Finally. After losing 3 18:59's to Bowser and 12 runs to 8-4 total, I finally did it. The first ever warpless run under 19 minutes! I am so happy to put the first 18:XX up on the leaderboards.
This isn't the end of the line though. I see humans taking warpless down to at least 18:54 some day in the future. I don't think I'll take it that far, but I will be taking it down to at least 18:58 and maybe 18:57 and beyond! Tune into my twitch stream to watch my attempts live! / kosmic

Tbh, warpless is a much more interesting category than any%. So many more possibilities in warpless, not even a second at most can be salvaged from any but there is a long way to go for warpless. Congrats on first sub 19!

Draws Gaming it’s not that I’m fully pessimistic about it, my point was just that warpless is more interesting. Also what I meant by the second break thing was at most one second can be saved for RTA at max, which based on our current understanding of the game is correct. However, I would like to be pleasantly surprised.

I love that I now know the lore behind the sprites, thanks to Kosmic. Before this WR, I had no idea that Nintendo wrote in the sprites’ “black magic” ways, turning themselves into Bowser imposters. That’s obviously why when you kill Bowser in every castle leading up to 8-4, he turns into the ghost of a goomba, koopa shell, lakitu cloud or hammer bro etc. … Now you know!!

The heart-rate monitor makes this that much more epic. It starts off cool and calm, elevates once its clear you are in world record pace, fuckin' spikes during the last minute of the run when the world record is within reach, and goes EVEN HIGHER once you get the rush of beating the record

Don't know if it is a joke or not, but 150ish isn't actually that much, more so if you are young, and is even normal when you exercise, is nothing dangerous.
