for me.
