I just realized the flight deck overhangs the hanger deck by the width of the elevators! No wonder the HD looks so small! Leave it to the Grim Reapers to try to fly through what _looks_ like a solid hanger door! Very naughty!

If i see it correctly, you have two hangar doors right across from each other. Funday Sunday challenge: take off from carrier at same time, turn, go thru the hangar and the first one to land wins. Only if possible ofcourse 😅🤣

Visually it does seem a little smaller than reality. I served on the USS Carl Vinson from 84-87, and it doesn't look correct. They added barrels and blocks to fill the edges, but you wouldn't have that in reality. They didn't add the hatches leading out of the hanger bay nor does the forward part of the bay look correct. But it's a game, so it's better than nothing. However, you go 107 days straight in the Indian Ocean off Gonzo station without touching land, and the Carrier shrinks...oh and on a NO Fly Day, it's a steel beach!

flying the harrier out the hanger at the end reminded me of something I saw a while ago while on google maps. North Korea has what google maps say is an underground runway, idk if they actually use the tunnel to speed up and rotate at the exit or just use it as storage but here is the link for anyone that is interested: goo.gl/maps/aLnBYoomLpUaFwun6

I think the Harrier has more latency due to the hydraulic line controls to the nozzles...However, if electro actuator and todays digital controls/autopiliot will improve performance. I think this would also benefit with active flow control research with Darpa X65 demos... However, using harrier to shoot down drones as configure is still a big economic advantage for the Navy.

The ocelation is normal in the harrier. That is why the real ones always just drop onto the deck.

Well the real one has an AFC that stabilizes the hover and still allows for stick input to a certain degree for fine control. You'd have to turn the thing into the wind though (which the carriers do already) as it can't correct for that. I just wish we'd get that in DCS...

The hangar is always smaller than the entire length of the carrier. There are engine shops on hangar level that are at of the hangar, and shops and crew quarters forward of the hangar. The main hangar is usually divided in two by a pair of main doors amidships. On the Ranger, there was a weight room at the aft end and upper part of the hangar, made to be a cage.

Yes, I think caps wasn't thinking clearly. There needs to be room for several thousand personnel (that is a huge volume of bodies right there. And then the other areas to make it all work. Catering, laundry, fitness etc.

I discovered you can clip the camera through the bow of the Kuznetsov and see a modelled hanger inside. I wonder if you could do something similar to explore it?

I've seen the interior of the Arleigh Burke as well. I placed my Huey on it just as it's done in this video, but I had the ships run at 30kts. With that, you'd slowly slide forward until you kinda glitch in there...

The UH1H rotor is 53 ft dia. looks like you could get at least 8 to ten in there end to end that would make the hanger at lease 500 ft.

I'm stuck on a ka-50 campaign. How can I deal with SAM SA (osa)? Is it possible to avoid being hit by osa missle? I slowed down time to see what is happening, started dropping flares but I could see the missle went straight through flares cluster and hit my chopper. Any suggestions?

@@thert.hon.thelordnicholson7261 Yes that actually works. Try hovering at high altitude. You get more range out of the things if you're at 2-3km. Just don't be a sitting duck for some fighters... back in the days of BS1 I think I shot things at up to almost 12km. They've got a range of 10km. Another tactic would be to hover behind some ridge, pop up like an AH-64 and when you see him firing, get down again - then repeat until he's out of missiles (they've got 6 and will reload those 30 minutes after the last shot if there's an "LD" unit nearby). I even did that with some SA-6 once. Sure was some thrill, but I even managed to shoot that radar before they'd hit me.
