I've never commented on your channel because I watch your String-Along broadcasts on my television app. I got on the computer today to write this testimony of the effectiveness your Music Ministry sharing the Greatness of God! Last year I was in the darkest of places and times in my life and your heartfelt messages finally reached my hardened heart, my hard head and broken soul. Thank You Brother Doyle you helped me to come back where I belong; Thanking and Praising Jesus Our Savior and Our Holy Father for all the circumstances and people working in goodness for the Glory Of God! I am forever grateful. You and your family remain in my prayers. And oh how I love your guitar playing! I hear the Joy of the Lord when I hear you play!!!

Thanks so much Doyle! That old gospel stuff reminds me of my dad, he played and wrote and sang country gospel songs. As you shared about your encounter with Holy Spirit, I was reminded of Julian of Norwich, she had a precious encounter with Jesus not unlike what you describe. You had a mystical experience with our Lord. Thanks for sharing and for all you do 💜🙏

Hearing you play those old songs reminded me of a dear friend that went to heaven about five years ago. He had a wonderful singing voice and strummed old gospel songs on a an old Gibson J45. All the songs had to be 3-chord songs because three chords was all he knew how to play. But, boy could he make music. I played bass with him at his house, sometimes, all night long. He'd start playing a song (many that I had never heard before) and ask "do you know that one?" I'd say "no, but you just keep your left hand where I can see it and I'll make it up as we go." Thank you for reviving that memory. By the way, we all love that Porter Wagoner story.

Brother Doyle, thank you for your words today. St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus - the Jesuits - wrote, in his book Spiritual Exercises, a prayer called Suscipe, which is Latin for “receive.” “Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, All I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace, which is sufficient for me.” You are in good company, brother. Amen.

Doyle you have so much joy when singing it is just wonderful! You sing to the glory of our Savior and Lord. Love the old hymns you do select. A great balance of the more modern worship type and the well-respected older standard hymns. I also enjoy the secular tunes you have composed and do play too (and the others of course). I look forward to these Sunday String Along videos weekly. Many thanks. P.S. Loved that Travis guitar pat!

Doyle, i have never seen anyone play fingerstyle as intricate and with as much tone and feeling as you. What a talented man! I studied classical for two years and that helped me play blues and other styles later in life using a thumb pick like yourself. You are an inspiration to me and many others! God bless you and thanks for these String alongs. It's my church now when i have my espresso in the morning! take care, tom in maine.

Again Doyle you have knocked out of the park but of course God’s leading can and will do that, I too listened to wan on my transistor radio that I still have , a 1956 -1957 a Coronado, Gambles brand and it still works you are right about receiving of which I struggle with but recently I was given a 70’s era pioneer receiver and speakers like we had in our early days and it still works and is complete except for the record player and one day I’ll find the right one and then I’ll be able to play our vinyl gospel albums. Btw I have gotten our old HisSong group songs on you tube if you are interested but don’t feel like you have to listen a lot of our music was written by group members, love you Doyle and we continue to pray for you and your family

Of course we didn’t have the GOO in the UK but we had a country music radio program every Monday evening of BBC Radio 2. I had a radio cassette recorder and I would record the songs I liked and then learn to play them on my guitar. That was how I learnt so many gospel songs as well, including “I’ll Fly Away“ from a version by Charley Pride.

More than once now your message mirrors what I have just read in my Amplified Bible, just as your quotation from Acts this morning. I take that as something very important, similar to what you spoke of when musicians receive a song from the great transmitter in Heaven. Some people would call it synchronicity. I call it divine intervention. Does your lovely wife have to do all the dusting of all your collectables, lol 😂 Blessings

Thank you Doyle for sharing these timeless classic gospel songs written by Albert E. Brumley. Love hearing your stories of when you worked for Grandpa Jones. He was a funny man with a lot of talent. I’m blessed to have met Albert E. Brumley in 1974 at his annual all night sing in Springdale, Arkansas. I needed to hear these songs today and the words you shared. My dad went to Heaven 9 years ago today. I’m so thankful I’ll see him again. God bless you and your ministry and thank you for your Sunday Morning String Along!

I really enjoy these Sunday String al long videos. Having played flat pick all my life, I'm trying to learn the Travis picking style. I haven't been able to use a thumb pick yet. My favorite song was on another String a long , the song was What a Friend, brought back memories of my childhood at penticostal revival meetings. God bless you mr. Dykes. Love the Martin, picture a 5 year old boy learning the chords C F and G on a big ole D28 65 years ago.😂

not to take anything from Mr Brumley, but I'll Fly Away was penned by a African American lady, i believe from Macon, Ga area. her grandaughter had a book of poetry written by her. i don't know about the music. don't know how or when Mr Brumley heard the song.

You're the first person I've heard to having met Alfred E. Brumley. There's probably not a person who hasn't sang his 'Camp Meeting' songs, as they're listed in the old hymnals. BTW, the old D45 isn't quite as ornate as the modern ones?
