Kendall not telling Rava that he would hire more security detail to protect them is out of pocket because her and their kids thought they were getting stalked by people who wanted to do harm to them. That should be communicated so you don't emotionally scar your kids for no reason lmao. Shiv choosing to align with Matsson is a frustrating choice but since her being self-serving wouldn't have led to a Mencken presidency, it's hard for me to not be on her side.

roman is at peak hateable in this ep. kieran is DELIVERING. the way he can go from a pitiful little boy who just wants his dad to love him to The Worst Guy You Have Ever Known and spin it on a dime and it's all convincing and consistent?? masterclass

I know Shiv really didn't choose the right time to tell Tom about her pregnancy, but it does bother me how few people mention the fact that he's completely coked up at work during that scene compared to how many people just dump on Shiv. Either way, great reaction as always!

While I sympathize with her struggle and the fact she did get pushed out, it is her own doing since e1, when instead on going for whatever they had back then she started some petty crap with Sandy, completely excluding her brothers out. And even in this case, she literally uses her father's death ("my father just died" - ok, so? is it buisness tho) and her pregnancy to get direct control over Tom in this particular moment to serve her agenda. Which is fine. But let's not pretend she is any better or even a victim, she is just like the rest of them, but out of all them she is the one who thinks she is a “good person” (Kendall also btw, but his delusions are a bit wilder, and I hate his tech bro corpo speak ridden personality). Like even about Mencken, she's thinking she is that "liberal woman in the conservative patriarchal family", gimme a break.
@Chlo255
@Chlo255 2 месяца назад
I would agree if that was all she was doing, but she also partially did it just out of emotion. Tom just told her that she essentially KILLED her father, which is a fucked up thing to say, and she kinda just spilled it. @@OhWellWhatTheHell1

I don’t think she was mad at the fact, Kendal was having them followed, I think she was mad that he didn’t tell her about it. Because not knowing added fear to her and her daughter, which is what they were trying to avoid in the first place.

Tiny note: Mencken was leading in New York because he's a New York congressman. I don't think it's ever stated outright, although his base for election day is in the city and the script mentions Mencken voting in Long Island. Also, I don't know if you were planning on watching the promo for the finale after watching "Church and State", but I would personally recommend against it.
@benhackett4
@benhackett4 2 месяца назад
Oh is that why? I was wondering if it's because more rural districts had been counted at that point in time compared to the urban districts. If it is because of the fact that Mencken had represented New York, that feels like a small error in the writing to me. My understanding is that where you've been previously elected doesn't matter much these days, as most voters are much more strongly aligned to their preferred political party compared to 25 or even 15 years ago. No far right politician is winning New York in a presidential election, and it's especially hard to believe a far right politician winning New York state by a landslide. Agreed on the promo. Comes down to personal preference but I like to head into movies/episodes as blind as possible.

I like to think that Mattson doesnt know what normalist means and just called Greg one because he thinks that Greg is a "normal guy". Would fit with all the bullshit lingo we get from these characters. While youre right about Shivs betrayal just mirroring what Ken has been doing when it comes to trying to fuck over his siblings, I find it hard to feel bad for her. If she truly believed anything she had been saying about the state of the republic and pluralism and all that, she would have called Nate. But she decided that her interests were more important. Truly a great episode to remind us how terrible all of the 3 Waystar siblings are.

46:51 - 50:19 I mean, as I remember, one particular news organization called for the one dude, specifically his cousin did.... As much as I disagree with Roman, he acted exactly like Logan would. Greg didn't fold really, Shiv overplayed, he asked what she offers, and she offered nothing. So Shiv got a smirk from Greg when he passed by, after talking to Kendall. Everyone played their game, and as of now, she just lost. It is what it is. They are all hypocrites and pretty much Logan-lite (Shiv suggested Kendall as sacrifice, Kendall pushed both siblings out, Roman playing to get one up and him having a direct line to Mencken which threatens Kendall plan to be the only one "tech bro").
@shahriachowdhury9552
@shahriachowdhury9552 2 месяца назад
Agreed, Greg has slowly understood how to play the game since Safe Room with his polite blackmail proposal to Tom, then with Logan in S3 to abandon the Kendall ship so he's experienced and knows how to negotiate for personal gain... to put it shortly, Shiv thought she was dealing with Season 1 Greg.
@msaadmin123

Shiv was stupid with Greg, it shows how immature she is in this game, relatively speaking. Even Logan didn't underestimate Greg's leverage in the famous coke scene From Greg's position, that's a good move to spill about Shiv to the head of the company vs keep her secret, who is not a CEO and has no counter-leverage or any offer whatsoever

All three series from your poll are absolutely brilliant and you should definitely jump into them completely blind - no trailer, no synopsis on imdb, no nothing. ;) Oh, and if you watch Dark at a later date, please watch it in German with subtitles. Even if you don't understand them, the original actors voices add so much and the dub is questionable at best.

On my initial watch I thought Shiv was being a half-decent person (as I sometimes get the sense she has genuine values), but on this watch I'm wondering if her actions really aren't just mostly for selfish reasons. Also, I find the entire Tom and Shiv thing to be so tragic. I really think that conversation might have gone a different way if Tom hadn't been coked up. Though who knows, he sucks, they all suck. Sigh.

Agree with Romans perspective on how to deal with Wisconsin in this scenario; taking out any political parties here, Party A has an unsurmountable lead over Party B currently due to 10,000 missing votes. Unconstitutional to re-hold the vote (how long would it take? and it would also hold up the whole election process), or base it off the previous years either (historical voting). Already been established that the missing 10,000 votes would not help Party B surpass Party A but there is doubt since Party B had historically won in Wisconsin. In my opinion, the argument is not enough to doubt the vote in Wisconsin going to Party A since yes people would have voted for Party B previously they could also change their mind this year and vote for Party A. Numbers just dont lie.
@OhWellWhatTheHell1
@OhWellWhatTheHell1 2 месяца назад
"Already been established that the missing 10,000 votes would not help Party B surpass Party A" Is this ever said directly? I was under the impression that those missing 10k votes (if they broke down roughly where we'd expect based on historical data/polling) would have handed Party B that state. Like call it 1.625 mill for A vs 1.620 mill for B, with 10k votes pending that were projected to go 75-25 to party B. Either way in real life I would guess that the most likely course of action would be a re-vote in Wisconsin.
