Time to take a look at The Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode Koopa Klaus and Super Mario World episode The Night Before Cave Christmas. phelous.com / phelous Originally Released: December 19, 2012
Apologies for the overly hot audio on this one. It's the 1st video I recorded with a DSLR and there were some growing pains getting used to the new equipment.
This is one of my favorites. Calling Toad a mushroom of hate, the incredulous rage when repeating the verbal atrocity that is “Dino-bunga!” followed by telling Michelangelo “Look what you did” - these lines and more are what make this video a true holiday classic. And summing up Bowser’s villainy arc as going from blowing up a factory to stealing a sack in a cave had me in tears. What a sad career trajectory!
May be Toad doesn't have a birthday. I highly doubt his species actually celebrates birthdays, considering Mushroom people are properly all born or spored at the same time. O_O
What’s worse? A commercialized special pretending to care about giving on Christmas? Or A commercialized special flat out saying it’s not about giving on Christmas? The latter is worse when it’s Toad giving that message. What a shitload of shroom.
"Look! The spirit of Christmas Giving is touching everything!" ...it is? Cause if it's that aura around Toad, that DEFINITELY has NOTHING to do with giving.
Hearing bowser say he's off to bomb the North Pole always cracks me up. It's actually better than most villains plans to destroy Christmas . Also plumbers log, lol
17:24 Y'know in hindsight this actually is far more in character for Bowser to try and be a good dad to his kids now that that Switch parental settings video with him and Bowser Jr. is now a thing.
I have no idea what went through the writers' heads when they wrote that Super Mario Super Show christmas episode. Toad is such a selfish tool here, it's not even funny. He literally only cared about getting presents over everyone else's safety, not giving a crap about who would be hurt so long as he still had his present, and he gets encouraged for it? Yeah I dunno, that's a pretty horrible message. Especially when Santa basically says that's the "true spirit" of Christmas. I don't think I ever saw that episode as a kid either, and I'm rather thankful for that.
+Brandon Roberts LOL XP. Oh man you're funny dude you should get an award for best joke I heard so far as of 2016.:) But yeah in all seriousness I don't really hate Toad but his voice doesn't really help hell in the TV Shows his voice is obnoxious like you want him to just shut up.-_- But yeah in general Super Show IMO is a average show IMO.:/ It's cheesy but also stupid if that makes any sense. IDK I guess it has a little bit of charm for me but though when you see all the Animation Mistakes in the show you get the feeling like DIC (or as Doug would say Dick entertainment) didn't give a crap about the quality of the show. And plus the writing is just downright cheesy but in a Saturday Morning cartoon way.:/ But I guess then again if they had to make one episode per week they couldn't have fixed things like Animation Mistakes or get better writers on the show because of time restraints so I can't really complain to them about it.:/ (Hell I don't even think they're around anymore the last show I remember them making was Sonic Underground and that show also was terribly mediocre too.:/) It was obviously a silly cartoon with the Mario License and it succeeded with what it did flawlessly IMO.:) And plus it's not the worse thing the Mario Franchise has given us....(Insert the Live Action Movie here.-_- God that was a terrible movie.) BTW I keep seeing you in the comment sections of certain users on RU-vid I wonder are you a fan of the Super Mario Bros games by any chance?:/

As someone who had the DVDs of all four seasons as a kid, I can confirm this was just how Toad always acted. I think at one point he literally became a mad max style road bandit.
As a near 35-year old, I still enjoy the Mario cartoons as much as I did when they originally aired. Gotta love the music and sound effects! The live action segments are still entertaining, especially Captain Lou! I enjoy the silly stories and plots, and I even like the Rap Land episode; it's so laughably bad it's good.
I think I've figured out why the super Mario bros show never actually takes place in the mushroom kingdom. I think it's because around the time the show was released the mushroom kingdom didn't actually exist, instead it was called dinosaur land.
2:49 Morshu, is that you? 3:09 I would've called it "Tropic Land"... 3:23 Cut Sega some slack, Phelous. At least they renamed it "Cyber City Zone" before axing it entirely... 5:05 That stripe at the base of Peach's dress keeps disappearing. Either that, or she's using a turn signal. 5:28 You spin me right round, baby Right round like a record, baby Right round round round! 5:32 IT'S SUPERMAN! 6:02 GAME OVER YEAAAAAaaaaaa... Dammit, he survives it. 7:16 ♪"Do you want to freeze the North Pole?"♪ 7:39 Well, there _are_ these explosives called "dry-ice bombs"... 8:33 Jesus, Mario! Why are you working as a plumber? You'd be one hell of an anti-aircraft gunner! 8:50 "Am I glad he's frozen in there and that we're out here, and that he's the sheriff, and that we're frozen out here, and that we're in there and... I just remembered... We're out here. What I wanna know is where's the caveman?" 12:22 Only four reindeer? Damn you, budget cuts! 13:11 Oh, there's the caveman... 17:33 Great joke, Phelous!
I hate that "giving up something you always wanted" trope in Christmas specials...even worse in "The Babysitters' Club" as Kristy paid HALF for that glove per parents' agreement. Sorry, but losing out on that much money is just plain dumb, not kind hearted. In this case, it's just heavy handed. And this is way before Brian Bonsall became a punk with a police record... BTW, I think what annoyed me in "Super Mario World" is how incredibly "No Fun Allowed" the Princess's personality was. She was NOT like that in the previous cartoons. She fell in love while on vacation in Hawaii, went to a Milli Vanilli concert (Okay, not very good taste there...), but the point is, she was more carefree as opposed to how rigid she was in this cartoon.
+LaDracul I think when Super Mario World was made, they decided to make Peach a "Motherly" type of character, so as a result, she would push things like education, healthy eating, etc. There was even a point where she reprimanded Mario and Luigi for scolding Yoshi who had eaten their plumbing, claiming that he's "Just a baby" and "didn't know any better" which was total boosh as he is perfectly capable of understanding right from wrong by the end of the episode. Honestly I didn't mind her trying to be a positive role-model, but she really was a huge stick in the mud for SMW. That's part of why I disliked the show.
Honestly, the shows 'supposedly' geared towards boys do this where they make the girl the least likable ("Kirby Buckets" is the biggest offender) although some cases they do make her more fleshed out (Candace in "Phineas and Ferb") or just don't do it. ("Gravity Falls", for example.) Still, there's nothing wrong with being a voice of reason and still having some fun.
I believe I have a reason why they changed the accent from Brooklyn to Italian. Nintendo saw what a disaster Super Mario Bros. The Movie was and decided to distance themselves as far away from it as possible. And that included changing the accent.
I get that during this time period every single villain was required to be Scrooge/the Grinch for one episode only, but after getting so used to modern Bowser, hearing old-timey Bowser go on about how he hates Christmas is really jarring. Like. Modern Bowser probably _loves_ Christmas, in much the same way as a really snotty 9-year-old loves Christmas.
You're right: I imagine a guy like Bowser would love getting presents. That's what the He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special got right. Skeletor thought Christmas sounded like fun, but he had a different idea of what celebrating would be, like exploding present gags and brawling.
11:43 "Santa's workshop is useless now." ~Old man ...please tell me you thought of that but just chose not to do that for whatever reason, I was expecting that.
Don't worry guys, Toad gives his board to Santa to give one present to give to someone. It was just Phelous cutting out to make Toad portrayed an inconsiderate fuckwad which he was to begin with anyways.
My theory about the cave kids sliding for no reason is that it was likely an animation error that they covered up with a sound effect. Same thing happened in an episode of Dexter's Lab, where a group of people at the fictional pizzaria, Chubby Cheese, started flying for no reason.
4:21- After doing some research, I discovered that technically, fire flowers ARE in Mario 2. The original Mario 2 released in 1986, which was the perfect predecessor to the original Mario game, but not released in the U.S. until Mario All-Stars, because it was too much like the original.
Dropping bombs on Santa's workshop is an excellent plan. You're not only destroying this year's presents all in one fell swoop but you're also potentially killing Santa Claus, a lot of elves, and most certainly doing a lot of damage to the workshop itself. Even if Bowser only damaged the workshop that's still going to take at least several months to prepare and slow down toy production a lot, resulting in many kids next year either not getting their toy or getting a toy of subpar quality.
So, I'm watching these again, and something hit me. In the Halloween special, Dr. Koopenstein's lab coat goes over his shell, which makes his back look all gnarly. Here, though, Koopa Klaus's back is smooth, suggesting he either doesn't have a shell or it isn't spiked. Weird.
3:04 the sign says they're near the north pole, but the ground almost looks yellow, so I can't tell if that's supposed to be snow, or if they're in the fucking desert.
16:39-8:21-8:34 ILOVE THAT VOICE😹😺😸😂🤣😹😸🤣😂😸😹🤣😂😸😹🤣😂😹🤣😂😸😹🤣😂😸😹😹😂😸😹🤣😂😸😹🤣😸😂😸🤣😹😸🤣😂😹😸😂🤣😸😹😂🤣😸😹😂🤣😸😹😂🤣😸😹🤣🤣😸😹🤣😂😸😹😂🤣😸😹🤣😸😹😂🤣😸😹🤣😹😸😹🤣😂😹😸🤣😂😹😸😂😂😹😸🤣😂😹🤣😂😹🤣😂😹😸🤣😂😹😸🤣😂😹😸🤣😂😹🤣😂😸😹"
Nice. But you've forgotten the live-action episode "Santa Claus is coming to Flatbush", which sadly wasn't paired with "Koopa Klaus". Great episode though.
