a big reason a lot of consumed and early raf has fading like that is because in Japan a lot of houses don't have dryers so they sun dry most clothes. Since a lot of the raf around cycles through Japan thats a big reason why.
i never knew this, that’s super sick. i also think that the treatment raf did for consumed and virginia creeper degrades the color and construction as well so it fades and wears faster than normal
You're def not wrong - being a former Japan resident. But plenty still dry their clothes on indoor drying racks. Most countries in general don't have commercial tumbler dryers in homes as I didn't have them in most my living situations hopping through Europe and SE Asia. I learned to appreciate that, as machine drying clothes constantly damages them overtime. I personally only hang dry most of my clothes indoors and use the dryer for low maintenance clothing (house clothes, workout, underwear, etc).
