Hi Patrick, and all other fans. Once again, thank you for the great effort and time you've put into this video. I'd rather pay my TV license fee to you! Thank you. Let's all enjoy the rest of the summer. 😀🍻
Hi pat I'm 16 and for Sheffield and I started watching your channel about a year and a half ago now I found your channel by searching Sheffield in on RU-vid and ever since I've thoroughly enjoy watching your video Keep it up
Hi Sam, great that you have enjoyed my videos, I try to vary my content as much as possible, hopefully you may try a wild camp one day.... all the best Pat 👍
Yes it was my lockdown project, all I wanted was hand pulled beer and it sort of grew from there, amazing place to while away a few hours……..thanks Pat
Patrick Dickinson...Man of many talents, Skills, Interests...Cracking good vlog as usual m8..What a great place you have Big mancave of a garage, Your own Pub and Beer Garden..And obviously a partner who just lets you live your life just as long as you take her Dancing..BRILLIANT.
Hi Pete, you got it about spot on there, and true J have acquired what I want oner the last 40 years and yes I tend to do some of what J want, but not everything, also alot of what I I do is between my viewer's and me, she does,nt get to know everything that goes on, all the best Pat
Hello Pat! Lovely seeing you again! No camping here in BC as we have a horrible forest fire season. So these videos allow me to keep my sanity with these scary times! Be well mate and cheers! One day, I’d love to buy you a pint in your pub 😁
Another amazing video you are a world leader of are time if it’s from wild camps to pub tour’s or even exploring hidden areas in different towns there never a dull video on your channel keep up the amazing work
Morning Pat, can't wait to watch this later with my other half! We were only saying last night we were looking forward to your next video 🙂 Hope you & your family are well! Your biggest Sheffield fans, Leanne & J! 😁 x
Hi There - nice to see you squeezed a “how to do it” video in - give s an insight for non campers like me to see how to keep it simple and good. Looking forward to your next wild camp - enjoy a beer kind regards Rob
@@patrickdickinson6492 I'm no camper or climber either but enjoy your videos to get inspiration for more comfort on my allotment.. and really appreciate seeing my city from different perspectives (and hearing your stories.) Thank you!
Hey Pat! I hope the youngsters glean some gear knowledge from your video. In 1987 I used a hoop bivy and Svea 123 stove while solo wild camping in the fjells near Kendal, and in January 2021 at 19,000 ft. in the Chilean Andes I used a down bag bought for U.S. $70 in 1973. I am sure you get the same joy and satisfaction as I do from still using the same gear down through the years. Pieces of my kit are like old and reliable friends, triggering many happy and fond memories. Cheers Mate!! I will also tilt a pint tonight in your honor.
Great comments, and just how I think about older peices of kit, they might not be as effecient as modern kit, but the fact you have owned and used it on so many trips makes it priceless, like you say, camping with old friends.....thanks Pat
Good for you Pat. You always keep us happily entertained. I am a bit behind with my RU-vid favourites and intend to watch you, Martin Zero and John Rodgers later today. Keep them coming and wish you well.👍
I have done basic. With a orange bivvy bag (plastic type) and a sleeping bag inside. Normally used as an emergency. But have used it to teach other folk to keep safe.😄😄😄
Thank you for the video. Just a few points from my experience: OS have an app that works great specifically when you download a route in advance. Then you can follow it when there’s no reception and it’s significantly clearer and more precise than most GPSs. I used it to do the C2C and it worked so well I didn’t need my compass or my paper maps or my GPS or asking for advice once. It’s best to draw it yourself in 10m scratches then download all the sections to your phone. As far as water filtration, I finally dropped all the lightweight ones and went for the GRAYL Geopress. Yes, it’s heavier but it does kill bacteria and viruses and although the pressing can get hard it takes seconds which to me beats standing there like a goof filtering water for 20 minutes. I look at it as insurance. The knowing no matter where I am I can filter out water that is actually safe makes all the difference in the world. BTW, to anyone watching, I recommend a 1:25 speed.
Thanks for the tips, not a fan of technology, give me a paper map and compass and I,am fine, water filter interesting although very happy with my new befree filter, I,ve got all the time in the world, what,s the rush !.......Pat
Glad to see you back again Pat, It`s always great to see your videos having a pint of real ale and getting out into the countryside we love all your adventures, All the best old son!
Afternoon Pat, hope you are well! My friend’s birthday is on the 30th at The Beer House, Ecclesall Road- a pub I know you love. I was hoping to see if you wanted to come along as a surprise? It would be the best present he could ask for! Cask beers on us! Hope this reaches you, Tom
Hi Tom and nice to hear from you and yes the beer house is a favourite pub. I,am afraid on Friday 30 I will be going on my first proper pub crawl in York with a old friend I have not seen for 18 months, still a bit wary so probably stick to beer gardens, really kind of you for the invite, thank you so much.....Pat
Pat: great as always.. very neat to see some of the equipment you take.. maybe sometime you could show us the actual packing of the back pack.. I’ve yet to master a proper pack.. Cheers, as l drink a few with you as l watch!! Your a gem for us all Pat and it’s a much appreciated time spent. I thank you for your efforts!
Wow! I've got the very same 30 odd year old bivi bag ! Love mine too. Last time I used it I slept under a hedge near Leighton Buzzard whilst walking the Grand Union Canal walk. Fabulous. Great video Pat.. Oh and that beer has got me well thirsty !!
Thanks Andy, this one was a bit late, been away on a narrow boat on the Trent and Mersey canal near Stoke, perhaps back in the pub later in the year, all the best Pat
Hello Oldden. As a newly qualified pensioner, your certainly not letting the grasses grow around your feet. Your an inspiration to the young and the more mature person alike. That perfectly pulled pint looks brilliant. Are you installing a window in the pub? Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers. Pete.
@@patrickdickinson6492 You're very welcome! I'd love to come along on a trip, they look so serene. If you ever need recipe ideas for an evening, my "recipes" playlist on my channel has over 100!
Great advice and suggestions as ever. Always professional and always appreciated. A bit hot in the pub but, the beer is nice and chilled. Cheers, another grand video.
Thanks Pat! Totally with you about the midges - camped up near Redmires reservoir a few years back and ended up looking like a dot-to-dot puzzle... never again!!
Really impressed you can get everything into a 45l Pat - I only camp in the summer, usually to link up big hillwalking days and only ever one night, and my 65:75 Lowe Alpine is fit to burst! That said I do have a 2-man Robens Starlight II tent which, although is excellent, is a bit too big.
Hi Ian yes I decided if I had 45l then I would not carry too much, some of the old gear might be heavy, but the build quality is so good.... thanks Pat
Brilliant Pat, totally brilliant. Been looking forward to this all day since I got the notification this morning. It did not disappoint. An ideal and informative review, man you’ve got loads of gear 😀. It made me think back to my bivvying days in the 70’s, in an orange Karrimor plastic bag! Did summer and winter bivvies in that. Happy days. All the best Pat.
Hi Garry, yes you do seem to accumulate alot of gear over the years, although I tend to stick to my favourite items. Love a bit of bivvying, so close to nature and the real outdoors.... thanks Pat 😊
@@patrickdickinson6492 nice one. Quick question if I may, what software do you use to edit all your videos footage ... add music, captions etc? It certainly is very effective and you do a great job!
I have the same Oukitel phone, for the same reason of humungous battery life for outdoors, just arrived on a slow boat from China. It would also be great for weighing down a tent in high winds whilst pegging out :)
Pat! Can u do, from starting at ur home packing up ur bag heading out for a camp overnight.Using ur Equipment out showing what ur going to take and using on camp that next day. YHANKS!!
Love this channel. Would you consider organizing a big get together with your viewers sometime in the future? Like a big group hiking and camping party? All the best mate.
Another great vid how about a railway line one pat.just below sheffield Station some great woodland stealthy close to the lines near to scrap and builders yard, make a great vid pat.
@@patrickdickinson6492 nice! Hope you had a good time on the narrow boat! It's great that you don't post too often and I don't mind the wait. Some channels post too much and gets abit boring haha
Just sat watching your latest vid Pat another brilliant video, Just one question what is your tiny lantern called and where would I buy one from please ,keep up the great work bud
Hi and thanks for your comments, the little lanterns, one I bought years ago, although it was led, but no idea what make or where I bought it. A few months ago I bought a coup!e more on eBay, searched for micro led lantern.....hope helpful...Pat
Great video Pat, a credit to you for looking after your camping gear. Enjoyed the video, looking forward to your next camping adventure. All the best 👍
What a blessing you are to us all dear Pat. A great video - so helpful and encouraging for people to get out and enjoy nature! PS. That pint looked pretty good 😋
Thank you so much Ginette, hopefully show people they do not need too much gear to get out and have a bit of adventure, both pints were very nice, but a bit strong at 5.9 %.....thanks Pat
great informative video, I cant have out to drink for a few months and watching you slurp that pint down i was salivating lol, cheers pat and looking forward to the next video
Hi Pat, hope you had a fantastic break on the canals. Thanks for your latest video, giving your advice and experience and seeing the beer garden 😁 Really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one 👍
Absolutely love watching your videos Pat, so chilled out and relaxed. You talk a lot of sense, definitely agree with the lightweight/comforts piece. Thanks for the laid back, Sunday evening viewing. Mark👍🏻
