Great stuff. I like these in-depth retrospectives, and you manage to be relaxing instead of cramming jokes or outrage.

One thing galaxy does best is “harmony” all of its different aspects aren’t perfect or the best, but they work with each other. Moment to moment wise, really fun, of if my favorite games

Loved the video man keep up the good work! Especially when it come to the editing, that was some professional level stuff there. If I was to give any criticism, and this is definitely a very small point to make, I feel as though the video sits in an awkward spot between a super long video ( talking like 3 hours) where you go into lots of detail about each nook and cranny about the game and a shorter form video (20 - 30 minutes). with regards to some aspects of the game you go super in depth, such as the music which I found very interesting. but when it came to other things I feel as though they could have received more attention, such as the bosses. King Kalliente for example, which in my opinion is the best boss in the game. but other then that its a great video, Mario galaxy is my favourite game from my childhood so it was nice to hear someone else's opinion who had also clearly had a strong love for it from a young age. i produce similar content to you, so if you wanna chat more about it and my thoughts then just hit me up :)

I love this video and think you did a great job, but I'm curious as to why you have an issue with remixing old music? the airship remix in Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada was great in my opinion (I think it's the best version of the theme) it fits the stage well while also giving an update to an old song that people liked.

Galaxy 2 is the best game ever made imo. I think its the pinnacle of level design in gaming and is honestly pretty much a perfect game fundamentally - only problem is the green stars which only really need QoL improvements (not kicking you out of the level and such). It doesn't focus on atmosphere as much but I don't mind since it clearly has different goals in mind.

beautiful retrospective

I really liked the video. I’m going to leave some feedback, feel free to take it or leave it, as a lot of it obviously comes down to personal opinion, and it’s not like I’m some sort of absolute authority on video essays. First off, I think that the script is really well done. Even the first part of the video, which you believe to be weaker than the end, is clearly meticulously crafted and thought through. I do think, however, that the middle would ideally be trimmed down. You don’t have an obligation to talk about every section in equal depth, and it seems like the essay gets a bit bogged down by it. This ends up leaving some pretty impactful analysis to languish in the middle of decidedly less interesting sections. I think that either logically grouping some stages together to form patterns and offer feedback on those groupings would help trim the video down (which, to your credit you touch on at 21:10-ish, and in bits and pieces throughout the section). Otherwise, focusing the bulk of that section’s time on the most emotionally impactful galaxies/levels (i.e. the really good levels, and the worst or most disappointing ones) would be a good way to narrow that section down and make that commentary (which, again, is pretty well written) shine. I also think that your voice is pleasant to listen to. For the most part, the calm affect that you have fits the often serene nature of Mario Galaxy well. However, at times it can be too much of a good thing, and I believe that varying your tone a /little/ bit more would help to keep viewers engaged and better reflect the clear passion that you have for the subject. To be absolutely clear, you did a stellar job in delivering your lines with clarity and precision, and your delivery is an absolute far cry from some other video essays I’ve listened to where I couldn’t stand the voice over. What you have is working, and you don’t need to drop everything and attempt to change your voice because some moron on the internet told you so. Like everything else, little improvements can reap big rewards. Lastly, I think that the “establishing shots” that you’ve taken using noclip.website are really something special. Not only do they serve the purpose of giving an insight into the atmosphere and graphical styling of Galaxy and its associated galaxies, they also help to firmly entrench the tone of the essay from the first second of the video. No caveats here, they just work really well.

dunno if this was mentioned but you said you were surprised kingfin got his own original theme but it was in the game before for bouldergeist

Hi, just wanting to point out some little mistakes 1) i mightve forgot but i dont think you talked about bowser jrs robot reactor ever at all 2) Yes, the ice flower first appeared in the beach bowl secret star, not freezeflame 3) Kingfin didnt get original music - its the same as the Bouldergeist theme 4) You dont have to beat the game for the gateway purple coins 5) Not sure but you mightve forgot that the ice flower was in deep dark galaxy 6) When talking about melty molten there was different music for the star ball 7) Mystery music is called space fantasy... btw 8) There are only 3 green stars, the 4th place in the trial galaxies is the 100% final level reward BTW I LOVE THIS VIDEO SO MUCH PLEASE MAKE ONE FOR GALAXY 2
