The Worst Episode of Transformers - Phelous 

This is what happens when a script for JEM and the Holograms gets stuck to a script for TRANSFORMERS at the studio.

Possibly the worst sin committed by this episode is that "Carnage in C-Minor" is actually a pretty good title, and they wasted it on this.

Fun Fact Akom got fired from both Batman the animated series and The Simpsons because the episodes they animated for them had so many mistakes they had to be reanimated in house

"You erased my tapes!" Well RIP ravage, rumble, ratbat and co i guess.

"Beaten? Meeeeee?" The "Soundwave, are you getting this?" running joke was more golden than the golden lagoon that Beachcomber failed to save. Also I'm pretty sure "We won....." is what the showrunners thought when they got the finished animation back from AKOM.

I wasn't ready for the animation to be *this* inept. It really snuck up and *STALKGHJED* me.

The constant size-changing is freggin hilarious. Magnus picking up the Constructicons, Galvatron picking up Soundwave, this is so ridiculous.

I love the recurring joke of “are you getting this sound wave?”

I remember being horrified of the ending to this episode because Soundwave was upset that all his "tapes" were erased, not "recordings", giving an implication that Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, and Laserbeak could have potentially been erased and left braindead.

I think Transformers is a lot easier to enjoy if you just accept that cybertronians are all capable of growing and shrinking at will. It explains how all the Decepticons can fit inside Astrotrain and how Soundwave can become a boombox that isn't 20 feet tall.

I'm guessing when the characters in Beast Wars talk about the great war, this event is one that no one wants to talk about.

When you manage to make a child who watched this on their first viewing go "Huh?!?" it proves that it's a special kind of...special.

And here I thought this was gonna be the worst episode because Galvatron's plan to defeat the Autobots would be to "MAKE THEM FALL IN LO~O~O~O~O~O~OVE!" 🥰😘😍

I'm assuming AKOM lost the storyboards, model sheets, and key animations and decided to just animate everything from scratch.

So all it takes to defeat Soundwave is to press a button on his chest that erases whatever he recorded. Megatron/Galvatron's Right-hand bot everyone!

I’d only heard about this episode’s insanity from the Wiki when I would browse it during college lectures. This is a new plane of madness I was not prepared for.

Everyone going on about B.O.T., I don't think that is even the dumbest episode of Season 2 let alone the series. Don't get me wrong it is an insultingly stupid episode but rewatch the episode Prime Target if you haven't seen it in a while. It has way more idiotic nonsense per second than B.O.T.!

The funny thing, Broadside had potential, a reluctant veteran soldier who is drafted back into war once again, despite not wanting to. Of course, this ended up being butchered to the point I think no one has bothered to touch Broadside, asides from IDW

I guess galvatron was jealous of soundwave of the time he became the oversized "sound recorder/armourrakker", so he decided to become bigger than soundwave.

It's episodes like this that remind you that there's a timeline where, thanks to multiverse shenanigans, all the animation glitches are canon. Those poor transformers.

Even "shot in the shoulder" is a better Fatality than Liu Kang's "spin kick into uppercut."

Soundwave and Devastator on the same scale just before the Constructicons combine to form Devastator? Give it a minute, there'll be a manga to explain that away and force it into continuity. "That's actually Action Master Devastator and Soundwave, time-travelling back to take part in the battle. They're stoned off their collective gourd on Nucleon."

Love how Soundwave is beaten by Blaster bad-touching him. Also, could THAT be how Rumble, Frenzy, and Laserbeak were written out of the show? As in, Blaster LOBOTOMIZED them when he erased them?

I have to admit this episode is something of a guilty pleasure for me. Idk, I guess it crosses into "so bad, it's good" territory. The animation errors (my favorite one is Galvatron and Soundwave holding hands...assuming that was actually an error, lol) and aliens' awful singing never fail to crack me up. Plus, like you said, it's nice to see Soundwave play a bigger role again.

I will admit, the bad animation and writing aside, it is kinda nice to see Galvatron and Soundwave still being buds to the point of them holding hands. The banter you added with them though made me laugh and choke on my tea. It's so funny

I still think Huffer's name appearing on Daniel's list instead of Brawn's name was probably a script error. Oh, well. Either way, I'm glad they eventually brought Huffer back as G1 GoBots *Road Ranger* !

Sometimes I seems the writers of these shows just make up the plots as they go, but after watching all those Dingo Movies I'm sure this was a blessing.

This episode looks like the cartoon equivalent of one of those meme-filled song mashups you see on Clone Hero or Soundcloud. Made with the intention to bait, switch, and confuse. Hopefully to the point where you give up and laugh because you can't think of any other option.

Not that I’m surprised considering this episode but props to Broadside for his purple Autobot insignia at 5:18. Presumably an ingenious tactic to confuse the enemy in the heat of battle.

Years later, Jim Sorensen (via the "Ask Vector Prime" column) claimed that the Eurythman Harmony could warp the fabric of spacetime -- meaning that all the animation errors (even Hotspot appearing next to Defensor) actually happened, and had an in-universe explanation. This is what happens when you get the same guy who wrote The Allspark Almanac and Challenge of the Gobots: Virtual Season 2 to handle the Q and A....

The insane amount of errors, the ridiculous sing-song "language," the bizarre facial expressions - it's all too much. I can't process all this at once! I'm going to have to re-watch this video in installments so I can properly recover from one blunder before another smacks me in the face. Thanks for finally making this incredible video! So, fun fact time! In later years, the "Ask Vector Prime" column on Facebook retconned all the errors in this episode as collateral effects of the Harmony.

Anti-sound is a real thing, strangely enough. It’s a concept that is used with noise-cancelling headphones and such. Basically, a sound wave is emitted that has the same amplitude as an existing sound wave, but an inverted phase (the timing is inverted so that the second wave has peaks when the other one has troughs, and vice versa). When the two waves hit each other, they combine to form a third wave. And because the two waves are basically the same one, but inverted in shape, the third wave is totally flat, and makes no sound at all. It’s called destructive interference. So, for all the DUMB stuff this episode does, “anti-sound” is one idea that actually does make sense, and works basically as shown.

Galvatron sure has the winning attitude when there's an inconvenience in his plans because he groans while keeping a smile on his face

The singing people reminds me of that episode of Power Rangers Zeo where the monster of the day cast a spell on Tommy and Tanya causing them to sing and rhyme as they talk.

I’ve never even seen a full episode of G1 Transformers and I can already tell why this is the dumbest episode.

That episode was extra confusing for me because I misheard the name "Zebop Skandana" as "Zebop's scan data" and thought the Decepticons were trying to extract some undefined "scan data" from these three individuals beyond just recording their voices.

Dang Phelous, your editing and sound edits this episode were top-notch! Now I want to see more full-episode riffs like this!

Just wow even by 80’s cartoon animation standards this is really bad. Was Akom just lazy or just incompetent? Maybe a little of both.

This one makes me feel like they originally made it as everything that you probably shouldn't do but it got sent with the episodes for this season of Transformers

Oh man, I had honestly forgotten how bad this episode was. I didn't like Season 3 at all, but this is just uniquely terrible. "Everybody look alive-sorry Brawn" "Ultra Magnus, it's really nice of you to keep those dead autobots another chance" Perceptor taking out Devastator in one shot; it's as bad as the film killing off everyone really easily Galvatron x Soundwave OTP 21:21 Nonono, it's like this: Quan Chi: UUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 22:45 YES . I would also have accepted a song from Coming Out Of Our Shells "Wow, what a stupid solution!" I love these Transformers episodes.

It wasn't until the very end that I realized this episode is so wildly inconsistent I actually forgot that Ulta Magnus wasn't the Autobot leader. I'm not sure if that reflects poorly on me or Rodimus.

You can always count on Cheap 80's Korean animation to make Dingo Pictures look like Studio Ghibli in terms of consistency. Speaking of Japan here's hoping we get to talk about the Omni Productions Dub of Transformers Victory Or Super Sayain God Masterforce someday.

6:36 Rodimus primal mentioned that in Japan transformers the movie came out later and no one told them the characters death, and Prowl was also seen their from a clip he showed,so the Bionaltech storyline had to come up with a reason why both Wheel jack and Prowlwere alive again Wheel Jack was around time interference from an enemy and allies helping him,while Prowl was Chip Chaser from G1 reborn as a audobot.

It's amazing how inconsistent it is. It's like they made an effort to change random features of the characters every shot.

It's like as if the producers of the G1 cartoon tried to tackle their own adaptation of Jack Vance's classic sci-fi story, The Moon Moth (which happens to feature an alien civilization that only communicate via singing and musical instruments).

For some reason, Soundwave calling Zeebop "somebody else" has always made me laugh.

Makes sense I guess, he is an early model combiner, but still pains me to see how every new character proves they are badass by beating him up. He is the Worf of Transformers. And btw, wait until you see in Headmasters, the autobots literally one-shot Predaking the same way...
