I have a clamp jig, it helps a lot but this jig you’re using seem more useful. Imma have to get one!
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 3 года назад
Those clamp on edge guides are great, you just have to make sure you offset for the distance between the guide and the blade. I always seem to screw that part up so I prefer the rip cut.

Wow I remember the 2 screw circle jig back in the early 90’s on my first few enclosures. Yesterday I sat back and watched my CNC do all the work 😂

about making subwoofer box without tools u know what loving subwoofer can do? i start making subwoofers box from 12 years old all i need, it was a screwdriver and hammer to make all cuts, in line and round for the speaker.. everything about cut was screwdriver and hammer, i was 12 old who care about time, just love it to make it done. corners i make it around with sandpaper, that takes time and get tired on hands but i make it without big tools :D if u see with eyes no one can believe that was cut with screwdriver and hammer 🤣👌👌👌 today i work with big CNC Wood.

For those that didn't know, you can get a left-handed power saw. The blade is on the left and much easier to see for us Right-handed people. I've had a left-handed Porter Cable for 30 years. I'll never go back.

How do you find out what kind of radiator you need, aren't there different weight radiators ? I want to build a box with 2 8 inch subs with 2 8 inch passive radiators. Good video and thanks for making.
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 3 года назад
The PR(s) need to be able to move twice the air as the active driver(s). So if you have a single 8 with 8mm of X-max you will need two 8" passives, each with 8mm of X-max. Or a single 8 with 16mm. For this build I used a 10"sub and a 23" passive. You add weight to the PR to adjust the tuning.

I'm buying some plywood tomorrow. They're going to cut it for me for a fair price. Eventually I'll get the tools, right now I don't need them. Just need to ask a friend if I can use his Jigsaw and brad nailer. After putting together one of my boxes that way I can't go back to screws haha.
@DIYAudioGuy

Brad nails are definitely the way to go.

I have very good luck with both my local Lowes and Home Depot. They guys that run the panel saw are very accurate, they guy at Lowes is a fellow audio enthusiast. They will make up to 4 cuts on MDF/plywood free of charge. I usually ask them to make the "major cuts," like in this build where trimmed a few inches off the long side, and a few rough cuts so the pieces are more manageable. Then I take everything to the table saw. This video was done just to show that you don' t need a table saw and a router.
@JoshM7

DIY Audio Guy I decided to try my luck with my Home Depot. Couldn't have asked for a worse person. Got cuts all wrong. Not even workable with over half an inch in the completely wrong dimension. (35x16.5 turned into 35.6x16 or something) He wouldn't take paper cut list. (Two 35x16.5 and two 35x12.5 for example would have been the main focus on the list) Had to return and they almost didn't let me. Unfortunately looks like I'm never trying anything like that again.

I need help deciding on an enclosure. I have 2 soundstream t5 12” dual 4 ohm subs. I’ll be running them on a soundstream txp1.6000d amp at 1 ohm. Manufacturer recommends a minimum of 1.5 ft3 sealed or 1.75 ft3 ported per sub. I am limited on the enclosure size so I can only go 1.25 ft3 per sub. Will running a small box damage my subs or just hurt performance? Also would the sealed enclosure be a better option than ported due to the smaller size? Thanks.
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 3 года назад
An undersized box is unlikely to damage anything, but it will hurt performance. if it were me I would have gone with a pair of 10s or just a single 12.

Cordless tools don’t last more than 6-8 years. Drills are fine because of the portability and performance. But I’ve had the same corded circular saw and corded jigsaw for 15 years.
@DIYAudioGuy

I like them for the extra convenience, Even if they do wear out. I find that once I've had a tool for 6 to 8 years I start itching to upgrade it anyway.

I remember why I gave the thumbs down to this video now it's a pretty good video but I think it's unnecessary and bad advice to say that everybody needs to go to cordless tools.
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 2 года назад
It's all good, there's no law saying that everybody has to agree with me. My opinion on the matter has changed a little bit since I've made this video. Cordless tools keep getting cheaper and better, I would recommend skipping right over the corded ones and jumping right into a cordless set.
