It's a good lens but I prefer its smaller brother Zuiko 200mm f5. That lens is much smaller, not much slower and the image quality is the same. That's one of the most compact 200mm lenses that I know of.
@VintageOptiks
@VintageOptiks 2 года назад
Yeah it’s another great Zuiko lens! I personally love the 200mm f4 because I prefer shallower depth of field. But if the size of the lens is more important to you then the 200mm f5 is definitely one of the smallest 200mm lenses out there.

Very good lens, but I prefer the magic you showed using the Minolta Auto Tele Rokkor-QF 200mm f3.5, probably less resolution than the Olympus but I loved the colors and the vintage character of the Minolta. The MD 200 f4 Minolta is also a very good lens but like the Olympus it produces much more modern images probably due to the multi coating and a slightly different formula than the Rokkor f3.5.

Lovely video. Darn you've made me want to take out my copy out for a walk. It's just been collecting dust. I'm keeping an eye out for its f/5 sibling as that one is even smaller. It's a lot heavier and about 3-5 times the cost but if you ever find one for not too much, I think the Zuiko 180 2.8 is a pretty rad lens too

Thanks for great tip!!. ... would you compare this one to Nikkor ED 180mm f2.8 reviewed previously? Which one would you recommend more?
@VintageOptiks
@VintageOptiks 3 года назад
You are welcome. Well, the ED Nikkor 180mm f2.8 is a faster lens which has an extra low dispersion element, so it will not be a fare comparison. The Nikkor is much heavier and costs a lot more too. But if the price and the weight are not a problem for you and you only want one lens in this focal length, then go with the Nikkor.

@VintageOptiks Год назад
Haha, it's tough keeping that GAS down. :) The advantages of the Olympus prime is that it's small and compact and lightweight compared to your zoom. It's handy if you want to take it on a trip or a hike. But if you don't need a smaller and lighter 200mm lens, your 80-200mm zoom will serve you well. Cheers!
