Former educator and your nailed the first day of school outfit. The addition of the cardigan is a must. Most teachers I know had a “school” cardigan that just lived at school. I loved the plaid shirt.
Teacher in England here..this is still the same here, I have a school cardigan, and I know sooo many others that do. Some classes are hot, some are cold 🤷🏼♀️
I am a speech pathologist who works in the schools with k-6 I would 1000% wear that teacher outfit and it would be appropriate for my district!! I love making fun outfits. The dress code really depends on school.. our district is very casual mostly just dont wear anything too short, see thru or low cut and you're fine, and jeans only on fridays 🙄
I love the whimsy goth outfit for transitioning from summer to fall. When August rolls around, I start wishing for fall and wanting to wear darker outfits.
As someone who has worked in different office-y environments, I'm not sure what biz-caz or smart casual is either. Every place has its own take on it and it depends on the specific type of job. I've seen everything from slacks with blouses to leggings as pants. The only thing that was required of me was closed toed shoes because I spent time in a lab.
At this point, I’ve got your channel running in the background all the time. If I need inspiration to just get out and do something, even if its wearing a new thrifted top or trying a new game with friends, you’re a great example of how to step outside your comfort zone. I would love to see a video where you style a week of outfits for corporate America from your own wardrobe. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into your channel! 😊
As someone with raynauds, thank you for mentioning your circulation problems. Air conditioning makes me sooo cold and I keep forgetting to bring a jacket, or wear socks and sneakers inatead of open toe sandals.
Love the overalls outfit. I work from home and I like to not feel like a slob but I cannot deal with jeans or anything that’s like tight on my stomach when I’m at home all day so overalls and baggy dresses are my absolute go-to when I’m WFH
💚 First of all, let me just say that your hair looks great. The layers and the waves frame your face perfectly. They look natural and so effortlessly fresh. I think a picture of you with this hair style would make a great profile pic for your channel in my opinion. Also love the outfit @ 5:17 with the leather vest, the blue slip dress and that nice heart choker necklace; it’s giving Sabrina The Teenage Witch 2024 vibes 💚.
The business casual outfit is cute! I need to wear my vests to work soon. My office is on high more conservative end of business casual which means no shoulders/ tanks with thin straps, nothing low cut, no jeans, no sneakers, no skirts more than 2-3 in above knee, and no athleisure. I usually wear slacks and a tee/ blouse or a dress and blazer.
The bar/club outfit looked great. In my opinion it would be perfect. And the most important is that YOU feel good in it. Love the business casual outfit! You did a great job with all the outfit scenarios.
I'm a teacher in Belgium... I'm nearly full tattooed and I have facial piercings, and I'm kind of a "style chameleon" (I can go to school in a girly dress and the next day in a jeans short or in a jog pants ^^)
My recommendation for an outfit to make friends that never fails me, my beret hat with fox ears. Boom. Adorbs. Also just love your making friends outfit in general, it is so fun and cute while still showcasing your style!
OMG the whimsigoth outfit is definitely 10/10! I've also been leaning into the whimsigoth style and slowly thrifting the pieces I need to feel like a 90s witch 💜
Your 'teacher' outfit is totally like what my daughter has termed my "teacher clothes." I would not wear a white skirt with fifth graders though. I'm with you, too, on being cold. I almost always have a cardi or jacket with me. Great video. Thanks.
for humid summer like japan - linen and cotton gauze weave fabrics are a life saveer! also bring a summer umbrella, hankerchiefs to wipe down sweat and portable fan
I've been told t-shirts are not "business casual" and not work appropriate. 🙃 But I've also worked for some really jerky people lol. I loved the business casual outfit! A button up tee tucked in may be good too, if you're like me and work for jerks. Loved all the outfits tbh.
To a event with unknown dress code I would wear a cotton maxi dress with flat shoes and take a pair strappy heels with me to change into if too casual 😅
I've lived in a place where the summers had humidity above 90%. You could basically swim in the air. Basically do everything calmly and when you get too hot coold down in place with aircon and drink lots of water . Embrace the clammyness there is nothing you can do about it
One I'm genuinely wanting advice with. Dinner out with family/friends but the period bloat is off the charts. Its happened a couple of times and I've just had to struggle through the tightness of my jeans at the waist, which would be perfect and comfy any other time. (leggings arent my thing btw, too clingy)
i am a teacher too! i laughed when you said we deserve good AC- i've NEVER worked at a school that has AC! they don't usually install it in school buildings since we're out for the summers... but even here in the northeast it's HOT in june and september! i die every summer hahaha
Another school based speech-language pathologist here! (I see some others in the comments!) I always fixate on my outfits because I want to be cute, following the dress code, able to chase children who may elope, and have the option to get on and off the floor throughout the day. I loved your teacher outfit! The layers are definitely important, you never know if the AC will be blasting or if I’ll be working up a sweat.
Hey Alexa! These are all such cute outfits! Where did you get that adorable whimsy goth skirt at?! If you could please let me know I would really appreciate it! :)
All of my mum's life lessons turn out to be true! In this case 'it's always better to be dressed up, than dressed down for an event when you don't know the dress code.'
Speaking as a teacher: Do kids spill on me? Yes. But more importantly: do I spill on me? Yes. Loved all these, especially the mini dress and cardigan 🫢
Hi Alexa! Do you happen to know the brand of the short sleeve lace cardigan in your "back to university whimsigoth" outfit? I've been trying to thrift one like it for over a year now with no luck! Thank you so much!!
I feel like maybe I'm just a prude but I always think outfits that show your shoulders aren't work appropriate 😅😅 maybe just because all the jobs I've ever had were pretty strict about that lol. But if y'all can get away with it more power to you
Your business casual would still be too casual in many environments. T-shirts are still a no-no in office settings, unless worn under a jacket or sweater.
I used to watch your videos a lot but I feel like they lack some creativity now...To be honest the outfits are pretty cute but they miss something, maybe playing with new hair styles, make up and more accessories with some outfits would give a cooler vibe than just wearing the clothes.
Definitely filming these types of videos in the summer makes it difficult to try more things out! If I put my hair in a different style, the sweat makes it then impossible to style it in a different look for the next outfit like it then doesn’t hold the style it was originally so usually for outfit videos I can only stick to one style (my hair was so nasty by the end of filming my INDYX video because I kept having to style it differently). I have also leaned more into simple styles and explore what styling makes me feel comfortable vs just throwing a bunch of stuff on to make the outfits seem more interesting, but I can understand where you’re coming from ❤️ sometimes though after I film the video I’m like darn I should have added XYZ but I don’t have time to refilm it which is why I’m starting to use INDYX to planning my outfits out for videos.
