Here is my first ride of the Super Soco TC MAX 125cc equivalent CBT legal motorcycle.
I have this bike on loan from Super Soco for 2 weeks to use and test before I make a full review at the end. You may note I have not given a torque figure on this bike, the reason for this is SuperSoco only give a "motor torque" of 180Nm, clearly this is not what you see at the wheels.

I’ve owned my TC Max for over a year now and commuted almost every day. I’m a big fan. I use the power settings like gears, keep it in 1 when In 30 zones or traffic, 2 for 40 zones then 3 for every thing else.
@simontritton4131
@simontritton4131 3 года назад
So can you change settings on the go ...like gears ? And as time goes by do you think speed or distance will become a problem with recharge.. and any ideas on new battery costs. Look really aggressive for an electric might look good with cut off alloy mudguards and off road tyres like the herald brat 125 ?
@brighty79
@brighty79 3 года назад
@@simontritton4131 yes you can but think of it as more of a speed limiter than gears... you won’t get up to speed quicker in 1 than 3. Haven’t looked at a battery recently, from memory one got offer to me for about £700 as an extra when I bought the bike. You can find some good modded examples out there. Speaking to a few on forums, where they have put bigger tyres on or off road tyres they see a drop in top end and range.

I do wonder that with electric bikes that as the battery gets older the range or distance will be reduced so having to charge more often.
@spicy110
@spicy110 3 года назад
There are regulation in place that mean the battery has to be up to a set standard for 3 years or the company must replace it. I don't know super soco's claims but zero say 200k miles and it will still have 80% of it's starting capacity. So really it's not that big of an issue if you look at most petrol bikes not going past 100k miles (sure many do and I bet most are just damaged rather than broken but you know what i mean) it's still early days anyway so in the future all these battery worries will be a thing of the past.
@chrisdavidson911
@chrisdavidson911 3 года назад
people were saying that when electric cars first kicked off, and they were absolutely fine, capacity didn't deplete anywhere near as much or as quickly as anyone thought it might. As with everything though - engines included - given enough abuse it will have problems sooner, and this mostly comes down to temperature management; if you keep getting it too hot you'll annoy it and the capacity will drop, if it's really cold and you ask too much of it before it's warmed up a bit, it can get all angry and try to set you on fire. Lithium batteries are what they are, it's removable so you can keep&charge it in the house/office, it'll have thermal management throttling while you're riding, it'll be fine. Nissan Leaf is having long-term reliability trouble in Australia due to inadequate cooling, that's the only problem i've heard of other than randomness of individual vehicle's reliability.

the problem with not having a lot of mileage means your going to need to charge almost everytime you use it just to make sure it is fully charged in case you actually need to go somewhere that needs the long range it has. So constantly charging compared to topping up when you need. Unless you are using it almost always for short rides then electric bikes still suffering from range anxiety just as Electric cars used to.
@spicy110
@spicy110 2 года назад
The thing is you buy the bike that suits you, this works for many people in cities and also older people who want a low-maintenance bike on hand to go to the shops, etc. Charging overnight is no bother and means it's always topped up. If you need a bike with more rage get one with more range but in the electrics with that range tend to be quite experienced it is true, and in these cases, petrol often wins atm. I have ridden many electric bikes are never really experienced range anxiety other than going to a charger and finding it's not working or it's too slow and then needing to get to another on what you have left.

@@jackladd4332 To be fair, you can definitely tell the difference in manufacturing quality between the Japanese and Chinese bikes (albeit this is on switchgear like the indicator button and the frame, tyres and engine components). That being said, I have to agree and say I don't know where the 2 grand difference comes from. Especially when you look at say a ybr125 and the yzf125. You're paying an extra grand over the ybr for some fairing on the yzf. I've owned a benelli tnt and serviced it myself for a year with oil and filter, I did 9k without a 'proper' workshop service and it never broke down. I test Rode the earlier version of this super soco too and I stood on the pegs to adjust my gentleman's tackle and I heard a crack from the foot peg like they were made out of the cheapest material. I also nearly lost the front at the first roundabout I came to because of these cheap Chinese tyres and ive never felt so unsafe on such an underpowered machine. I had to ride in the gutter because it couldn't accelerate up the slightest of gradients. This was on a 40mph road.

Approximately twenty extra power stations would be needed to charge the tens of millions of vehicles on UK roads. Such a vast amount of extra electricity can't be supplied by unreliable non-generated sources like wind.
