I think you could actually. I always get confused, let me go back and read the card again and what not and figure it out.

@@D20Woodworking Alright thank you! It would makes sense that you could see the damage that was going to be dealt then play the card because Desperate Defense is a Hero Interrupt. At 17:00 it would have saved you from playing Desperate Defense and you could have saved it for another turn when you were being attacked for 2 and you had 4 Def. I guess you still wanted to be readied for your next turn, so Desperate Defense works fine for that.

@@adamholt5395Hi When you give a facedown boost card to the villain, you have to decide if you want to defend or not. If you decide to defend, you can commit cards like « Not Today » since this card says « when you defend ». So you commit this card when you decide to defend but before revealing the boost card. Same goes for « Desperate defense ». Both are Hero interrupt, so their effects apply before resolving the attack. If you play those cards after revealing the boost card, it would be the same as choosing to defend after revealing boost card. On the opposite cards like « Counter-Punch » are hero response, which means that you play those cards after revealing boost card. Hope that helps.
