Mr M describes what considerations are made when determining X-Mech. What are the various Mechanical excursion prototype. A bit sloppy and unscripted so… i apologize

Thanks for explaining that. I learned something else in regards to building my new speakers in the future.

Dont forget the coil wind height and pole piece height. strong motor too with too short of a coil ive seen coils jump the gap and land outside gap and get stuck or rub badly going back in

Many Thanks!!! I gotta actually look at what I’m doing before i make the videos… write things down so i don’t just state incorrect and random numbers but… I don’t like the idea of scripting 🤣

Thanks! I highly recommend bubbas, they are amazingly priced compared to similar units from other companies and in many cases are actually the same product 🤔.They are also surprisingly impressive for 8” subs, they were the first I ran and I was pleasantly surprised

yeah man! ive seen some subs that look very similar to yours. atleast a couple with the same basket. Ive heard the 16 8s in the van before on half power, with the blown out bottom seal on the windshield and that alone impressed me! i know its really in the box, but they really made some noise! i heard that van can do a 156 haha for 8s that must be a crowd pleaser id bet eh.@@MrM_Full-Send

Love the video. Very informative. My only gripe is that you need an assistant :)

and a cleaner 🤣. I really need to take notes before I make the videos rather than just recording and uploading 🤣. I could have taken all of the measurements and had the numbers before hand 🤷‍♂️, then just “fake” measured everything while i filmed but… oh well

Love your videos,I enjoy learning more, been makign my own shbs for a couple of years on and off. Just hard to find motors especially if trying to do builds of 4+ subs. Think you could ever do a cideo covering different spider sizes? Such as the difference between a 9.25 and 10 inch spider and whne it is beneficial to go up another size?

I could definitely do a spider review video, cupped, mirrored, semicupped, flat, linear, progressive… lots to talk about 😊. I’ll try to see if I have examples of each so I can reference them.

@@MrM_Full-SendI would appreciate it,thank you. Thoughts on the 400oz Lord of bass motors? Can't seem to find anywhere else that sells motors. Tried alibaba, but I imagine shipping costs would be extreme

Good stuff. Have you used the rope or yarn in place of the plastic 1/4" triple joint yet? It's a little old school but gains another 1/8" or so of xmech. Can't tell you how many cracked triple joints I've had playing the lows. I like the plastic spider spacer idea but I'll bet that would complicate recone kits. They would have to most likely be included if the end user wasn't careful to keep it intact. And final question, do you used Precision Econowind coils? If so, do you know if they are taking on new accounts? I'd like to order some coils.

I have not used the yarn/rope technique before but realistically speaking a triple ring joint could be made with a wide range of materials so if the structural properties of plastic are inadequate then an alternative could be used. Spacers come with their own set of implications and need to be accounted for when making the cone assembly. adding one to a sub with a cone assembly that wasn’t intended to have one will change the coil position by the spacer thickness and the surround will no longer touch the basket (off by spacer thickness). They could definitely complicate things for anyone who is unfamiliar with the design implications 😊.Yes i use PEW coils but i get them indirectly.. i believe they have a minimum order policy so you need to order 10-15 of each coil. typically I am doing one off builds so it wouldn’t be useful for me to order bulk at this point…
