A weekly show highlighting my love of comics. The books themselves! I don't feel like there are enough places to celebrate Comic Books on a weekly basis. So I want to do just that, right here!
This week we're talking about SO much breaking DC News! We’ve got Green Lantern TV show confirmation (and its landing on HBO?) We have a Batman the Caped Crusader trailer! Tons of Superman set images… exist!
Over on the Marvel side we have some quotes from Kevin Feige discussing - Deadpool and Wolverine (he and Hugh Jackman go back further then you might think, and he gives Ryan Reynolds a lot of credit with ol Wade) Fantastic Four confirmations and a tiny Wonder Man update too!
We also got news that Ultimate Spider-Man is getting its first trade paperback in September!

My 15-year-old daughter is really into Batman stuff. She's been playing the Arkham series of games lately and watching random episodes of the original animated series. We're both looking forward to the new show coming out in August. She also had me preorder her the latest Garcia/Picolo Titans graphic novel, Starfire, since the Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go cartoons were how she got into DC. If I had to pick one non-comic book thing I own that is based on comics, I'd have to go way back to the 1980s Marvel Universe role-playing game, which got me into comics even more by helping me create characters and stories for myself.

I must also say i literally got into the MCU a mere 3 years ago from Wandavision and from there i really got into the deep cuts and comics of marvel because of you so thank you so much Coy! Camera looks great Coy. Love seeing the slow upgrade. I’m def a trade reader as it’s easier to go to local comic shop once to pickup a trade than going multiple times and remembeering when specific titles come out, plus trades look better on a shelf and are easier to sift through and grab than going through boxes of single issues.

Was hesitant getting the new Ultimate Spider-Man as I missed picking it up when it came out but the consistent praising this series may change my mind seeing if I can find prior issues. Want to be optimistic of Superman but I can’t deny it’s a disappointment how the suit fits Corenswet but will wait for when we see a trailer. Definitely understand why not showing the leak sets and makes sense. Now a days so hard to avoid these types of leaks. Interested in seeing MCU take on FF and how they are folded in MCU proper. Still going through X-Men 97 withdrawals haha. Not too much longer until we get Deadpool!! Can’t wait! May pick up the Avengers when Storm joins the group hopefully as their new leader. Still prefer her leading an X-Men team but glad she’s getting more of a spot light in that book but also in a solo series. As much a live Halle Berry I just didn’t buy her as Storm. They nailed it in X-men original animated and definitely X-Men 97. Hope they cast her right in the MCU and give Scott/Cyclops his justice as a leader. Agree no powers for MJ! Again major congrats on your engagement Coy❤️

Lots of great books and news! My current favorite comic book related item in my apartment is my poster of the wraparound cover of The Mighty Thor #1. I love Marvel and I love mythology, so when I saw the Norse pantheon rendered Marvel style with the gorgeous art from Russell Dauterman and Matt Wilson, I had to have it.

I don't own a lot of comic book memorabilia, but I've always prized my Deadpool bust coin bank. I've had it for a decade. I got it back in college when I got into Deadpool because of Hulk vs Wolverine, Ultimate Alliance and the Deadpool game. You're the best Coy. I agree USM has been one of my favorites each week it comes out, and I would love to see you cover Batman: Caped Crusdaer, I spotted one of my favorite Villians, Onomatopoeia, in the trailer and it got me so excited for the show. And My Favoirte comic book thing I have is probably a Daredevil Helmet I have signed By Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, and David Tennant, that Daredevil show and the whole Defenders Saga are some of the shows that really ignited my love for all things comics, and its so awesome to have met all those guys and have a helmet signed by them.

Haven’t picked up my stack at the LCS, but I'm excited to this week. Nightwing has been good. Really loving Geoff Johns Ghost Machine books too! Also, David Corenswet's Clark Kent disguise is fantastic! You would never think this version of Clark Kent is Superman if you saw him in public! Great job! Cannot wait for this Superman movie! Also, SOOO excited for Lanterns! Currently re-reading the Geoff Johns run again! So good! Caped Crusder looks FANTASTIC! Definitely talk about Ultimate Spider-Man!

Loved USM issue 6. Can’t wait for the next arc. Marco is becoming one of THE best Spidey artists and if Hickman keeps this up for a lot of people this will be his legacy and this is the same guy who wrote Secret Wars. What a talent. New camera looks spectacular! It’s your Chanel so I’m excited to listen to whatever you choose to talk about. So excited for some Green Lantern! I also checked out Batman/Superman: world’s finest and Destro. Never been a big fan of GI Joe/Transformers but this new Energon Universe they’re creating has been really interesting and fun so far. I was also shocked by Hellverine! Homework: I do love my Marvel Legend Figures but my favorite memorabilia is my artist prints/sketch covers. That’s the one thing I love about Cons is going into Artist Alley to talk to the artists and showing them some support.

Been reading blood hunt stuff. midnight Sons is a lot of fun. Magik was just kinda ok, which was too bad cuz I was looking forward to that one. Union Jack is pretty interesting. But right now that I’ve finally caught up on both issues is Venom Separation Anxiety. That is so good. Right now it’s my favorite Venom book. Looking forward to Venom Wars starting next month and I wonder if they’re gonna tie that in, I hope not, but I guess we will see. And then for indies I’m reading Geiger, soooooo good. Only read issue one but picked up issue 2 and ordered 3. Also found this western comic from Image (I think) I can’t think of the name but it’s interesting. About an ex bank robber that goes on a mission to kill (redacted for spoilers) so she can continue living with her family. Second issue sold me on the supernatural aspects of it. Looking forward to reading more of it.

Loving the new setup! Favorite comic book Memorabilia? Wait idk if past issues count cause IF SO, i found Nightwing's first ever appearance in Tales of The Teen Titans/The Judas Contract Part 3 at Fan Expo Boston last year signed by Marv Wolfman :O (I learned recently that DC has been doing Facsimile issues of throwback stories and they're doing one of that exact issue so yay for actually having a reading copy!!) If old comic books don't count then I think it's a tie between 2 Nightwing statues I own. One is very much inspired by his BTNAS look and another was part of a line of statues/figures back in the early 2000's I think? Can you tell Nightwing's my favorite superhero? XD

The video looks really nice, I must say that the Green Lantern show is sounding like it's going to be really good, I hope it is. Of my collection it would probably be a tie, I have a blue X-Men shirt with Magneto, Cyclops and Emma Frost that's really cool, a batmovile collection I really like, and a couple months ago I got the Wolverine minifigure and got super excited for it. 🌪️ oh I didn’t want to say, though I like the look of Clark versus the look of Superman because it does bring me back to how I felt when I watched the original Superman in the theater and how wonderful it felt to see such a completely different style. Superman is as compared to his in this case alter ego Clark Kent. I think they’re gonna do a really good job of it.

@Coy I'm pretty sure the lanterns show is going to be the exact same as House of the dragon is right now. It has that HBO label and will be on the Cable subscription And will also drop at the same time on max. They're just slapping that prestige HBO label on it. The big difference is that it won't just be a Max show as it is an HBO original

Thank you Coy for agreeing with me on the Superman leaks :D Paparazzi's should be sued or something has to be done about it, 'cause it ruins the surprise but also all their hard work. I really hope that capes & cowls don't bring it up or at least don't show any of the pictures. Would definitely love to hear your thoughts on the Batman Caped Crusader series, I absolutely loved the trailer too and I didn't know it had a lot of the same creator's from BTAS that got me even more excited to watch it! Also I'm really interested in reading this Nightwing run I just need to know exactly where to start since I'm new to reading comics and got confused whenever I tried to figure it out haha

I completely agree on the paparazzi thing. Especially in 2024 when we have access to internet and if someone wanted to share with us where they are or where they went, they’d do it. It made sense in the 90’s bc they needed “gossip” to talk abt. (Still wasn’t right). Also love these comic videos so much! I always have hard times finding people to talk about comics with so this helps me find new books 📚 ❤

🌪️coy. I just wanna say as a viewer of your content and a lot of places you show up at that. I appreciate your choice not to show it myself personally have your ability to if I see these photos to disassociate them when I actually go see the movie, but I’ve trained myself to do that decades long. Movie watching. Besides that, I love the fact that you do not want to take away from the magic of seeing what the finish product is supposed to look like. We all get it. It’s a guy in a suit and although it looks nice unless it’s a promotional photo like you have said before, just watching these guys hanging out does take away the magic of it. I have actually seen the photos but by the time the actual movie comes out I won’t care anymore

Definitely review and react to Batman Caped Crusader! ill be watching it. I just read 12 different batman graphic novels and just picked up the 3 Knightfall volumes. I even bought the original 4 sword of Azrael comics to introduce them, also Batman venom. I know knightfall wont connect to Caped crusader but thats just what im reading right now. love the channel Coy, keep up the good work!

To help you explain the HBO stuff. HBO l never went away, the streaming service is just called Max for some reason. And how it works is basically anything that airs on HBO will also just air on Max at the same time. The only real big difference is that with it going to HBO it now has a bigger budget.

My theory for the future of USM. We are going deep here, I think Harry and Peter’s main conflict will be based around this question. What does with great power, comes great responsibility mean? For Peter it could mean being kind and helping EVERYONE, even villains. For Harry it’s taking out the wrong people because these people took his father away, these people are ruining the world. This is a GREAT conflict. Honestly. If you want to make this deeper. If this comes say by issue 18 or something. That could be a good time to kill Uncle Ben. But, not in the usual way. Have Peter stop the criminal (or Shocker, I like Shocker a lot) and nkt kill him, just web him up, leave to carry on with being a hero, Shocker escapes. Carries on as well, finds Ben, kills him and takes money. In 616 Ben dies because Peter was selfish and didn’t stop the criminal, in 6160 Ben died because Peter did stop the criminal but didn’t finish him for good. This makes the conflict so much deeper. If Peter loved by Harry’s way Ben wouldn’t be dead BUT because Peter is our hero, he knows he still needs to live by Ben’s way, the right way even if it comes with consequences. Ben would rather die knowing Peter did the right then live to see Peter become the juxtaposition of the man he once was. What do you think of my theory

Video and audio look great! As far as my background for videos I do the only non comic things I have is a Bobblehead Jesus in front of a glowing blue Teseract (like Loki's) and a Doctor Who Tardis :) All the rest is ALL MARVEL! Hey man. It would be awesome to send in superchats with what people have been reading. I’ve been going back through dc as I’ve only just gotten into comics over the last few years. Just read the Jeph loeb supergirl run from 2005. Pretty great. Also loved her new 52 run but I hear many didn’t.

And like the lions share of new 52 supergirls was hit or miss for me depending on arc! But overall think of that era fondly Glad you dig it!
