@@Unknown_RedactedYT pretty sure they're just called adult ghost leviathans in game. but the void variant is noticeably larger, because supposedly ghost leviathans never stop growing in their life spans.
The only juvenile is in the lost river. The ones in the map are adults, and the ones I'm the void are just adults that are larger than the ones in the map.
I had a nightmare about subnautica once. I was in the shallows building a new seamoth when a Reaper (accurate to scale btw) came and chased me around. I got into my base but the Reaper kept putting holes in it, and eventually ripped the room i fled to right off of the base. I fled to inside of the aurora as clearly the Reapers thought the shallows were better and before I could get to a safe area, i drowned.
This actually happened to me once. I had a base in one of the safe shallows and a reaper glitches and was within close visual distance of my base IN THE MIDDLE of the safe shallows just cresting the water and being a general terrible neighbor
Not exactly similar, but I had a subnautica related nightmare too. I was swimming around in the evening time, and my PDA started telling me about discovering some sort of "unknown creature". I tried swimming up to the surface before I got the chance to see what it was, but then my vision faded to black and (I'm pretty sure) I drowned. I think I could hear it's roars as I started going for the surface too
I once had a nightmare that a stalker latched onto my leg and dragged me down into seemingly bottomless depths to drown me. Was surprised that the nightmare's focus wasn't a reaper, as I'm terrified of reapers and actually quite like stalkers and deliberately base near them.
I once had an actual nightmare that the sea emperor got sick off the khara and started hunting me down in a disease driven frenzy... this game was bad for my mental health...
Honestly, the thumbnail scared me more than the video. Not taking away from it at all, it was actually scary as a concept. The more I stare into the thumbnail, the more it terrifies me. But, it would be horrifying if you had nightmares after exploring scary places.
Really good job with the body language and movement; it's not easy to communicate a character's mood with no voice and no visible face to take cues from. That part at the end where they had to go outside just to see for themselves that everything was normal and alright really hit home
@@subzero00 i hate the fact that before entering the lava zone theres a biome with a theme having annoying whisper that scares me a lil, so i kinda dont like going to lava zone but i have to.
The music cutting out right as it transitions from regular Subnautica to the nightmare is bone-chilling, and I bet that wasn't intentional in the slightest lol
In my steam library, it's on my horror shelf right next to stuff like Darkwood and Dead Space, and ppl can argue about the semantics of 'horror' vs 'terror' all they want. I will die on the hill of its placement in my library
Insanely well done. I even like how there's that dreamlike feeling where on our perspectives, we're just thinking "Go back in, NOW! Get back inside!" but the dream isn't rational. You just sink into the horror and shock of it, kind of literally here.
Playing for the fifth time, installed mods for the map, laser weapons, repair module and the ability to replace exoskeleton modules without leaving the armor.
Holy crap that was a legit nightmare, I felt that camera shaking and you going outside just to make sure. when you woke up in the dream with water everywhere, I was like aw heck naw
0:03 i had a good day 0:13 time to go to sleep 0:18 the dream is loading and... 0:26 its dark... Its a nightmare? 0:32 whats going on out there i wonder 0:38 AAAAAA! AAAA 0:40 STAY AWAY 0:43 WHAT DID I DOOO!? 0:46 OW IMA DROWN **blows bubbles** 0:49 i have nothing to do but escape 0:54 **blows bubbles** im running out... **blows bubbles** 0:57 **drowns** 1:02 NEVER AGAIN NIGHTMARE 1:07 GOTTA RUN OUT OF HERE!!! 1:14 lets explore... 1:15 and look back 1:19 taking a veiw
fun fact: one of the most terrifying animals in real life is the blue whale because of there size while in subnautica the reaper leviathan is about 2.5x larger then the blue whale and it has claws on its head making leviathans litteral nightmares
Excellent editing. That was really fun to watch. Almost didn't click on the video but damn glad I did. Now if only the devs were this interested in making the game scary, too.
If they decided to make a movie or a series about subnautica they would definitely make a scene where the main character is in a nightmare and they get attacked by all the dangerous sea creatures in the middle of the deep but only to wake to be a dream it would be cool
God imagine if they went full psych horror for this game and had Riley reliving the aurora crash when you sleep or, after your first leviathan attack, being stuck swimming in a pitch black endless void then having a reaper come up and kill you. Maybe even have his brain combine the two and have a leviathan eat his lifepod or rip it open or something after he lands. That would definitely be some next-level stuff that absolutely doesnt belong here, but it would add a whole new level of realism as you try to cope with probably the single most terrifying situation a person can be in: being stranded, completely alone, on a planet light years away from civilization and ridden with enormous monsters out for blood
So you're telling me you died because you didn't have enough oxygen, but you didn't die because there were a bajillion ghost leviathans and a random ah ah reaper leviathan?
that thumbnail is actually crazy though, imagine if subnautica had off putting, uncanny and disturbing creatures and the water was a murky black color and hard to see in
