Su has said in an interview that pronouncing the english words in the lyrics like "crazy" with a japanese accent is a stylistic choice. It's like the genre blending that Babymetal does but with language.
@Jordan-Ramses
@Jordan-Ramses 3 года назад
As if that is a choice. She's always going to speak english with a japanese accent. The only way to lose the accent except in rare cases is to spend part of your youth speaking that language primarily. I know people who lived in America for 40 years who still have an accent. I mean, all of them do.

Meet the Western Kami band, all the musicians are Western, not the usual lineup fron Japan. In 2019 when they toured in the West, they sed a new Kami lineup. Then on the final shows of the tour they did a two night gig, using the Eastern Kami night 1, and Western Kami night 2. This is from night 2. Thos song is a tough one to translate, there is a lot of onomatopea in it - is she saying swaying? of fluttering? or dancing? Could be any of the three. The name of the song means Mirage, so the ambiguity seems to fit. And she is saying "crazy" in that part. The one part where Moa motions to the crowd is a bit famous. She wasn't happy with the energy level, so she asked for more, and they responded. She has come a long way in commanding the stage too. Love this song.

I'm a little surprised he didn't notice. Those are so obviously not Japanese people. I was skeptical of the Kami Band of the West at first too. And i understand that people don't like change. But they're great.

@@Jordan-Ramses They're great. I would say the Eastern Kami have a more technical vibe, but the Western Kami are more aggressive in their playing. Both styles work perfectly. I can say that having seen both.

@@Wombatmetal I agree, I think the Western Kamis are better with songs that have more American style guitars like Karate and Kagerou. I don't know about more technical. Is clean guitar more technical than dirty guitar? Dirty guitar sounds better and they do it on purpose. People say that classical guitar is more technical than rock guitar. I don't agree with that at all. Rock guitar sounds better. If you're playing classical guitar you're doing it wrong. But I get what you mean :)

This was one of three songs they debuted on the 2018 tour (with Distortion and Elevator Girl) and was known at the time as "Tattoo". It was a Su-metal solo song back then, later rearranged for inclusion on Metal Galaxy. Very cool song in my opinion. As you say, it's all about that groove. Also, yes, Su-metal was a great singer at 8 years old, a fantastic singer at 16, and since then she's matured and honed her skills and extended her stylistic range and on Metal Galaxy she sounds, frankly, incredible. I remember when I first heard PA PA YA!! that her rhotic trill (the rolled "r" sound) in "brrring it" and "matsurrri da" (not easy for some Anglophones, let alone a native speaker of Japanese) made me cheer with surprised delight. And then there's BxMxC. And then there's Shine. Absolutely amazing.

@Jordan-Ramses
@Jordan-Ramses 3 года назад
I don't think she is really much better of a singer. But her voice is maturing. It won't be fully mature until her late 20s. People judge her from songs she sang when she was 13 or 14. She still sang them well but you can't compare that to professional female vocalists who are full adults.
@ClawCarver
@ClawCarver 3 года назад
@@Jordan-Ramses Forgive me if I misunderstand you but you seem to be saying we can't or shouldn't compare teenage Su-metal's voice to adult Su-metal's voice. Why not? To my ears, the difference is huge and obvious. No disrespect to teenage Su is implied. As I said, she's been a great singer since childhood. But it would be weird (and disappointing) if she hadn't improved since she was 13 or 14 years old, especially given a decade of training and practice and professional experience since then. (One trivial example: it's not the case that Japanese teenagers can't roll their "r"s and then, when they turn 20, they suddenly can. It takes vocal training and practice.) So it's not simply a matter of physical maturation. Su has also expanded her vocal skillset to include new abilities and styles to enhance her performance. Again, forgive me if I've misread your meaning. We're all fans of Su-metal here. All the best.
@rakjr6
@rakjr6 3 года назад
Gods of the West Band at the beginning: Anthony Barone - drums, Chris Kelly - guitar, CJ Masciantonio - guitar, Clint Tustin - bass. The guitarists and bassist were members of the band Galactic Empire who opened for Babymetal in Japan in 2018, and Barone was from the band Shadow of Intent. They were the band for the 2019 US tour,. More recently in Japan they had both bands on stage together as well as all 3 Avengers in some of the songs. This song started out as Su solo in 2018 and was not officially named though fans read 'Tattoo' from the soundboard's set list sheet. Later became Kagerou officially and Moa and an Avenger were added. Galactic Empire's gimmick is that they dress up like the villains from Star Wars. In the Dark Carnival concert they had Galactic Empire and Sabaton as guests. For the song Meta Taro they had Chris Kelly and Joakim Brodén from Sabaton join them on stage. Nothing funnier than seeing Moa next to Darth Vader.

Great & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Su is singing about jealousy against someone using a metaphor of heat haze, "Kagerou". The hash emotion is shimmering from her blazing heart, and it seems to me that her emotion will not burst but turn into magma. It's scary😱 . The girls are adults now without doubt. As other viewers commented below. West (American) Kami band is in the girls' back. They are great, too. This "Kagerou" (formerly and tentatively known as "Tattoo") was premiered in USA for the first time in 2 ways. As Su's solo on May 8, 2018 and in 3-girl formation on Sep.4, 2019. Japanese fans could not see the performance live and had to wait until Nov. 2019. In addition, this song has been performed in Europe more than 20 times but in Japan only 7 times. Why ? that's not fair! I love this song!

In Japanese grammar, the subject is often omitted. On the contrary, in writing poetry, I think that it will be a poem with a lot of creativity by making its characteristics. As you know, the lyrics of BABYMETAL have its characters, but this song is also ambiguous. Even on the internet, there are few reviews of this song by Japanese Mates in detail as far as I know. So this is my interpretation. It is a rare love song for BABYMETAL. But it is not just a sweet love song. It is the song about swaying love or jealousy love. Kagerou (かげろう、カゲロウ、陽炎) means heat haze in Japanese. The flame of jealousy love burns up like Kagerou. The Choreography and camera works express it and are so cool. This song is much suite for now mature BABYMETAL. However, If Su- & Moa have already experienced this kind of painful romance and expressed this song, I would die in shock. Thank you from Japan.

I usually don't even try to understand them. I don't think it's possible for a native english speaker to understand Japanese song lyrics. It's not only a completely unrelated language but a completely foreign culture. I just listen to her voice as an instrument. Which i think Japanese people find surprising but shouldn't be. Considering english language artists are at least fairly popular in Japan. Maybe they thought that English speaking people just didn't like songs in Japanese because Japanese groups haven't been popular. But that really isn't it. I will admit i thought before Babymetal that Japanese music was just bad or something i was not interested in. But i think there are definitely things in Japanese music that westerners can appreciate. Just not all of it. I still don't like most Japanese groups. I think Babymetal mostly sticks to the part of Japanese music that translates to a western audience.

@@Jordan-Ramses I think the opposite is also true. I also sometimes try to read the lyrics of my favorite Western rock band, but I can not understand it completely. I know that Westerners often consider rock band vocals to be an instrument. However, I think we need not to understand the culture of each other completely. I don't know if you're criticizing me, or I wonder if it is offensive to you that I write a long sentence with my bad English, but you can ignore me, right?, sorry. (This might be also a cultural difference?, or I can't read your meaning or emotions from your writing with my poor English ability.)
@Jordan-Ramses
@Jordan-Ramses 3 года назад
@@minamihideki7123 - no i'm not criticizing you. It's probably my fault i am not good at text communication. I get bored with language and like to express myself in colorful ways that are confusing when it's only text. I responded because i thought what you said was interesting. I agree about not having to understand culture completely but when you have a completely foreign language and then different cultures and then also it's written in song form then that is a very very difficult puzzle. What i really mean is that when you are dealing with a song in a foreign language people should not form negative opinions. For example the english translation of Onedari Daisakusen. It sounds bad in english but i understand not to take an english translation too literally. It's clearly a cute and harmless song.

@@Jordan-Ramses I am so sorry, and thank you for your reply. It's the lyrics, represented by "I will become your bride, Dad", right? I want to write my opinion in detail here, but I don't have enough time or space. I think the lyrics are based on the culture of father-daughter relationships in Japan, but it is a song with a bit of exaggeration and fiction, but an exquisite song. Indeed, I think a little girl start to develop her own personality around the age of 4 or 5, and that daughter will first like her father. And it's true that the daughter tries to please her father and says, "I'll marry my dad when I grew up," However, it's an innocent word, and it's not a reality. Moreover, behind a cute face, It is almost Manga world that learning how to trick her father to satisfy her desires and she smiles as devil. However, I can imagine that it might happen, and when I listen to the song and laugh at it as funny, I suddenly feel that my spine is chilling. I think it is a song like teaching me that women, even a little girls, are not only cute but scary, as a bit joking and same as Megitsune' s phrase. In Japan, it is common for a father and a small daughter to take a bath at home together. Not only that, I often go to the nearby public baths, where some fathers and their little daughters are bathing naked. I don't feel anything either. There are sexual offenders in Japan as well, but there is no argument that this culture is a hotbed of sexual offenses. But at some point, daughters in their early teens suddenly hate their father as if he was dirty one. Su- and her sister Himeka seemed to declare that they would no longer be in the bath with their father when they were in the upper grades of elementary school, and that her father was quite disappointed. I remember reading it somewhere. That's why it's well-balanced in Japan as well. Originally in Japan, until the Edo period, it was liberating to sex. It seems that the public bath was a mixed bath of naked men and women. It came into contact with Western culture and changed little by little. Even I, a Japanese, imagine that mixed bathing will be confusing for sure. However, in some old hot springs in Japan, the culture of mixed bathing still remains. Even I, a Japanese, may not understand the Japanese feelings of the Edo period. Culture is relative even in the domestic. So I can't simply have negative opinion about it. I agree with you.

@@minamihideki7123 - little girls say that in America too, they don't realize that marriage is a sexual relationship or what that means. But people in America are very uptight about those sort of things. Not that it should be allowed but as a man you can barely even say hi to a young girl without worrying that people are going to think you're creepy.

Songs like this really show why the entire Babymetal project was built around Su's vocal talent and stage presence, and she has only gotten better with time. What's even more exciting is that female vocalists don't come into their peak until their late 20's and early 30's, so her best is yet to come.

⚡ 💕 / 🌡️ 🔥 I'm guessing they included a brief clip from the 2018 tour for copyright reasons. That way they're not using too much from the same source, and that was from a festival rather than an official blu-ray. It did look a little weird since the other clips were all from indoor shows with the same style of costume. The opening solos were by the "Kamis from the West". Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio were on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums. The first three are probably best known from their time in Galactic Empire, although Tustin played guitar in that group. Barone has drummed for quite a few bands, including Shadow of Intent.
