Looking for a good magic deck for beginners? How about Modern Orzhov Aristocrats? Today we look at a good magic deck for new players that tries to kill your opponent by sacrificing creators, that's right it's MTG Aristocrats. In this deck we are trying to get the Blood Artist Combo to do passive damage to out opponent. We do this by using a little Reassembling Skeleton combo that makes this Black sacrifice deck trigger our Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat again and again and again.

My list goes like this: Lands: 4 Concealed Courtyard 2 Temple of Silence 4 Evolving Wilds 6 Plains 6 Swamps Creatures: 4 Viscera Seer 4 Doomed Traveler 4 Bloodsoaked Champion 4 Zulaport Cutthroat 4 Cartel Aristrocat 2 Skirsdag Highpriest 2 Xathrid Necromancer 2 Anafenza Kin-tree spirit 2 Murderous Redcap Other Spells: 4 Lingering Souls 2 Go for throat 2 Tragic Slip 1 Murderous Cut 1 Hero's Downfall The list still goesfor like 45 dollars :v And it works very well.

I don't intend on building aristocrats for modern, but I can agree it is VERY fun to play as I have across formats. Certainly an interesting way of playing the game.

The best aristocrats deck, in my opinion, are saproling varients. Saprolings can go wide with ease with an in archetype blood artist and different sac outlets. The deck can easily alternate between aggro and aristocrats.

What do you think about Hidden Stockpile? Getting a free 1/1 on each of your turns sounds like a pretty good deal, particularly since this deck looks pretty grindy. You can even use it as a backup sac outlet, or as a way to mitigate flooding.

really cool budget deck tech! i found that budget decks can work surprinsingly well. I think for the Abzan variant there are two additions worth mentioning that are budget options as well: Blisterpod and Bloodbriar. Blisterpod is basically Doomed Traveler 5-8 with the added benefit that you can ramp with the token and Bloodbriar can just become huge with all the sacing involved in the deck.

Yah that's why I mostly make budget decks. It can be harder to win but it's not impossible. I'd say I have a %20 - 30 win rate against the Top 8 decks. This means I often lose the match but win at least one game in that match.

but...it's not only harder to win with them but sooooo much more fulfilling :D 30% isnt that bad, actually =) the surprise element in game 1 can be a big help. another thing i like is, that you can learn so much from building budget decks. I think it helped me as a deckbuilder a lot to create some decks on really tight budgets for buddies. You discover so many small techs you didnt notice before.

Agreed I also find that you get more creative with interactions. Learning how to squeeze ever last bit of value out of your cards. Also I know most of the viewers on this channel play at less competitive stores, so lots of my budget decks do quite well for them. I on the other hand play at one of the most competitive stores in Canada, so ever game is against Top 8 decks. I love it but it's so hard!

I feel you...the modern events here at my local store are really competitive as well. Last time i participated, i went with a budget mono green list and my match ups were Affinity, Affinity, Grixis Delver, Infect x( it's hard to budget but keep it Alive//Well ! =)

ouch. My LGS has a wide spread of top 8 decks. BUT during Eldrazi winter there was about 8 Eldrazi decks running around, that sucked.

Bloodsoaked champion can do the same thing as Reassembling Skeleton, as long as it's you're turn and you've attacked with at least one creature. You can sac and bounce the Champion at instant speed, so it doesn't matter that you're already attacking. he's also pretty cheap, and he's a human, which means you can rejigger the deck to take advantage of some human synergies with him and Xathrid Necromancer, who is also really cheap.

I haven't taken it to play in modern yet, but I have a golgari aristocrats deck, and I have that in there. Personally, I think he kind of overlooked some of the other budget options for either going golgari or abzan, since there's some really decent golgari stuff that you can run. Sadly, you don't have lingering souls in golgari, but you get lone wolf, blisterpod, as well as some of the other cool stuff that was in the standard aristocrats decks about a year ago. I'm also surprised that he didn't include at least one or two copies of Rouge's Passage, which, while expensive on mana, is a very important finisher card if you end up grinding out with the incidental life gain from creature deaths, and otherwise can't finish the game.

First off I'd like to say that I love this deck!! I am a bit more of a casual Magic player, but I LOVE finding budget decks to pick up, change around, and play with. I really like the upgrades for this deck as well, but my question is whether or not this deck by itself could be good enough in a FNM event? Does anyone have any other suggestions for upgrades to this deck or stories of success with this deck! I'd be pretty stoked to hear what people have to say!

+Andrew Sokolowski is this deck good enough for an FNM night. The answer is yes. There is a guy that played the upgraded version of this deck at my LGS and he does well. I don't think he's went 4-0 but he wins matches.

No :o It doesn't say whenver or if on bloodthorne vampire. A creature sacrifice is reqired as payment. Just like the activated abilities require mana. This is as if you would be asking: Can I use the same mana twice?

Soul Sisters is a better and more constant deck BUT Aristocrats has a 70% win chance against Soul Sisters... so there is also that.

Is it possible to build a Modern Aristocrats by using many cards from the Upgraded BFZ Event Deck List (www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-magic-standard-gb-aristocrats-event-deck-upgrade)? It should still be budget, but the cost can be 50€ for the cards which are not in the List I linked, since I already own these.

All Standard decks are Modern legal. If you want to upgrade the BFZ Event Deck, a lot of the cards in this video are a great place to start.

Yah it’s the sad state of Magic at the moment. Everything is going up in price like crazy. It’s almost impossible to build semi competitive budget decks for $60 or less any more. Even in Pioneer.

I usually set a monthly budget of $100 or less for deck building and collecting . It would be nice if they either reprinted or functionally reprinted stsples and cards used for specific decks.

Sorry, my mistake: Husk is a 2/2 for 3 and the Vampire is a 1/1 for 2, I thought the Husk is 2/2 for 2.

I tried to make it work in this deck and it just docent have the power you need in modern. Mostly because the trigger only happens on your turn.

well in all honesty the core package is 4 Viscera Seer 4 cartel aristocrat 4 blood artist 4 zulport cutthroat after that you can do what every you want.....HOWEVER!!!! in this deck just take out -2 bloodthonre vampire and -2 resaembling for 4 Vsicera Seer
