New parts arrived so we put the "guts" in 'er. Installing crank and bearings, sleeves and pistons, time the engine and set the valves.

Thanks to your videos i got the courage to overhaul our IHC MC Cormick BD434 myself, your videos are awesome and very educational you saved me a lot by teaching how to DIY and what to expect time whise ... just did a complete fluid swab, brake system clean and brake readjustment, cooler flush, cooler brazing, coolant hose change, changeing all filters, changeing thermostat , use citric acid and pressure wash coolant channels, new oilpan gasket, new head gasket, readjusting valve play and resealing the vale cover as well as sandblasting and high temperature laquer coating the exhaust, washing out the gearbox with and hydraulic tank with diesel and converting the tractor to a 2 way hydraulic by putting a return line from the front and the rear into the hydraulic tank cap with a 4 way valve, a 3 way valve and a shutoff valve from the hydraulic block for a front loader and rear hydraulics including a hydrauklic top link also build a front hydraulic lift cylinder for lifting a front counterweight and installed LEDs on the roof frame, had new safety glass windows whatercut and installed them myself and fibreglassed the roof still i got to do more like reseal the front PTO for the sycle bar mower becaue it appears to be pissing gearoil, while im at it ill degrease and check the clutch... i gotta split appart the tractor for this, and that will be the first time of me doing this ... with a bunch of carjacks in a haybarn

@@CanadianRedneck15 oh yea forgot, i shimmed the front axle swing, regreased and tightened the front wheel bearings and rear wheel bearings, glued in neodymium magnets into all oil plugs that didnt have one and I replaced the lifting strut and swing limiting chains of the 3 point hitch, cleaned out the fuel injectors and gave them new seals

@@CanadianRedneck15No problem thanks for puttign yourself out here , as opposed to much educational content its a pleasure seeing your videos I may assume you do a whole bunch more than you show on camera and do stuff like that fairly regularly? do you own a tractor shop or are you a collector? Well yes i sure hope i get it leak free i dont demand as new performance, its unappealing if you leave dripplets of oil whereever you drive and have a tractor full of oil and grime It really was necessary since it had the original filters from 1968 still installed... fuel return lines were cracked , as were the coolant hoses the diesel filter was leaking through rust holes imagine that motor oil filter and hydraulic oil filter were ripped apart and did no more filtering for god knows how long for being run clogged up without changeing....

@@prinzeugenvansovoyen732 It definitely sounds like your tractor was due for some maintenance. I operate a tractor salvage yard and do some repairs when I'm not too busy and my father and I also collect a few letter series Farmall tractors.

One thing I like about these old tractors are parts are so cheap if you look.. India produces a lot of it
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 года назад
Yeah, A lot of our cast parts come from India, Turkey and that area. Thanks for watching!

Can You say "OLD SCHOOL". Thank you for the video. I've said this before, the farming community must love your workmanship that you and your father has done. I, myself and many others are wondering how much an engine rebuild from start to finish cost. (ball park) THUMBS UP

Parts, machining and labour will put this around $2000-2500. Thanks for watching!

Dave I have watched this several times as I have a motor waiting attention .Should we keep the push rods in order

Another awesome video Dave! Do you use the same motor oil that you'll be putting in the tractor for lubing the bearings and cylinders?
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 года назад
Yes I do, mainly it's just to have a little lubrication on everything for the first start until the oil pump gets oil through everything. Thanks for watching!

Hi Dave, great video. Is there an actual “top/bottom” for the main and rod bearings as long as the tabs are lined up in the groove?

There doesn't seem to be on these, they appear to be equal halves. Thanks for watching!

I have a question my friend, will a super A engine buckle up to a 100 bell housing and clutch assembly ? I sure am enjoying your channel. Thank you for sharing this wealth of knowledge.
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 года назад
Yes, the engine will bolt right in, you may have to jiggle things around for hooking to the rad but otherwise should be easy. Thanks for watching!

Hello very informative and interesting to see how they engineered the oil seals with felt amazing! I was surprised to see that the governor had to be timed ? Can you explain to me why , I am really curious. I really like your oil can I have a similar one but much smaller. It must have been used or designed for a specific purpose do you know does it have a story behind it? Finally I have a question that is sort of off topic but my Ford 8N will not idle down unless I push the rod from the governor to the carburetor with my finger, and I lengthened the rod from the governor to the throttle control as long as I can. Would you have any idea how I can rectify this issue I hate having the engine over rev like that. Thanks I am looking forward to watching the next video on this project!
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 года назад
The governor has to be timed because it drives the distributer. It's not so important with the distributor as it is with a magneto as the magneto can only fit in one of 2 spots 180 degrees from each other. Without seeing what is going on with your governor it's hard to say what the issue is. Check the throttle linkage for any binding/rubbing that could interfere with proper movement. Thanks for watching!

So new head, new pistons and rings? What was wrong with the old head?
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 года назад
It's the original head, just reconditioned, (crack checked, planed, new exhaust valves, and valves ground) and the crank was turned .010 on the mains and rod journals. Thanks for watching!

Dave - do you use plastigage
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 года назад
It is good practice to use plastiguage but I rely on my machine shop to hit the specs and they are very reliable. Thanks for watching!
