I fell in love with this artwork of some evil looking jack-o-lanterns and had to make them using my scroll saw. These have just the right about of creepy factor! This is something that can be made pretty quickly and doesn’t take a lot of materials.
I used multiple species of wood to get the colors I want. The pumpkins are made from Argentinian orange wood. The stem is lignum vitae. The center pumpkin’s hat is wenge with a purple heart band and maple buckle. The background is walnut and the negative space is wenge. It took multiple types of woods to make this project but the same effect can be accomplished using paint or stain.
The artwork for this came from Drawkman: stock.adobe.com/contributor/2...

Do you think you could do a video of unusual or different woodworking Christmas presents of differing difficulty levels? I mean out of the ordinary so no cutting boards, ect. Great video as usual!

@@NewtonMakesArt think that would be amazing can I recommend a brand of danish oil for you or at least I've tried a few and it's been my go to one it's colron danish oil in natural the other ones seem to leave a sticky residue or tacky marks this one's wipe on buff off after half hour job done. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

2 things: Regarding showing frame making in these videos: Since I watch all your videos, not sure necessary, but I think it is interesting and maybe periodically add that in on these art projects. Second thing is I would like you to mention "links" to your different processes such as putting tape down on the boards before placing the art work down and things like that. You know, basic scroll saw process. LOVE LOVE your videos so keep them coming.

I let it dry and the glue peels right off

How much thicker did you leave the Wenge used for the witch hat if the orange pieces were only about 1/8” thick?
@NewtonMakesArt
@NewtonMakesArt Год назад
The orange was about 3/16 thick. The wenge was about 1/4.

Did you use teak oil instead of Osmo or spray lacquer because you thought it would make the Argentinian Orange Wood and Wenge stand out more, or were you just looking to mix it up a little?

Trying something new. Never know what might end up working amazing. But it does make the orange pop.

@@NewtonMakesArt It sure does and the Wenge seems like much more of a solid black than I’ve seen with the hard wax oils or poly.
