Nintendo: we need a new fighter for the world circuit, but we have no ideas! Random guy on game design: Bear Hugger would look funny as a clown. Nintendo: perfect
@@external4997 its one of the few bad things of the 2D punch outs, the designers were really lazy and just recolor the fighters and remade or mod a bit their faces
The crowd is so confident that the champ is the best boxer, and then one day this random kid comes in and beats the crap out of everyone without getting even a single scratch or punch on him. Yep.
he retired cuz he was so pissed off being beaten up by a guy that was smaller than him. although he was acting like he was proud. NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN
I think the booklet for the first Punch Out said that Glass Joe's one win was a "freak occurrence" knockout of Nick Bruiser....but then in Super Punchout Bruiser is undefeated...
the whole thing is goofy, his record shows no losses but multiple canon sources say he lost that fight. The developers had a bit of a brain fart I think.
What happens is when bear hugger loses too the player and the player moves on bear hugger trains and looses some weight and fights you again in the world circut
Ref: buddy, you defeated each and every other boxer you fought untill now in less than 30 seconds, and now you're fighting and +60 year old with a stick. I think you'll manage.
one time .. long ago.. I managed to knock Nick Bruiser out in 38 seconds.. He stood up .. patted his head & went back down on his knee & was counted out. I was never able to do that again.
+Gaming History Source Dunno if you knew this or not, but that's actually normal if you get good luck on him, so good job! There's a few videos that showcase that.
+game84cube But super macho man still on world circuit, I think they said to everyone else from the nes game: " Get out of my way , its show time!" (References
YES!!!!!! Rick was definitely less predictable and just more annoying with the fact that you have to TKO Rick, but not Nick, and also the fact that he fakes you out when he does his "dizzy" sequence. Rick should've been the champ.
Why does Narcis Prince's hair look like a bunch of Bananas? Is that why he didn't appear in Punch Out Wii? Did DK eat his hair thinking it was Bananas? THIS NEEDS ANSWERING!
I love how the first fight (whose name I don't know) is a frail (i think) old man, and he stumbles over, but Bear Hugger goes absolutely FLYING. I think Mac decided to be gentle on the old guy.
mlbauder2 I wince every time a foe just SLAMS into a corner, like he wasn't worse off already from the fight? Well heres a few more bruises to go with those cracked (Potentially Broken) jaws and ribs.
Funny thing though, gabby jay is not that old. hoy quarlow is older than gabby jay, yet while gabby jay just stumbles over, hoy quarlow goes FLYING! Mac 💻 didn’t choose to go easy on that old guy.
Yeah, Nick is actually not too hard if you keep cool, react well enough and look out for his one-hit-KO attacks. What makes Prince harder to KO is that he has almost perfect defense over his face and can't be combo-ed easily but once you hit his pretty mug, he'll be as open as Gabby Jay.
Agreed,... I remember doing the (Rapid) S Punch having Nick Bruiser dash back against ropes for his One-Hit KO and caught him for the KO all in fast succession.... Had the replay saved on the NESticle emulator for the longest time..... Something similar for Mad Clown aswell!!!
If anything, Nick's fairness and maybe pride in his boxing style is his downfall. Other boxers use grabs, spit in your eyes, kick box, use magic and even weapons. Nick may be the strongest legal boxer but he doesn't know when to go full power. Some of the other boxers, although cheaters, do have a sense of urgency and unpredictability that pushes them to give their all in the last matches like Mad Clown's Showtime or Bald Bull's Bull Rush waves. If Nick had his own "Rage" mode, he may have been a competent boss but if you don't panic and keep stoic like him you can beat him. Hell, the player might even have more ferocity than Nick. All in all, Rick is right. He is the real champ because he is more tricky and ferocious than his brother.

Aran Ryan looks really gross and deformed... Also, I like how they used almost the same sprite for Bad Clown and Bear Hugger. Not that I blame them, considering this was back in the SNES days and they didn't have nearly the storage and graphics we do now. And I can't be the only one thinking Dragon Chan and Narcis Prince are weirdly attractive for 16-bit characters, right? I mean, Samus certainly was...
Gotta love how when super macho man entera the ring the crowd is awfully more quiet than usual and the announcer sounds tired like with everyone he is like "GABBY JAY!, MR SANDMAN ARAN RYAN!" But in that fight he is like "god dammit this guy whatever super macho man"
Gabby jay is younger then hoy quarlow. Gabby jay is 56, and hoy quarlow is 78. Gabby jay may not count as elder 🧓 abuse, but hoy quarlow definitely would count as elder 🧓 abuse.
It's so amazing to me that someone can become so good at a game that the fights last from the shortest of 9 seconds to the longest of just under 30 seconds? (With an average of them ending at about 15 seconds and 17 seconds)
Of all the opponents that I got stuck on when playing this (pretty much every fighter from World Circuit onward), Hoy Quarlow took the longest to get past.
Bear Hugger, Bald Bull and Sandmsn really improved themselves through the years... I didn't imagine the first two were part of the minor circuit someday... I kinda missed some of Punch Out Wii guys here...
