Can’t even tell you how much I love this band especially this era this band got me through the worst of times and Rocky George and Mike Clark are the best guitar duo ever in my eyes
Rocky George ..... good grief what a monster guitar player. Words cannot do justice to his playing or his creativity. Damn. Mike Clark such a great rhythm player. Spot on.

Much appreciate you adding the (#timestamps)!✊ 😎 👍 It makes navigating the show so much easier than having to guess where each track is on the recording.
Man mike muir had ( and still has) his own thing going, he dressed like nobody else either you like it or not, and watching this now the way he moves on the stage is so unique it comes from the soul.

wow. i cant believe a recording of this actually exists. I was at this show. people were being hauled out on stretchers during this part it was so nuts. napalm death and sepultura also played this show. among alot of others. i wanna say white zombie played also but that was before they got popular.
Different show. That was the New Titans on the Block tour. Sepultura, Napalm, White Zombie, Biohazard, Scred Reich, Type O Negative but not ST. It was a wall to wall show. People had to head ride into and out of the bathroom it was so crowded. www.setlist.fm/setlist/napalm-death/1991/the-ritz-new-york-ny-4bdda306.html
Many, many thanks from The Netherlands for posting this video! According to the things Mike Muir said between the songs, this must be the October 20 1989 gig at The (New) Ritz theater, 254 West 54th Street, the former and infamous Studio 54 Club. Kreator and Gothic Slam were support act. I searched for this gig for many, many years. Hope this is the right one, but I'm almost sure it is. I was in New York for two weeks at that time and I was there at the The Ritz too so I can't thank you enough. I was a fan of ST since maybe 1984/1985 or so. I was there with another Dutch guy, but not a fan really. I warned him that it could be fierce and even violent night. Before we went in a guy already came out of the theater with his face covered with blood. My mate didn't want to go inside the theater, but I insisted to go in, because we already bought tickets. Inside I bumped to a tall guy, it was mister Joey Ramone and his red haired girlfriend. We went to the balcony, because we thought we were more safe there, but if I remember it well, than there it was also very fierce and the theater crew fucked up many times the audience. It was a night to remember, so it's great to have a piece of personal history here. As Sideler74 said it was one big mosh pit, but you can't hear the crowd, because it sounds like a soundboard recording. Funny to see Robert Trujillo again in September with Metallica in Amsterdam, after 28 years!
I was there if this is 10/20/89. I still have my ticket stub. It says it was $15.50. What a bargain. I was 18 yrs old. It was a violent night. Standing room only. A lot of skinheads were there. If I can recall correctly I remember someone getting stabbed inside. It was very tense.
This show is basically the entire tour/budget that the same label they were on at this time gave them for doing the infamous Double-EP "controlled by hatred/feel like shit deja-vu" released 3 days before this fridaynight event. In other words when ST was at their peak (#best album🥶) overall musicianship punkness streetcred jamming originality moshpits hole#stomps to ketchuppacket3Dglasses wearinmfrs
Yes thank you very much , i have also been searching for this show i wad there and to the guy who comented on the balcony ,, I wss the guy who did two one after yhe other ran full speed and used the back of someons head as a spring board landened one some else then run back up right between the sucurity thst just chssed me up the first time ,sa show to rember ill say when we left yhe whole street was a riot so i had to take the sodewalk tacking out news papper stands .if you rember me tje only guy to do two leaps off the balkony that night let me know
1:06 - TRIP AT THE BRAIN 5:26 - MASTER OF NO MERCY 8:12 - WAR INSIDE MY HEAD 11:35 - I WANT MORE 14:34 - FEEL LIKE SHIT 17:46 - I SHOT THE DEVIL 20:09 - POSSESSED TO SKATE 22:40 - I SAW YOUR MOMMY 27:38 - THE FEELINGS BACK 30:41 - JOIN THE ARMY 35:36 - PLEDGE YOUR ALLEGIANCE 39:46 - SUICIDAL FAILURE 43:27 - HEARING VOICES 47:57 - INSTITUTIONALIZED 52:18 - HOW WILL I LAUGH TOMORROW
I want more is my favorite song by them. It almost has a hardcore pink floyd vibe to it in the beginning. Back then hardcore singers didnt actually "sing"
I was at this show at the ritz NYC 1989 ..I’m surprised to find this recording…I never forget this show or any SxTx show I’ve seen …..thanks for posting ….ST 4Life
I think the join the army was the best line up because louchie mayorga was still in the band, he co wrote the classics on the first album and join the army. Plus add Rocky that was the best ST line up
Thank you so much for posting this, really takes me back. Mike Muir and Mike Clark are so fun to watch. Just awesome. I wonder what Mike Clark is up to these days? He kinda fell off the face of the earth and it sucks. Suicidal for life!!!
Fun fact last time they were aloud to play in Michigan sorry guys if you someone has video of the opening bands pantera and exodus you will see why it was a blast 26 ambulances
I was there too. I found my ticket stub. It says oct 20, 1989. $15.50. I was 18 years old. Wasnt gothic slam and kreator the opening act? Do you remember a lot of skinheads there.? I do. I remember someone getting stabbed. Does that ring a bell?
@@hackattack7811 The Ritz was always full of skinheads. The dude that got stabbed sold me a hot dog on the way in he was one of the vendors. He was laying in the exit on the way out. People were just stepping over him?
Anyone know who else played than night? I remember hearing about this show, but for some reason couldn't make it. From what I remember this was a pretty big deal and I think they played with a couple of well known bands.
Pantera Played This 1 Also. Pantera opened for Suicidal Tendencies at The Ritz NY and Became a Favorite Instantly. Phil Had the Helicopter Cut that he spun the entire show.
This was the Ritz in NYC. I was there. Oct 20, 1989. I still have my ticket stub. I believe kreator and gothic slam were the opening act. My ticket says it was $15.50. Imagine that.
