Appreciate this SO much. Been keto almost 3 years now, with 60-70lbs. lost and kept off (with very few left to etch out lol), and am naturally craving exercise and feeling so much more whole mentally, and am learning more on how it's a process of cellular recovery thanks to vids such as this, WHICH INCITES AN INQUIRY: I only recently learned about the incretin effect, having previously thought I already fully understood, at a layperson/basal level, the basics of ketotic biochemistry lol. Could you please consider doing a video/segment that helps to break this down more? I'm currently taking Berberine with pure ceylon daily, and have measured and seen its benefits with blood sugar regulation (I check with my ketone/glucose strips and it's lowered my post-meal by around 10, and increased my ketones by around .7). Many thanks Doc and God bless you and your continued work. 🙏💪👍👍😎

I really wish this was taught in the black community who somehow have convinced themselves that they're not fat they're just curvy. Over the years I've been criticized by my family and friends because I've always maintained my high school weight outside of 10 to 15 lb over the past 60 years of my life. They would get offended when I chose not to eat certain foods at cookouts and say little insulting things about how I'm starving myself. My 25-year-old daughter who is 5'7 120 lb refused to go to a lot of family gatherings because they would make little insults to her as well. Sadly only the people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired will seek out wonderful videos like this. I hope sometime soon this will become common knowledge to people everywhere, because it's heart breaking to see my diabetic family members slowly killing themselves at their doctors advice. I feel so helpless because they tell me I'm not a doctor and don't know what I'm talking about 😫
@jennygibbons1258

So difficult. I totally understand. Especially the “pleasingly plump” delusional terminology. I have stopped defending myself and just agree that they could be right. Let’s wait and see coz my blood work, BP, diabetes and brain scans for further stroke damage will all be terrible if they are right and I’m wrong. I don’t expect some miraculous ‘road to Damascus’ moment from them because they are more about self-justification of their own choices rather than deep concern about mine. It’s just human nature. They conveniently ignore the evidence of my no longer being on medications, no longer in bed sick most days 🤷🏽‍♀️ Keep going Mica - can’t change everyone - only ourselves. All the best 😊

Does one lose weight quick if there is no sugar intake
@helenhill9482
@helenhill9482 2 года назад
@@peregrine7303 in a word yes, but don’t forget that all carbs break down into sugar molecules, so you need to avoid all sugars AND starches (inc all grains). Weight loss is quicker and more sustainable, as you don’t get hungry like you do on low fat diets. You feel better, which gives you massive incentive to stick to it. I have also noticed that I am losing fat from all the places I want to lose from (tummy and butt), whereas on previous low fat diets, I’d lose weight from my face (making me look ill) and breasts! On keto/ fasting, all my blood work has gone back to “normal”, BP back to normal, no longer borderline type 2 diabetic, off beta blockers, off statins and four stone in weight lost.

I was wondering if you could find places on line where your community go - you coould share inforative videos re keto & carnivore , and they would see them and maybe eventually watchone or two. 35 years old. 20 years vegetarian, gained 70-80lbs, forever tired, acne, eczema, irregular periods, severe IBS. But vegetarian is healthy right? So the problem is coming from somewhere else right? Wrong. 2 months paleo, IBS completely went away, and no more eczema, down 30lbs, no hunger. Switched then to carnivore, no acne, regular periods, energy, great sleep, IBS and eczema still a thing of the past, more fat loss. Decided to eat some "naughty" foods during this quarantine, immediate IBS, acne, fatigue, poor sleep from a few meals including carbs, and heavier on the scale. So not worth it. The proof is right there. But people are so used to feeling like crap that they think it's the normal way of feeling. It isn't until you stop, that you realize you don't have to feel sick, heavy, bloated, exhausted all the time. On carnivore, I don't need to wear deodorant and my teeth have very little plaque build up on them. A few meals with carbs, my sweat stinks and I have a plaque coating on my teeth all day. Today, I return to carnivore because these past few days have hammered all my progress, and for what? Some bread and a slice of cake? Please.

I agree with Mike's advice, try to be full of something with fat, not just lean meat, eggs are a good choice on carnivore or bacon, fat is very satiating gives a lot of energy and it's easier to resist temptation if you don't need energy or food. Also what I personally do is try to associate all my health issues with the food that made me sick, say you had some pain somewhere and it's less or gone on carnivore, every time you're tempted by a food, instead of remembering the taste you likes, think about the food and focus on that pain at it worse, always associate the bad food to the bad feeling.

That goes in line with addiction recovery, when a person takes a "large negative habit" out of their lives they have to fill that void, just as equally, with a large positive habit, or a person will most certainly fall back into that negative habit. Words like "diet" are self defeating trickery upon ourselves.

I started keto new years day, a 30 day resolution, with you, Thomas Delauer and Dr Berg. Not to mention Low carb downunder and all those fab specialists. I expected another failed resolution like other years. I was at my highest weight and what most would call and alcoholic. I drank 8 or more Canadian beer daily. I hurt and needed to detox. So New Years resolution was my time to challenge myself to a 30 detox. I found all this on you tube on January 1, while really hungover. Here I am 99 days later. I feel great. I am 40 pounds lighter and I am loving keto, but I think carnivore is more for me. Starting tomorrow. My biggest surprise is I don't drink beer any more. This has made me quit drinking. I didn't expect that to happen. I don't understand how it worked. I have drank a beer or two in the past month and I did not enjoy them. I don't want it anymore. This was not what I expected. I didn't think I would quit drinking. I thought to do that would be hard. I don't understand it,but I am not really complaining. I guess I am a bit. I enjoyed it. It was my social time, now...

My roommate after seeing my relatively modest progress on keto, made a new years resolution to do it himself. In one year, he went from 265lb to 160lbs. He wouldn't cheat a bit, he knew he was addicted. He worked in a restaurant this whole time too. He'd lettuce wrap some beef if he was getting too hungry when skipping breakfast and lunch. When you really stick to it and don't budge one bit, even for restaurants with friends, that's how you get true success. I relapsed when I got too comfortable making exceptions. Now I'm doing very carnivore heavy keto. I allow high fat dairy and the occasional vegetable, like to make a hearty stew once in a week or two.

I am just amazed about all I’m learning from these great conversations. Mind is blown. I’m a nurse and in the process of totally reversing all the things I’ve been taught about health and nutrition. My skepticism about the medical system started with all this junk last year, and I have been finding more and more excellent information like this. It also resonates deeply with me being a carb addict all my life. I’ve started this health journey 3 weeks ago, and am so excited about my healthy future.

I would encourage you to find keto desserts. There are a LOT of recipes on RU-vid. You can eat berries and real whipped cream, brownies, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, a really close simulation of creme brule, etc. I use liquid Stevia for sweetness but I have not made any keto desserts because I'm not craving sweets. Powdered sugar substitutes are available and they are not artificial. It can be tough but you can do it!

Yes, stress is a killer. I had 5 kids, was taking a couple classes at college, and had a part-time job...oh, and a husband who thought women should stay barefoot and pregnant. Make a list of your stressors and just give some thought as to how you might make them (one at a time) less stressful. What would make things improve? Even just removing one stressor can help enormously.

I’ve been employed 7 years at an alcohol/ drug rehab and many of the patients don’t truly understand the drug of choice is not the problem... but a symptom of the problem. An inability to cope with life on life’s terms is the real issue. Without a plan to internally deal and cope with life addicts turn to external sources.

Addictive. I don't care what anyone will say to counter that charge. My wife and I fed our daughter her first real dose of straight up sugar near her first birthday. After her first bite, she let out a blood curdling scream for more that she had never done before or since. We seldom feed her things like that, but she certainly does eat catbohydrates. I've been keto for 22 years. You have to quit sugar all at once and compensate with fat. It's harder to eat sugar after you just finished a 22 ounce Tbone. Eat enough real food not to be hungry. When you are off the sugar you can adjust your fat content and food intake if needed.

1 bulletproof coffee, if it helps you stay keto, I don’t believe is bad. Coffee is full of antioxidants. If you are at your goal weight I think it’s fine. If you are still losing it can slow down weight loss if you are adding a lot of fat. Many keto or carnivores I know still use coffee, though not excessively.
