Do you like theory/predictions videos like this? I feel odd about them sometimes cause let's be honest, it's me talking out my a... side of my mouth LOL! But if you like these, I might think about making some from time to time. Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

"It's a me, Mario. I'd like to talk to you about the Smash Bros Initiative."

I really want Charles Martinet to be older Mario now, that’s actually a cool idea.

I predict Charles Martinet will still voice Wario in the movie, like how Wario got full dialogue in WarioWare Gold. In fact, remember in the Ducktales reboot, Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck was voiced by Chris Diamondtopolus, while Jim Starling/Nega Duck was voiced by Jim Cummings, the original voice. So it would be nice if inspite of Chris Pratt as Mario, Charles Martinet will most likely voice Wario if that character’s in the movie.

It's a very specific ask, but I've always kinda wanted to have Chris Pratt, Jack Black and Seth Rogen in the same movie just to see what happens when these very specific energies connect with each other.

I love Charlie Day. But nobody could beat John Leguizamo's line reading of: "Nah, Luigi Mario." But that is definitely the scene I'd love to see referenced either way. Lol

Ok, so hear me out. 1. Jumpman and Pauline are Mario and Luigi’s parents. When the stork is handing out M&L to thieir parents’ home, Kamek tries to kidnap them so they don’t grow up to full-fill the prophecy of them becoming heroes and beating Bowser and the Koopa Kingdom legacy. In the process, Yoshi saves them (along all the other babies) and brings them home in the Mushroom kingdom. 2. Jumpman is from the Mushroom Kingdom, but somehow, he ends up in the real world and meets Pauline. He saves her from Cranky Kong (original Donkey Kong) but Cranky ends up in the zoo. Jumpman thought that they’d take care of Cranky Kong so he leaves with Pauline to the Mushroom Kingdom. So DK Jr. (the next DK) saves him and they come back to their island (not real world, same dimension a Mushroom Kingdom). 3. When Jumpman and Pauline learn about the prophecy and that Kamek is after them, they send M&L to real world so they can be safer. But Kamek knows this, so he creates Baby Wario and Baby Waluigi to be their nemesis in the real world. 4. M&L grow up to have multiple professions but their main one is plumbing as of the moment. They get a report that there are weird animals in the sewers and when they investigate, they get sucked into the Mushroom Kingdom. Wario and Waluigi spy on them and follow them. 5. Yoshi recognizes M&L bc of their hats and their resemblance to their father and helps them on their journey. Along the way, they meet E. Gadd, who is the inventor of the power-ups and coins in this dimension. 6. Mario meets DK, who has a grudge on him, thinking he’s Jumpman, but then they resolve their problems clearing everything up, knowing that Jumpman only wanted to help Canky. 7. Mario meets Peach and Luigi meets Daisy. M&L, P&D, E. Gadd & DK and Yoshi go against Wario & Waluigi, Bowser and Bowser Jr and Kamek. They fight and everyone uses power-ups but the good guys get the upper hand and win. Bad guys escape for the moment. *Post-credit scene #1*: Luigi gets invited to come to E. Gadd’s mansion in summer time (in a few months time) *Post-credit scene #2*: Mario learns that his father is still alive somewhere *Post-credit scene #3*: DK goes back to his island, only for Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to tell him that Cranky has been abducted by King K. Rool. *Post-credit scene #4*: Toadsworth is looking the stars in the night through a telescope and sees what appears to be a comet and it divides into two. One lands far away and the other a bit near. The far one is Geno. The near one is Rosalina in her spaceship with a few Lumas. *Post-credit scene #5*: E. Gadd is working on his lab on inter-dimensional portals, when he finally cracks the code and opens a portal that thorws up a few items from other Nintendo IPs or video game IPs (Kirby’s star, Link’s sword, Animal Crossing Leaf, Pokémon Pokéball, Sonic’s Ring…)

I'm guessing Charles is just gonna be the "Stan Lee" of the Mario universe... basically if they do more mario / Nintendo related movies.

Everybody focused on Mario and Luigi, you’ll need to focus on the real star - Toad. If Keegan Michael Kay is voicing him, you know some slick shit coming out of his mouth.

Charlie day playing Luigi implies Miyamoto must be some kind of fan of It’s always sunny in Philadelphia, and that’s something I love.

So, here's the thing: I've been going over this a lot and I'm thinking that the casting of Chris Pratt as Mario is giving me an idea about what kind of movie we're getting. First of all, it's entirely possible this is just some bog-standard stunt casting like in a bunch of other animated movies from the last few decades (FOr all we know, somebody from the studio found Pratt on the set of the next Jurassic World or whatever and asked him to come talk to an Illumination casting director). However, I wonder if someone at Universal/Illumination was watching The Lego Movies or Onward (another movie about two brothers on an epic adventure) and looked at Pratt's characters in those movies like "This is the energy we want for our Mario". The thing about Mario is that he's kind of a cypher. Outside of a few details, there's not much to his character other than being generally upbeat and heroic. Luigi is more defined, we know he's got a lot of nervous energy and he's kind of a coward (I can see Charlie Day pulling this off nicely). For Mario, it's not anything that specific. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the studio/filmmakers saw these Pratt performances, characters who are also very earnest, friendly, upbeat, etc. as inspiration for what they wanted and ended up landing Pratt himself for the role. With that in mind, here's what I'm thinking the dynamic between our movie Mario Bros could be like: If this movie were to start in the "real" world with the Bros as plumbers, Luigi is the brother who's perfectly happy with this, while Mario is the one dreaming of something more. Once they get to the Mushroom Kingdom (I imagine a green pipe being involved), this is a dream come true for Mario. He's downright ecstatic about this new world and new possibilities, while the prospect of this weird new world is terrifying for Luigi. The arc for these two becomes about meeting each other in the middle and learning to be there for each other. Mario may want to be a hero, but must also look out for his brother (maybe also give him credit he deserves) and help him overcome his fears. Luigi must face said fears to come out of his shell and also be a hero, but he's the one that must keep Mario grounded on what's important.

Mid Credits Scene: * Kid in a varsity jacket shows up. Back of jacket just has one letter: N * "I'm here to talk to you about The Game Master Initiative."

Jack as Bowser: "This is a tribuuute!" Seth Rogen's DK: "My guy say this is called 'Banna Slamma'" Charlie Day's Luigi: "Mario, look around! We're on a SPACESHIP!" Pratt's Mario: *inserts walkman* "Shake your arms, from side to side...."

Honestly, I am expecting some kind of Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi RPG like story where Bowser seems to be the main villain but Kamek ends up being the main villain. However, your ideas of a young mario or "Jumpman" as the Dad, and Mario and Luigi visiting the mushroom kingdom for the first time seems very likely too.

The inclusion of Cranky Kong is the most intriguing to me. I mean, why is he even there? Donkey Kong isn't too surprising an inclusion but Cranky Kong seems an odd choice to dedicate a valuable character slot to. And since they cast a celebrity voice for him too, there is an implication that he's not just a casual cameo character. So maybe there being an older "Mario" voiced by Martinet isn't too farfetched.

I think Charles Martinet is going to voice God. There'll be a moment where Mario blacks out, or is at his lowest point or something, and then we hear the Charles Martinet Mario voice encouraging him to go on

I’m a little averse to Illumination even though I like the first two Despicable Me films. With this crazy cast and Nintendo at their side hopefully this’ll be to them what Spiderverse was to Sony Animation or Peanuts was to Blue Sky, a top-tier adaptation that somehow manages to work.

I’m thinking this might be an “origin” story of sorts too, especially if they throw Cranky Kong in there

Here's the truth I'm going to say out of my chest: A Mario movie is something I've been wanting ever since I was little. Now it looks like my dreams coming true

At the ending of the movie during the Post-credit scene Pikachu makes a appearance and tells Mario about the Super Smash Bro initiative

The movie is being told as a Flashback of Mario’s Origin. (Think Wonder Woman 1917.) Charles Martinet is playing the Present-Day Mario & is the Narrator of the Movie. Chris Pratt is playing the younger Mario who fights Donkey Kong & Spike at the beginning. The finale is Charles Martinet’s Mario vs. Bowser. Same logic applies to Charlie Day, Ana Taylor-Joy, etc. They are playing younger versions of the characters, and the voice actors from the video games play the Present-Day Versions of the characters.

It would be great if Bowser saw Donkey Kong and said, "Monkey!"

Yeah, I always thought it might be some kind of prequel to the basic lore. Most of the cast gives me "younger-selves" vibes. I also think it might end up being its own series like what Sonic and Angry Birds did with their movies (funny enough, your theory is sorta reminscent of how those two did their premises) if successful enough.

I want a Mario and Luigi reference, like them saying "let's a go!" "okie dokie!", or Luigi disguising himself as Peach, or them saying "Nintendo!" during the Nintendo logo

I think Bowser's song should be, "I'm The Biggest Baddest Koopa Around".

I'm gonna add my own thoughts after I watch the video to see if how they compare to Andre, but for now I'll say this: I'm choosing to be optimistic about what these casting decisions mean for the movie. Maybe I'm just being a contrarian to everyone freaking out (I STILL haven't checked Twitter becuase I'm afraid of what I'll find) but honestly this has been living rent free in my mind since Thursday and I think I've made a bit of a breakthrough as to what the movie could be about.

My greatest hope is that this movie still feels like a Mario adventure. Have him jump on some goombas, save the princess, fight bad guys.... that kind of stuff.

I honestly feel that this is the beginning of a crazy universe coming our way! Eventually, we’ll have our SuperSmashBros movie one day! Fingers crossed!

If we were to get a Legend of Zelda movie, Zelda Williams has to voice Zelda.

I really hope they include nods to Captain Lou and Bob Hoskins.

If this movie is a hit, I think we're about 7 years away from an Earthbound Netflix series.

We NEED a John Leguizamo cameo!

I wish they chose Gilbert Gottfried for Cranky Kong. The thought alone made me crack up during the direct.

4:05-4:11 Its confirmed and legit, both Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the creators of TTG, are directing the Mario movie which, as a matter of fact, its still currently untitled. Pretty important fact that we should keep an eye out for its how the movie will be titled

I've got two ideas for how to reference the older adaptations, if you want them: First, bring back Frank Welker as Yoshi. And this time, make him able to speak, unlike in the 1993 movie, which had him be a Jurassic Park reject. Yes, Frank Welker was the voice of Yoshi in the original movie. Yes, Kamek is voiced by a professional VA in the upcoming film. Yes, Yoshi is basically the Scooby-Doo of the core cast. It just adds up! Second, and this is more of a mockery than a homage, but there should be a line from one of Bowser's underlings about how he went through that "K. Rool phase back in the 80's." Not only would that further confirm the existence of DKC in the Mario mythos, but it would also be a jab at how, looking back in hindsight, Bowser in the DIC cartoons and King K. Rool in the DKC games look oddly similar in design. So yeah. If you like these, let me know.

I’m really scared for this film low key, let us not forget the first time Nintendo made a Mario movie it scared them so bad they waited 20 years to try again. I really really hope this movie does well enough financially and critically that Nintendo would make more of their ips into films or tv shows

Maybe Charles Martinet is gonna give Chris Pratt voice tips on being Mario for the movie. I think it would be cool if Mario and Bowser had a fun singing battle. Chris Pratt and Jack Black seem made for a showdown like that. A traditional fight would be fine too. I think we have a solid roster for the movie as is (game character wise). I don’t see a reason to insert Wario or Waluigi into the movie.

At first I was shocked that Jack Black is gonna voice Bowser Then I remembered he played R.L. Stine in the Goosebumps movies which I never imagined happening either So I’m not too surprised

Illumination usually makes sequels to their movies so a Mario sequel just might happen if this one does well

I honestly hope peach doesn’t become a “tough independent woman”. Just regular ole regal peach will do fine, of course she doesn’t have to be the damsel in distress she can just be Mario’s tag-along girlfriend.

You make a good point! Since the cast revealed that Donkey Kong, Cranky Kong and Foreman Spike are in the movie, then it has to be explore the feud between Cranky Kong and Jumpman. The ideia of the movie exploring Mario's characters in a way the games don't usually do is one of my main reasons to want to watch the movie. Edit: speaking of Kamek, It was said in one of the games that he had raised Bowser. So, I wonder if the movie will show us that.

I would love it if John Leguizamo (from the critically acclaimed movie Playing with Fire) made a cameo! Even something small, like Mario's uncle or something

I don't think DK is a cameo. The fact he was in the main lineup and Seth's name is on the poster makes me think DK is gonna be a main character in this movie. What if Bowser goes back in time to stop Mario before he becomes the princess saving plumber we all know and love?

So far we have Detective Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and (hopefully) Link (in the future). Are they setting up a Super Smash Bros. film?

I think a cool way for the final fight to end would be Mario using multiple mega mushrooms. And he just punts bowser’s castle as a reference to the older games.

I thought the same thing with Charles as an older Mario and Chris as the "new" Mario. Tho I didn't realize Cranky Kong's presence supported this idea.

I don't think Hollywood is nearly as creative as the ideas spoken of in this video, but we can certainly hope. Regardless of how the film turns out, I'm mostly hyped about Jack Black. He is one of my all time favorite celebs and I can see him absolutely crushing his role as Bowser. Definitely needs to be a musical number. And depending on the success of the film, I'd love to see it leading into more properties on the big screen.

The SMB references to the franchise is a really cool theory that you came up with i like the call back to Mario’s Plumbing Business I like the idea that Mario is a In-universe failed businessman and he makes a really bad commercial which is a reference to the Super Mario Brothers Super Show intro y’know “Do the Mario” and all that stuff and that's a really cool idea I want to see a scene in the movie where a lady talking on the phone In a grocery store at the checkout(the scanner where you scan your items and pay for them) and She's talking about needing a plumber to fix Her toilet And Mario's in line behind her With ingredients to make spaghetti from scratch(a reference to the character trait of his love for spaghetti) In his grocery cart and Overhears this And tries to promote his Plumbing Business and the lady gets weirded out and after scanning her items Runs away And throughout the movie and want there to be a running gag where mario and tries to promote himself and his Plumbing business but nobody cares Even Luigi's like: “I'm not doing “the Mario”! We don't wanna do “the Mario”! he keeps trying to make “the Mario” happen! When you mentioned they announced Chris Pratt to do the voice of Mario, my initial reaction was like, 'Oh thank goodness it's not the other guy. . . .from the carpool karaoke series. ..' Gotta say I'm liking your line of thinking, Andre :)

Post Credits Scene: Kirby appears to tell Mario of the Super Smash Bros incentive

I feel like the beginning of the movie might show flashbacks referencing Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Then it will cut to Mario's first true Adventure with him saving Pauline from Donkey Kong (Cranking Kong). Maybe Cranky Kong was on a rampage in this movie because his son Donkey Kong Jr. (The Main Donkey Kong) was being abused or hurt by someone. After that maybe Mario and Pauline send Cranky and Donkey Kong to an island where they weren't be bothered ever again (Donkey Kong Island). A few years later Kamek or a Toad might send Mario and Luigi to the Mushroom Kingdom where the events of the first Super Mario Bros. game will play into the movie.

9:21-10:34 Oh, I would bet you heavily that Universal is already having their cards ready once Mario releases, they're going to snatch up Nintendo and make big name frachises out of their IP, whether its animated or live-action. Like, Universal is currently sitting at the prospect of a potential goldmine if Mario strikes out successfully, as well as the other crown jewel which are the parks and Universal Studios Japan and the upcoming Epic Universe in Orlando. Like for Universal, its the merchandise but PRIMARILY, the parks at a must

What if, Charles Martinett voices mario, but kamek does something that gives voices to all characters and thats how the story unfolds.

I have a feeling that this movie is going to be one of those that we think at first is not going to work until we're surprised at how good it is.

The credits roll. A final scene begins. Deep inside a castle carved from obsidian, a cloaked figure with a tall hat rips open a panel to reveal a hidden storage space. We see from inside the space, looking out at Count Bleck's bemonacled face. Between us and him is a grey-and-black glove with buttons on it. Bleck grabs it and puts it on. The final line of the movie: "Fine, I'll do it myself."

I'd totally be down for them setting up a Nintendoverse and ending it with Super Smash Bros.

Maybe Charles Martinet will make a guest appearance as Wario or Waluigi or something. I feel like a Wario movie would be a raunchy comedy with a great soundtrack.

That post credit scene with Zelda sounds good. Because when we had the Super Mario Bros. Super Show cartoon, they played the Zelda cartoon on Friday’s.

I’m curious how this will affect the theme parks.

I think this is a very neat theory and honestly would be down for it. To me if they went the route of addressing Super Mario Bros as a legacy it would make the movie stand out from the video game series. Plus you have some lore to play around with. Maybe Mario Sr. would be like a guy who lived the old Mario adventures - Donkey Kong, Mario Bros - and Mario Jr. takes on the new adventures. Maybe his dad has been to the Mushroom Kingdom before and Mario Jr and Luigi encounter it for the first time.

I like your predictions Andre. I think I want to see your Super Mario movie now. Maybe after the Link and Donkey Kong solo films they could work up to an Avengers style team up Smash Bros movie...

I guarantee they will open the film with a dream sequence where badass mario is recreating the classic Donkey Kong. He wakes up to his boring construction job working for Spike, DK is his harmless neighbor who runs a banana stand, and he lives with his brother and dad voiced by Charles Martinet; his main character motivator is that he wants to be a "Super" adventurer with a life of rescuing princesses. After beginning a lucrative plumbing business in a new town in the Mushroom Kingdom, him and his brother take a job at the castle where they are the only people who can save the Princess after Bowser invades, Toad will join them throughout as comedic relief/voice of reason. In the end Mario learns Family is more important than adventure, Bowser only kidnapped Peach for a family of his own so he loops around to being a not-that-bad guy, and we get mid/post credit teases for DKC and a sequel with Yoshi

I'd get goosebumps if the post credit scene showed the Master Sword.
