enlisted ask me all all the time what it's like to be an officer. I tell them all the same thing.... How dare you speak to me. I kid I was down at the 10th medical group yesterday. that base is friggin gorgeous.
Another great vid wild blue yonder. You said some programs are competitive. Any idea how cadets are racked and stacked? Guessing academics (GPA), leadership (flight ranking, k- tests), and sports (CFA, D1 sports, intramural, etc)? Also, do cadets have a choice of which 3 week block they get leave? Obviously, it is built around other class schedules. Is Airmanship (jump) offered all 3 sessions?
How cadets are racked and stacked (known as Order of Merit): There are 3 main pillars at USAFA --> Academics, Athletics and Military. Each cadet's order of merit is composed of all three of these aspects. Academics is 60%. Military is 30%. Athletics is 10%. (according to USAFA Registrar Curriculum Website) Academics: academics classes and physical education classes Military: leadership within Cadet Wing, leadership classes Athletics: PFT, AFT, and physical education classes Summer: Cadets get to put in preferences as to what they want for each period. Whether you get what you want depends on a variety of factors (order of merit, scheduling conflict, etc). Airmanship, to include jump, soaring, RPA etc, are offered all 3 periods of the summer.
Would it be a good idea to be enlisted in the air force with a career that has a 4 year contract and with the GI bill program, attend college and get my bachelors degree once my contract ends, then try to become a pilot or go through the USAFA and graduate with a bachelors degree then try to become a pilot? I am asking this because my way is much easier, and it is very difficult to get accepted into the USAFA. Any tips?
Man should I get a quick degree in BMS (multidisciplinary studies) - aviation or finish my degree which is (Aviation - Professional Flight) I plan on going to OTS and putting my package in when im 365 days out from my degree.
Oreo Gaming Any branch will let you choose your job, but any branch can also choose where they send you. They’ll take into consideration what you want but at the end of the day it is the military and if they have certain needs they’ll put you where they want
I’ll be Class if 2023 and want to do spec ops. Does the Academy get slots to go to military schools over the summer such as airborne, SERE, Scuba and others?
You can submit an application to USAFA just like a high school student would. If you want to enlist, then you would have to speak to a recruiter about starting that
It really shouldn’t. If you get accepted into the academy you’re basically all in on their behalf. If that’s the case they would have charged people to attend
There are different kinds of cadre= BCT, ESET,Summer seminar, and I believe sports camp. The summers before your junior and senior year you are required to have 1-2 leaderships (any of the ones I mentioned earlier)
