Mr. J, thank you very much for this. I really wish I could have had you as a teacher in the 90s. You helped me to understand in MINUTES what my teachers couldn't teach me in YEARS. I am 38 years old, working towards a degree in accounting. My first university prof was kind enough to teach me this stuff again, so I could pursue my dreams. And now, I am teaching my hubby this stuff so he can write a skills assessment for our local college, and pursue his goals. How did you get the common denominator? I always get confused on how you get common denominators. (Btw the rest was really helpful! 😁)

The common denominator is going to be the least common multiple between the denominators. So for example, if your denominators are a 3 and a 4, the least common multiple is 12. So 12 is the common denominator.
