@@bkh5746 they could, but it would make the coil more shorter in height hence much lower play and not so deep excursion since it travel less than the 3 inch coil. in other words, it seems useless when the sweetspot is at 3 inch coil with exact frequency tuning. you can notice this on huge PA speakers where they use 4 inch voice coil, it sure kicks your heart out and surely loud but only has less excursion travel than car subwoofers.

I'm not a sundown guy so I have a question is the sddn a whole new combo ? Or is this the same sub with different colors or is this sddn have tsp all new numbers being a different sub the specs can't be too different of what u guys have had for years or am I totally wrong here.
You don't have to do it at all. You can just install the subs and play at full tilt and all other volumes regularly. They will break in when they break in. Of course if you need/want the best and loudest sound immediately then sure do this.
Wait what!!! You said if you want to run only one amp to one you can only wire it @ .5 or 2 ohms. .. but when you said run two amps to it you didn't say the same ohms... Does that mean two amps give you one ohm? For a single sub
So does the SDDN follow Sundowns conventional method of rating them half of what they can actually handle? 7k wrms, would that be unrealistic for the SDDN to handle?
youre not putting 7k to any sub nonstop. you wont catch anyone doing it on youtube. now i may have misses the hz hes running that sub at tho if you look at it its near maxed out. go 5-6 more on the vol the sub will bottom out. on a higher hz lets say 35-40 put 7k to the sub it will burn up with in 30 mins if it lasts 10 mins.
absolutely zero, typical sundown giving the same subwoofer they have been for years tho over charging the customer as usual. how sundown is managing to fool people all these years by making sligh changes then claiming its a new subwoofer idk lol.
You can use any amp if you set the gain properly! I use a 175.4 on my tweeters 😂 haven’t blew a set yet or the 8’s I run to! Over power is better then trying to make a smaller amp run over what it can and distorting it that’s what kills stuff.

Seems like sundown has something they are trying to prove all of a sudden, dont get me wrong theres things about their subs i love one of them being the massive surrounds and theres things i dont like. over all free airing a subwoofer outside of breaking it in it overt all useless. can not show what a sub can take free airing as when the subs installed in a box everything changes. as for taking a temp reading while free airing again pointless.
@@packetauditor ya i watched the video and i know why they are free airing the subwoffers. i knew it was only a matter of time before someone came in with sundown excuses. wild guess youre gonna say the same thing to the otehr videos sundown has done recently done with other speakers when they were point blank showing what the subs can take and the temps? fun fact for ya youre not doing a ts test for measurements on a subwoofer when the sibs got the specs for the proper enclosure already specially when the chances of a consumer doing an enclosure accorsing to specs are slim to non. i owuld suggest you stick to what ever it is you do and well we in the car audio community will do what we do. sundown is well known to do randome videos like this when they are about to release a new sub with "wink" "wink" sundown is about to which is even more funny as Jacob the owner of sundown said himself in a video the new sub is the same subs hes been selling just with better cooling tho hes going to charge more. if you arent following the community not best idea to speak on the stuff.
The infared gun its such a lame attempt to show temperature after turning off the woofer. You do realize coil temperature drops rapidly the second you switch it off. You started looking at the coil a good 50 seconds later. Iv tested this shit before. Any decent coil can drop over 200f+ in that time. Not only that, they are inaccurate, the closer you go to whatever your getting the temp off, the temperature is usually higher. Take it back further and its like 100f cooler. Lame
thats the kicker about it all lol, sundown does literally the same thing all other companies do well other name brand companies do tho claim its the best of the best. its called marketing. fact is for real life performance im talking installed in a sustem performance this over all is useless. as for the temps given its the biggest load of crap ive seen in a while.
