I understand that, however, cooking the sauce/ragu low and slow, brings out the natural sugars from the tomatoes, eliminating the need for added sugar.@@adoreivette7373
Tip: use some pasta water to can of tomato sauce or jar of pasta sauce to get all the tomato out of jar or can and use that to add the water to sauce. I get all the last of the sauce drippings that way. 👍🏼😊
My Marinara sauce never tastes good enough unless I slow cook Italian chicken or pork sausage in the saw for an hour and add lots of Parmesan cheese in the sauce. That’s why I just rather buy RAO sauce.
I save all of my Parmesan cheese rinds all year in a freezer bag in the freezer to drop in my spaghetti sauce when I make it. You don’t eat them, it’s just for flavor. It makes a big difference in the taste and it reduces waste.
@@robertlafaye9172 Warn people eating about them before they eat. I sent some spaghetti sauce home with my son once and he called me later asking what the chewy things were in the sauce. 😂
Right? I usually put only a couple spoons and I've never done the chunk of cheese thing... maybe that's what my sauce has been missing? I have so many new recipes to try now!
@@gabedavv What's the Difference between Pizza Sauce and Pasta Sauce? Pasta sauce is similar to pizza sauce, but they are not the same. The main difference between tomato sauce for pasta and pizza sauce is that pasta sauce is cooked in the preparation of the sauce and pizza sauce is an uncooked tomato sauce that cooks along with the pizza. But to each his own, right? 🤦♀️
If you want italian recipes, check someone that is italian. And no, american of italian descends ARE NOT italian 😅 italians are people that actually lived in italy for real.. for example: she put the piece of pecorino in the sauce.. I wanted to cry, literally 😂 don't do that, is sooo wrong, that's not how you use it
MAKE THIS!!! I just made this for a potluck - I haven't made home made sauce in over 20 years. This was so easy and so delicious - we had a potluck and fed an army. I used all the spices as shown and it was beyond yummy! I grilled some spicy Italian sausage on the side for meat lovers and it was the hit of the party! 🤤
I make my Sunday sauce using just 4 ingredients and it is the most delicious sauce lite in texture and full bodied can be used for everything,,I’m from the region of Puglia
@@lauryn7840unless you live in Italy it seems pointless because your ingredients are likely to be inferior. I’m not saying this as a snob but as someone who has tried to recreate old home made recipes many times with very little success
For a sauce, all those ingredients are too much. Oil, onion or garlic, crushed tomatoes and if you like hot chilli pepper. Absolutely no wine and no cheese, no herbs, just two or three basil leaves. Parmesan or pecorino cheese is only put on the pasta at the end. In Italy we make the sauce like this
Except you can make anything however you want. Fun fact, but most every recipe is just a derivative of another, and there is no "correct" way except for the very first, which is usually worse anyways. Don't be snobby. Let people make things how they wish to make things. This coming from an Italian, btw.
You got the San Marzano tomatoes right, but your ingredient ratios are a mess. All you need is a little extra love with some fresh garlic, onion, olive oil and basil, salt, pepper and a pinch of red pepper flake if desired. Good quality San Marzanos do not need tons of herbs and spices, just a few hours of simmering.
Thank you for this recipe! I cooked some sweet and hot Italian sausage in my air fryer and then added it to the sauce! My family loved this recipe! It tasted better than when I cook my sauce on low heat for hours.
Made it, delicious! I got to drink over half a bottle of red wine after I made it too! I'm going to use it some chicken parms I'm making tomorrow for a party.
Each region of Italy prepares dishes differently. There is no right or wrong way. I prefer pasta with meat, but I am learning to like meatless dishes. If you add enough garlic, olive oil, parmesan, Pecorino, onion, it will be good.
Not bad for a quick sunday sauce. My grandma and my mother after her started their sunday sauce at 6 am. When I was a kid once a month my mom would make an all day sunday sauce, using some that day and freezing 3 large containers for the next 3 sundays. That all day sauce made the entire house smell like heaven. Yes my mom is half Italian.
My mother always put some sugar in all recipes that had tomato sauce or Tomato paste. It takes the acidity out of the taste & also keeps you from having to take or chew a big whitetablet for acid indigestion. The most i ever added was when I used 10 lbs of ground beef to make cuban Picadillo, added 1 Tbls Of sugar. No one has ever noticed any difference in the taste. Also I used to Use a lot of yellow tomatoes fresh, they are not as acid as red. Well that is me.
