its literally regarded as one of the greatest television shows of all time (top10) by both critics and audience and best show of its era with bcs saying this one of best of all time is not overestimation it's correct in this situation
@@jimmylee9120 I’ve seen most tv shows worth watching, maybe like the last seasons of cheers is it, tv isn’t infinite and you can only compare fiction works with fictions works. I wouldn’t compare succession to the last dance because that would mean I’m stupid, and don’t understand the difference
it was absolutely the NRPI comment that flipped Kendall. He was viewing this as a way to pay for his sins, but his father wouldn’t even acknowledge that there was any wrongdoing at all & Kendall is repulsed by that bcuz he still has some moral. He doesn’t want to play his dad’s game bcuz he has clarity on the man his father is (tho maybe he doesn’t have clarity on himself & his own limitations) You’ll notice when he kisses his cheek it evokes the ‘kiss of Judas’ to foreshadow he is going to betray his father
I think it was a combination of that AND the fact that Logan told him that he wasn't a "killer". Kendall wanted to punish his father for being and immoral piece of shit as well as for not believing that he had it in him to be CEO.
Possibly my favorite episode of Succession ever. The two year wait for Season 3 was excruciating. Y'all are so lucky you can just go right on to the next one.
I was going to do a rewatch and then found this channel and had fun watching these seasons again along with your fresh reactions. I hope you guys keep making these into seasons 3 and 4!
This is definitely one of the best episodes of television history. The caliber of acting especially in Kendall, then season 3 and 4 put out so many more legendary episodes
Loving the reactions, sadly not getting big numbers but glad you guys are continuing with it. Loved the Tom's performance by Matthew Macfadyen on beach/cove scene, it's very understated and you can still feel the emptyness he feels.
sad .. i keep checking here every day hoping ... but everyday i start my day let down and remember the feeling of being so involved in something to only have that something taken away.
What's extra sad is I think Kendall was coping with Logan's control of him all season by believing it came from a place of love and protection deep down, and that it was just a "wrong kind of love expression." But the fact that his dad was willing to throw him in jail (the thing he was supposedly protecting him from in s1) AND didnt even really think what Ken did was wrong (NRPI) proved that the only thing his dad loved was the control.
Guys, I love your 'Succession' reactions and am desperately craving more - do you know when you'll be uploading the next episode? I can't wait to see more! :)
Are you guys going to do the rest of the series? I hope so because it only gets crazier from here! And I think you would get more views on those episodes because those seasons are more recent
I can’t wait for you guys to react to the most pivotal episode. It caught me completely off-guard and it was so fcking smart on the part of the writers. The actors were phenomenal.
From twice a week when you guys startedp to once a week to now 0 times a week? Season 4 is probably my favorite season it definitely has alot of my favorite scenes hopefully they pick it back up
Yes Jeremy Strong has won multiple awards for his acting in Succession! Ken's journey in Season 2 began with a press conference (under his dad's orders) and ended with one too (this time of his own volition). Love the symmetry there. Yes, it was because of NRPI that Ken finally turned on Logan even after being emotionally abused the whole season. As the conversation with Logan ends, Ken gives "kiss of Judas" to Logan and references it being "last supper" with family. Already foreshadowing what was gonna happen. On the open communication bit though, Shiv still doesn't know Tom got a BJ and got snowballed by Tabitha. Season 3 is wild ride! Let's revolution!
Most people fail to notice how slimy Tom is. I did too on first watch. Tom is a very power hungry and opportunistic man and it’s shown in so many instances across the show. He proposed to shiv in the hospital when her dad was on his deathbed because he knew once Logan dies there is gonna be a redistribution of power and he wanted to be family real quick before that. And this is just one example. He sticks to Shiv despite her being absolutely horrible not just because he loves her but because he cannot let go of his ambition to climb higher. That’s why he is so desperate to have a baby, so much so that he’s tracking her periods. He desperately wants to strengthen his position in the family. He is a weasel. He is always trying to slip into important conversations, always thinks of his benefits and is the biggest yes man of the show. The reason he takes Greg under his belt is because he sees himself in Greg - greedy for power and will take any amount of bullying and humiliation as long as it gets him somewhere. We have to see that both Shiv and Tom are not good people (not a single person in the show is) and then their relationship becomes ever more interesting and complex and fun to watch.
"I wonder if the sad I'd be without you would be less than the sad I get from being with you." Yep, writing doesn't get much better. This season was a miracle when it happened. Just banger after banger.
Damn Jaby called it completely with Shiv. She is very masculine-aligned in most areas of her life but whenever she needs something she knows to play the woman role like the sister and the daughter especially. This is my favorite episode I think.
I literally jumped up from my seat at the end, rooting for Ken when I first watched it. No other TV show has made me do that. I was so excited for you both to finally watch this episode !
About your question whether Jeremy Strong has earned awards for his performance, he did! Emmy (One win in 2020 for S2 and two nominination for S3 and S4), a Critics Choice award, Golden Globe award and he deserved all of them! ❤️
@@d_shi While I don't think it's coming back, I guess I'm still hoping that maybe they are taking a break from it after finishing S2. I do agree with you that if it's gone then the right and courteous thing to do would be for Jaby to make a community post that they won't be continuing with it. I mean, if it's not getting the views I get it. That's not the problem. However, to just leave their subscribers who WERE enjoying the reactions in limbo would be kind of crap and frankly would be a turn off for me regarding the channel.
It’s going to be insanely disappointing if we don’t get season 3….do people really get 2 full seasons into this show and then decide they don’t like it? Why, oh why, do so many reaction channels do this…
They love the show but the problem is they are not enough views for Succession. They might be watching it ok there own or may have paused the reactions for now. They haven't address what happens to the reactions, that's disrespecting to the audience who watched the show with them.
Hope you're on a pause for Succession and not that you all dropped it from the channel entirely. I mean I get it, it takes work to put this all together and if the views arent there then it isn't worth the effort, it would just be nice to have some clarification.
I really wished u guys picked up that this episodes is the biggest episode for showing shivs character and how she treats people, she told her dad to send her brother to jail so she could keep Tom under her thumb, that was her plan
Can you guys PLEASE just tell us whether you're continuing this at some point or not? Some of us came for Succession. Not getting any clarification on whether this is a pause, whether you've dropped it, etc, feels a little disrespectful to your viewing audience. I mean, if it's just not getting the views, it is what it is and I get it. But we deserve to at least have it addressed.
Really hate when channels do this. Every freakin' video - "like, subscribe, hit that notification button, consider being a patreon!!". Yet, the channel can't be bothered to take two minutes to write a community post and update their subscribers as to what is going on with a reaction to a series. Like most are saying, if the channel decided to quit uploading because it wasn't getting the views, we get it. However, when you can't be bothered to show just a little courtesy to your subscribers, it's a bad look for Jaby
@@clash5j That's my thing. It takes literally 30 seconds to post "Hey guys, we've decided that the return on investment just isn't there for these reactions so we will be discontinuing this series." That's all anyone is asking for, if that's how it's going to be.
Love you guys' reactions. You don't miss any of the good jokes and you just GET IT (especially Achara). I'm actually on a different unnamed reactors' channel rigjt now for Succession amd I'm switching over. Not only are they constantly getting distractes by their environment amd going off on random, unfocused tangents, at the end of S2 finale, one of them actually said, "Oh my gosh, so were Logan and Kendall planning this all along?"....like what!?! Not only did I completely lose the emotional payoff of seeing someone react to one of the best moments in television, it just bothered me immensely that they clearly just don't get it. Succession doesn't hide anything from you like that. There are always, clues, suggestions, a logical pattern of events that lead to inevitable conclusions. And them thinking that Logan's wry smile at the end meant that they were plotting it together was just like...wow, I can't watch you anymore. Anyways, rant over.
Arguably the only time Logan was proud of his kid lmao. Mona Lisa smile & all. Acharas right the NRPI is what does it. A reminder that Logan didn’t see that waiter which is what’s been eating Kendall up as a person.
One of my favorites episodes of the series, and one of the best in tv history. The script here, full of last supper imagery, is sharp as a knife. Love it.
It's obvious they both like the show, but Jaby has made it clear on a few occasions that it's all about the views. I don't blame him. I'm sure they will finish it on their own. I'm more perplexed as to why such a well done show is not getting the views. Hope we're both wrong though and they will continue
Logan was finally proud of Ken at the end, at it also takes a great actor to show so much emotions with just a subtle facial expression. But also such a sad scene for Tom, when he finally said what he's thinking about Shiv shaneginans.
For everyone wondering if they are continuing or not: We are giving it into Friday, Oct 6th. If they don't upload a succession reaction by then, we're unsubscribing.
rewatching this episode after completing the show, we can see that shiv protected tom here and also at the end against kendalll. like she would always protect tom over Kendall.
Favorite episode of the show by far. This episode really showed how very different Kendall is from his father. I still believe Logan loves his kids but what does it mean if the kids can't understand it.
When I first watched this episode I legit jumped. Like yesss! My boi, Ken! This episode is Logan at his most manipulative. He KNOWS that he is the biggest fish to fry. The best sacrifice. But him "volunteering" himself during the discussion is perfect reverse psychology - using his age and position as a father & head of the company to his advantage like a perfect blend of respect/intimidation and sympathy. That way, his hands don't have to be (as) dirty because the deciding vote is not from him and... the guilt on whoever chosen to be the sacrifice would be more on someone else. That is... welll.... until Kendall came out like that.
i'm going to ask Achara if she can make her own Patreon so we can just watch with her if Jaby is too busy or doesn't see the show a fit for his channel ...
i disagree that logan has no connection with his children. Its true that he shows no warmth in that scene but at the same time, he doesnt react negatively when kendall kisses him on the cheek.. he allows it. He would never normally allow that imo but in that situation he did. And imo you can just see in his acting that he feels bad about having to sacrifice kendall... he doesnt want to do. he doesnt like that he has to do it. but of course he will do it anyway. But i think it still hurts him on some level. I feel like thats part of why logan smiled at the end..he's happy his son is standing up for himself, he doesnt want to see him get hurt.
