Wow I didn't realize the standalone release sold out so quickly. I can't say that I'm surprised because it's my favorite Superman movie and there is definitely a fan base for it out there
I've got a bluray steelbook of the first Superman and I would love to see the first two movies in 4k. Can't really remember much about the movies except for the first one as it was the first film my dad recorded on VHS for us kids to watch. A great looking set and thanks for sharing Keith.
Hey Sebastian. You are definitely due a revisit my friend particularly if you can get your hands on the 4K releases of all of these movies. They look absolutely fantastic and I'm hoping to put out my first review for the second movie sometime this week. Thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate it
Very nice Keith, I was always thinking the box was more blue than it is for some reason from pictures pre release. Rare to see a double sided steelbook like part 2 and i like that tbh. All the steelbooks look good and nice that you were able to get it cheaper which was lucky.
Hey Steve. I'm always saying it but pictures never tell the story it's only when you get it in your hands you realize how different it actually is. The biggest selling point to me when it comes to this edition is to get the original artwork on Steelbook form and I have to tell you they look phenomenal. Hopefully the 4K transfers will be equally as beautiful. Thank you so much for stopping by my friend
Great looking boxset Keith. I love the first 3 of these movies. Every kid wanted to fly after seeing these back in the day. For me Christopher Reeve was Superman. The art work on the third one looks like the front of a comic, great stuff.
I have to tell you Gary I am in love with this edition. Pictures don't always tell the story and it's only when you get it in your hands you realize how beautiful it actually is. The Steelbooks in particular to get all That original artwork was a huge deal to me and it's probably why I wanted to get this edition. Thanks again for stopping by my good friend. I hope you're doing well
The cover of the extras SteelBook is actually a reproduction of the first Supes appearance from 1938. The 1978 on the collectible comic is the year the movie came out so is probably a comic version of the movies
Somebody in the comment section said the 1978 comic book is apparently a continuation of the movie itself. I need to read it myself and see. Thank you so much for the heads up on the extras Steelbook. Again I knew it had some sort of significance but I wasn't sure what it was. It's good to know
Hey Paul. Again it's one of those Editions where the pictures just don't do it Justice. The Steelbooks look phenomenal and great to finally get the original artwork for these movies. I never had them since back in the VHS days. Thank you for stopping by my friend
I'm not going to lie it's definitely one of the best Steelbook box sets that I've seen from Warner brothers and I think you will love it Kyle. Thank you so much for stopping by my friend
Love this set, I’m not a steelbook person but the art on these is fantastic and so far I only watched Superman 3 and was happy with what I saw. Great video mate ❤
I have to admit the Steelbooks are the selling point when it comes to this release. To get all the original artwork on Steelbook form I thought was Genius from Warner Brothers and fingers crossed the movies look just as good on 4k. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out my friend. I really appreciate it
@@millerman9991 I will say I’m not getting rid of my blue anthology Blu-ray set, the extras and inclusion of Superman Returns is too much to just forget and I also own the double disc tv version and special edition on Blu-ray which I got for the 3 hour tv cut of the first film. Always stopping by I just lurk lol but this one I had to comment on 💚
I am the exact same as yourself I have no intention of getting rid of the Blu-ray edition. To be honest even if it didn't have Superman Returns I still wouldn't have gotten rid of it because I'm one of them people that's simply doesn't get rid of anything in my collection. Thank you so much for leaving a comment on this video and honestly I would love to hear more from you in the future.
A damn, nice looking steelbook set. I got the blu ray set that included the Superman: The Movie - Expanded Edition (2001) which I love (188-minute re-edit). It was when ABC used to do the made for TV editions like Dune (40 extra minutes) Waterworld (40 minutes) and Star Trek the Motion Picture (like 8 extra minutes and was re-released on 4K with the recent Directors Edition Box). Thanks for another great unboxing dude.
Hey Chris. It's amazing because I actually have the bluray set myself but I never realized that the original movie had an expanded edition. I really need to look into that because I know for an absolute fact I haven't seen it. It's a bit of a shame I didn't get it with this new edition and I'm sure a few people will be disappointed. As always thank you so much for stopping by my friend. I really appreciate it
@@millerman9991 Nah, the new set looks very cool and in 4K I assume. It was just an FYI regarding the extended edition which you should check out because I thought it was well done the last time I watched it- whenever that was. lol
I need to check this out but somebody told me that the Blu-ray that you get with the 4K release actually has the extended version on it. I'm not sure how true that is but I'm going to check it out and see
Great video Keith ,that is a wonderful set of The Superman films , the attention to detail on the covers of the steel books is class. It has that cool retro film posters look to them 👍
That's exactly what I wanted from this edition Mike. To get all That original artwork on Steelbook form was so important and I am happy incredibly happy that I picked it up. Thank you so much for checking it out my friend
Yeah I have to admit I am ecstatic about this edition and I'm so happy I got it in the end. As always thank you for stopping by David. I really appreciate it
I had already purchased “SuperMan the movie” first release in 4K and to this day that is one of my favorite discs. I was on the fence about this set, but after seeing the complete numbered package of what you got, I can see that this set was a Complete tribute to Chris Reeves. I’m curious on the picture quality compared to the first release…but I can tell you, that disc brings me back to 1978 when I first saw it In the theater. The sound is amazing especially when that John Williams music starts up and that massive title sequence fills your surround set up. Always puts a smile on my face. I hope the price goes down, I really do. Your right, 13,000 copies is a lot, so I guess we’ll see. Fantastic review Kieth. As always.
I was a huge fan of the first movie on 4K myself. I picked it up day one and even though a lot of people weren't happy with how it looked particularly the first 25 minutes I myself had no issues with it and I completely understand why it took you back to 78. To be honest I'm kind of hoping they didn't tamper with the 4K transfer on this new release. I will know very soon. I do remember the John Williams score belting out through every single one of my speakers. What an experience that was and hopefully the other three movies will sound equally as good. I really do hope the price drops down because every fan of this franchise deserve to have this edition in their collection. As always thank you so much for stopping by and for sharing your thoughts on it. I really appreciate all your support my friend
The transfer on the first film is exactly the same as the first release. Warner decided not to re encode the disc using the newly remastered version re done by the team that did 2/3/4.
Hey Kevin. I really hope my video did it Justice because the Steelbooks in particular are absolutely exquisite. I think you're going to love it when you get it in your hands. Thank you so much for stopping by
Epic man ! Mine is on the way ! Looks ace ! Happy memories watching the late great Christopher Reeve ! The only Superman IM0. I held off and got the second 4K set of Halloween movies including H20 ! Managed to get it for $80 ! 👍👏🙏
Hey Conor. Trust me when I say you are going to be ecstatic when you get this in your hands. The Steelbooks look phenomenal and great to get that original artwork on all of them. Well done on getting the Halloween movies. I'm actually a big fan of H20 and it looks great on 4k. Thank you so much for stopping by my friend
Hey Keith. I've not long finished watching The Donner Cut...Like you my favourite Superman Movie an way to many things I love about it to start mentioning. Quick thoughts on the print are its at times a softer 4k picture but with many many Wow moments. Overall very impressed and pleased...The Black levels are incredible especially when it comes to the three villains outfits..the sound is also superb. The box sets a little to pricey for me(well done on the discount) an I adore the first two movies and am really chuffed to finally get the sequel on 4k. This film has so much bloody charm an Gene Hackman an Christopher Reeve are just incredible in it. Cracking review an what a lovely boxset...love that first Steelbook. Take care mate👍
Thank you so much for letting me know about Superman 2 Gary. Believe it or not but I have never seen the Richard donner cut and this is going to be my first time this weekend. From the sounds of things I'm in for a treat in terms of the 4K picture and to be honest I was expecting to see some soft moments so no surprise there. I'm hoping the Atmos sounds just as active as the first movie and I'm sure that will be the case as well. I'm actually looking forward to reviewing all of these movies and to finally get the original artwork on Steelbook form is what really Drew me to this edition. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by my friend. I really appreciate it
Hey Mark. It's such a wonderful Edition and great to get the original artwork on them Steelbooks. I haven't owned them since the VHS days. Thank you for checking it out my friend
Supposed to get mine next month if all works out, so thanks for the early peek. Looks fantastic. I know alot of people won't agree with me, but part 3 is my favorite. I can remember seeing it at the indoor cinema in a bigger town about an hour away which was a big deal for us as we usually went to a local drive in for most movies.
To be honest Cody I don't remember the movie that well. I do remember enjoying it and I cannot wait to see it on 4k. Believe it or not but Part 4 was the first movie I ever went to see in the cinema and it's a wonder I ever went back to the cinema after seeing that heap of crap. I actually haven't seen it since that time and I am going to force myself to watch it this weekend because I do want to review the 4K picture. Wait till you hear the original Superman in Dolby Atmos. The John Williams scored sound so grandiose. You'll be blown away by it
superb unboxing of a truly magnificent set ..1 is my go to fav followed by the donner cut of 2 just makes for a complete perfect movie...is the first movie the directors cut ..extended version or normal...and i imagine is rammed full of ftres ...cant wait for your review on the pic quality etc ,another superb video mate ..you ARE the go to reviewer !!
Wow what an incredibly kind comment to read. I never said this in the video and I think you are going to be shocked when I say this but I actually have never seen the donner cut. Every time I watch part 2 and it is my favorite Superman movie I always watched the theatrical edition because I'm afraid I might spoil the movie for myself by watching the donner cut. But it's going to change this weekend and I'm finally going to watch it. I don't remember seeing anything about a director's cut for the first movie but I will check it out and let you know. Thank you so much for stopping by my friend and I look forward to reviewing the 4K picture
I have to admit Roy I really love this edition. I think it's the best Steelbook box set that Warner Brothers had brought out so far and that saying something. Thank you for checking it out my friend
Thank you so much for stopping by and of course for the sub. I am going to try and watch all of them this weekend and hopefully I will have the reviews out next week. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again
Oh by the way Nathan I was able to get two beautiful looking Steelbooks for that gladiator edition you sent me and I'm hoping to do a proper unboxing for it in the next couple of weeks. A huge thanks again my friend
Hi Keith, I wasn't going to buy this originally because it was quite pricey but I had a change of heart and decided to treat myself... opened it up today and I'm so glad I did because it's a stunning set and the first 3 films are very nostalgic to me!! Also, I love the Action Comics steelbook of goodies!! 👍
That is so great to hear Steven. Pictures can only say so much and it's only when you get it in your hands when you realize how beautiful this edition is. I have to tell you I am so ecstatic to get All That original artwork on Steelbook form. It's what really drew me to the set. I actually thought the fifth Steelbook was bonus discs and when I opened it I was so surprised to see collectibles inside. That's definitely a first for me. Thank you so much for stopping by my friend and congrats on picking one up. We need to treat ourselves every once in a while
Hi Keith - Superman '78 is actually a recent run that's in the style of the Donner movies and is meant to continue on from Superman II. There's a similar run called Batman '89 which is supposed to emulate what a third Burton movie would have been like with Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face and Marlon Wayans as Robin. I prefer Superman '78 out of the two. It really captures the visual style and dialogue of Donner's movies and you can imagine it having actually been made. Anyway, I have that comic so it's the steelbooks (not a massive steelbook collector), 3 and 4 and a picture booklet. I'm gonna pass on this one. 1 and 2 in 4K with my previous blus for the rest will do me.
Hey Jonny. Thank you so much for the heads up on Superman 78. I knew it had some sort of significance I wasn't sure what it was though. When it comes to myself and what's my favorite I do be back in forward between the first two. I think they complement each other so very well. When it comes to this edition the biggest selling point for me was the actual Steelbooks and getting the original artwork. The last time I owned them was on VHS so it's been a long time. Hopefully the 4K transfers will be as equally beautiful. Looking forward to checking them out this weekend. Thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate it
That comic is from a 6 issue series release last year, telling the supposed story Richard Donner wanted to tell in the Superman 3 before he left, etc. It’s a great series. Voices of the characters are perfect. If you like the films, especially Donners 1 & 2 read the comic straight after. It’s great stuff.
Wow thank you so much for the heads up on that. I knew there was a significance to it I just didn't know what it was. Going to check it out now and see. Thank you so much for letting me know about that
You are absolutely correct it is quite odd and I never seen it before but I kind of like it. Anything different is always good in my eyes. Thank you so much for stopping by
I picked this set up myself, had a 20% discount code on HMV, and got it for £104. 45% is more insane, only cost you about £71! Watched the first film for first time last week, good watch. Looking forward to the second. Great unboxing Keith.
Hey Aaron. It's a beautiful looking Edition but I honestly don't think it's worth 150 Euro. Thank God I had the discount code because if I didn't chances are I wouldn't have it now. Great to hear that you were able to get 20% off yourself. I hope you enjoy the rest of the movies
I also received this box set and it s great there is nothing wrong with the picture and audio just like the rocky 4k steelbooks there was also nothing wrong with the audio it was just good.i watch it on a 77 c2 oled and reavon 4k player and complete 7.2 thx soundsystem.we must be glad that studio s still being out these editions instead of always complain about little things
Hey Pascal. I have just finished watching all of them myself and I was massively blown away by everything that I seen and heard. I have little complaints and hopefully I can get my reviews out this week. I haven't picked up the Rocky collection on 4K yet and I'm just waiting for a price drop on those steelbooks before I do. Thank you so much for stopping by
Nice one Keith I will definitely wait for it to drop in price 👍 the amount of 4ks I bought when I was stateside was ridiculous lol but $10 steels it would have been rude not to
I can only imagine what it must have been like stateside when it comes to the amount of choices you have. Actually I'm picturing the weight of your suitcase at the moment. Normally I would say wait for a price drop on this edition but the fact that it's numbered I honestly don't know what will happen. Apparently it's already sold out in the States. Maybe it had a more limited run I honestly don't know
@@millerman9991 well I traveled with hand luggage only still managed 19 discs of some description or other including the John wick stash book and John wick 1/2 steel book bubba ho tep straight outta Compton Star Trek the original movie set among others with some I could have gotten here and terminator dark fate Gemini man $10 steels and punisher war zone steel I needed lol
Wow fair play to you to actually fit all of that into hand luggage. That John wick stashbook is huge. I seen that punisher war Zone Steelbook as well and another beautiful looking release from lionsGate. I wouldn't mind getting that for my collection
I am the exact same as yourself Megan. I am such a huge fan of the second movie and I can't wait to see it on 4k. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out
The Superman 78 comic was a recent series DC put out that continues the Reeve universe, but in comic book form. They did the same with Batman 89 as well. As for this set, it's very well done. Love that they used the original artwork for all the movies. Although, I kind of wish the back side of the box had some type of artwork on it. A nice collage that captures key moments from each film would have been nice. The sides could still have the crystals with the S logo. Only other nitpick is that last steel book absolutely should have just been used for the Donner cut. The "collectibles" are pretty lazy and pointless imo, and I would have much rather have had the uniformity of all the movie's having the S with the Roman numerals on the backs instead of what we have with Superman II being an outlier.
Thank you so much for the heads up on the comic. I was wondering what the significance was. I actually agree with some of the problems you have with this edition. I think when it comes to the artwork for part two they should have just stuck with the original artwork and left it at that. The collectibles are quite pointless as well and maybe they should have put in Superman Returns or even Supergirl for that matter. But I understand why they didn't do it. It's still a beautiful looking edition and to be honest all I really wanted was the movies on 4K and of course to get the original artwork on Steelbook. So I'm very happy in the end. Thank you so much for stopping by
I am such a fan of Man of Steel myself. Tell you the truth Stuart I actually love that entire trilogy. I don't think it's as good as the original movies but I had such a wonderful time with them. Thank you for stopping by my friend
@@millerman9991 Agreed. I thought the trilogy was outstanding and severely underrated especially Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (which was universally panned), but the extended edition is awesome to me. The regular Justice League did stink although the Zach Snyder edition was cool as shit and made up for it. I thought Cavill's Superman was every bit as good as Reeves which was a great accomplishment.
I absolutely agree with everything you said there Chris. I am such a huge fan of Batman v Superman. I do not understand nor will I ever understand why that movie got so much hatred. Really enjoyed the Snyder cut of the Justice League myself and it's a shame we will never get a continuation of it
Como siempre estupendo umboxing. Estoy deseando que me la mande Armazón Italia. Y rezaré para que llegue bien protegida la caja. Magnífico canal. Gracias amigo
Really not sure about this set since it is numbered. That awful top gun collection only dropped to 99€ from 120 since launch in germany and italy. This set is way better and numbered. On the other hand the monsterverse collection and matrix dropped substantially in italy. Those are not numbered tho. If the superman set drops I would say for only max 20%
That Top Gun edition actually dropped down to 70 euro because that's what I paid for it. Even at that price range I still think it's too expensive. I honestly don't know what to say when it comes to this edition and whether or not it will drop. Something is telling me that it will and I think it will drop under 100 euro. It'll take a bit of time though. Even though it's numbered it's not the most limited set I have ever seen. So you never know
@@millerman9991 yes it's very nice, I just wish some of these steels in these types of sets had some embossing, the inside steel art is a little lackluster, and not keen entirely keen on the upside down art on the back of II for the donner cut, a few gripes here and there for me personally and you're quite right to point out that these are a bit loose in the set so the steels do easily Slide out, but it's a fairly solid set, though I do prefer the quality of the mad max and the monsterverse sets. I am glad we got the Donner cut, I don't know why we didn't get the directors cut or TV version as options on 4k for the the first film but hey ho I'll have to make do with the 1080p of those, I absolutely love the TV cut, I cancelled my zavvi order a few days ago as there has been some issues with stock so put my order on HMV and received this morning. 😊👍
Hey Kevin. That's why I wanted to get this edition in the end because the last time I actually had the original artwork for these movies was back in the VHS days. They look even more beautiful now on Steelbook form. I've said it a few times tonight but I have never sat down to watch the donner cut of part 2. The second one is my favorite Superman movie and I never wanted to spoil it on myself. But I am going to look at it for the first time this weekend and see what it's like. I'm very curious
Hey Mike. I really appreciate you stopping by and checking out my video even though you're not the biggest fan of Superman. Thanks again for your support
Great unboxing Keith! That set looks beautiful. I love the first 2 movies and enjoy 3. I'm in two minds about picking this up now or waiting. Do you think the steelbooks would be released individually like indiana jones?
Now that is a great question and unfortunately I don't have a great answer for you. I would love to see the steelbooks come out individually because there's some of the best looking steelbooks I've ever seen when it comes to box sets like this. Something's telling me they might. But I also think this set will drop down in price assuming it doesn't sell out. If it wasn't numbered then I would positively say yes it will drop down. But I can't be too sure now
It is a beautiful steelbook boxset that's for sure Keith but all I want is just Superman II (both cuts) 4K as a separate release, not a big fan of Superman III and IV. Thanks for sharing.
To be honest I couldn't care about part four. It was the first movie I ever seen in the cinema and that was the last time I seen it. I hated every second of it but I am going to force myself to watch it so I can review The 4K picture. I can understand why you would only want the original two. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out my friend
The last steelbook just being bonus stuff is a cop out too I thought Superman Returns would've been the fifth Steelbook as even tho it isn't Christopher Reeve it is still part of the same timeline and is a direct sequel to Superman 4
To be honest I actually thought it was a bonus disk. I knew there was a few collectibles and I was wondering where they were but when I opened the Steelbook first I was very surprised. It would have been nice to see Superman Returns but I understand why they didn't put it into it. I know it's part of the same timeline but I never see it that way to be completely honest.
@@millerman9991 yeah it's a shame the film wasn't great because Brandon Routh was actually a decent Superman I told him that myself when I met him before the Covid pandemic happened
I absolutely agree with you he was very convincing. He had Christopher Reeves traits down to a t and it's a shame the movie wasn't as successful as it should have been
A nice set, a bit expensive for my taste, especially for what you get. I'm sure the steel books are beautiful and anyone that gets it will be happy, but I feel they could have used the 5th steel book for the Donor cut and just spread the collectables thoughout the steel books for all that it is...feels a bit of a waste, plus Superman 1,3 and 4 are uniformed artwork where as 2 and the Donor Cut is the odd one out with two artworks on opposite ends.
Like I said in the video if I didn't have the 45% discount I probably wouldn't have bought it at all. I definitely would have waited for a price drop. It's a stunning looking edition and I have to admit I like what they've done with the fifth Steelbook. It's something a bit different that I've never seen before. As for the second steel book I think they should have just stuck with the original artwork and have the back the exact same as the others. But this is minor nitpicks to a stunning looking release. But it definitely needs to be cheaper
Dick Donna OG Superman for me is still the best Comic Book adaption. Weirdly enough I'm going to see it in the Cinema this weekend for Scifi Scarborough Geek Convention im to young to have seen it when it came out.
Hey Andy. I do be normally back and forward when it comes to which is my favorite Superman movie. I love the original movie but I'm a huge fan of the second movie as well. It's hard to pick between the two and I would do anything to see both of them on the big screen. Your very lucky my friend
You are the first person to comment on that. I decided to have a little fun with that video and I have to admit it turned out great. Thanks for that cheekster
To be honest Steven I didn't even look into the special features. I completely understand why that would put you off it. The only thing I will say is I actually have the Blu-ray Edition and the DVD edition of this collection so whatever features that are missing I'm sure I have it on one of them other editions. But thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and check out this video. I really appreciate it my friend
Are you serious the US version is already sold out. Wow I am really surprised to hear that. It's widely available in Europe and I'd be surprised to see it sell out
I'm presuming the reason why Returns wasn't in this release was because it was just based on the Christopher Reeves movies. Don't get me wrong I would love to have seen it in there as well. It's a very underrated Superman movie. But thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out
Im happy im able to get this but it says in the u.s it doesnt come out till may 9th but i know the the u.s version it says u get the digital code with it.
I'm almost certain the picture that I used on my thumbnail is the American version because it does say something about digital codes. Very strange that America had to wait till May to get this release. Normally it's the opposite
Nice review as always Keith. I was never a big fan of the 80s Superman franchise but I always recall liking the one with Terence Stamp and Sarah Douglas...seeing that very nice cover with the three villans reminded me that it was Superman II that they were in and makes me want to see that one again now (I haven't seen it since the 80s). I'm very curious about that alternative cut of the movie, I didn't know it existed but a quick look at IMDB suggests that most people think it is superior to the original.
I never got to say it in the video but I actually haven't seen the Richard Donner cut of this movie and I wouldn't mind part 2 is my favorite Superman movie and maybe I'm a little worried that it might rune the movie for me. But I am going to watch it this weekend because I wanted to review the 4K picture and hopefully it's as good as what everyone's making it out to be. It has some big shoes to fill so I will have to wait and see. Terence Stamp as General Zod is a revelation in the movie and to actually see that movie in 4K is going to be an absolutely treat. Thank you so much for stopping by my friend. I noticed you are kept very busy in the comment section in the past few days. I love seeing people interact with each other in my comment section
The Donner cut is great and has a few scenes that differ from the original, but is actually a minute less. It's basically the same exact film with a couple of different scene takes. You'll be hard pressed to notice a difference unless you're very familiar with the film.
@@millerman9991 Hi Keith, I thought I left quite a big reply last night but checking today it seems to have vanished completely, oh well. The short version was that I was going to urge a little caution with the Donner cut (just in case you prefer the original) as I've been "let down" with director's cuts many times...I figured you could watch the version that you know and love first and enjoy the upgrades to picture (and presumably audio) and then save the Donner cut for another time...but looking through some of the comments here, it really does seem that the Donner cut is (almost?) universally prefered...so I guess it sounds like a "safe bet" then ;-) Either way I'm looking forward to your review of it ! 🙂
On the fence about it. I have it pre ordered at Amazon US but to be honest I only want the first 2 films in 4K the other two are terrible . I was more interested in the case and the steelbooks. I may just order the first 2 stand alone from Amazon UK - the US is NOT releasing them individually (at least for now). I may cancel the pre order and wait for a European price drop...Rather spend the $$ on Film Arena ZS Justice League 😃
Hey Gordon. Apparently this edition is sold out in the state. I was very surprised to hear that because even though it's a numbered edition it's not the most Limited edition I have ever seen and to see it sell out so quickly was quite surprising. For me I just wanted to get the original artwork on Steelbook form. That was the big selling point to me and of course to get the movies on 4K as well. I still think this edition will have a price drop over here. I just can't see it setting out because it's widely available. Like you said save your money pick up that filmarena edition of the Justice League. Can't tell you how beautiful that release is
I have to admit I had no idea they were numbered when I bought it. I was actually very surprised to see it and I'm amazed they've already sold out in the States. They are widely available in Europe at the moment
I seen that on Amazon Italy and I thought it was a fantastic price. Congratulations on picking it up. I did say it in my video that I could see this edition going down in price.
@@millerman9991 Thanks. Yep really glad I got it as it looks amazing. I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't include the Expanded TV cut. Not sure what else is missing off the blu ray. Superman Returns I didn't feel that it fit with the Christopher Reeves movies so not really a loss for me on that one.
Yeah a lot of people complained about Superman Returns and I honestly didn't care. Not that I thought the movie was bad but I think this boxset is dedicated to Christopher Reeves and I think it would have been wrong to include that movie. To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of the television version for Superman so I wasn't really that disappointed. I have it on Blu-ray and I'm okay with that
Hey Keith. Thanks for this video. I'd seen pictures of the set but nice to see it in more detail. The price for this was a little prohibitive for me, but it does look great. Be interesting to see what you think of the transfers. I just bought the standard edition of superman at the weekend and thought it looked pretty good. Like you, I'd heard a lot of negatives about it too. I opted for the steelbook of part 2 but it's yet to be dispatched by zavvi. Apparently they haven't received the stock yet, which sucks. Anyway, keep up the good work friend 👍
Its being widely reported that Zavvi are in financial trouble and haven't paid a lot of there suppliers and The Hut Group is in negotiations to sell it off to an American company.
@@rhmedia1701 I won't book my superman 2 viewing party just yet then 😅 I'm not a huge zavvi fan, but it's good to have physical media purchasing options. And you can bag a bargain or 2 from time to time.
Even I think the price is too steep and like I said in the video if I didn't have that 45% off I don't think I would have bought it. It's probably one of the nicest steelbook box sets that I've seen from Warner Brothers but I can't justify 150 Euro for it. It was great to finally get the original artwork and it looks great in Steelbook form. Hopefully the movies will look equally as good as this edition and I'm looking forward to putting them videos together. I hope you have no trouble getting your Steelbook from Zavvi. There seems to be lots of issues with them at the moment. But I'm sure everything will be okay. Thanks again Ian for stopping by. I hope you enjoy part two whenever you get it through the door. All the best my friend
@@iannorris4503 I know some industry insiders and I wouldn’t hold your breath in getting it. Loads of people have cancelled there box sets with Zavvi and gone to Amazon.
Sure you'll have been losing sleep over this Keith. But pleased to confirm that zavvi have now messaged to say my steelbook has been dispatched 🥳 in zavvi we trust 😅 just hope it's not dinged now 🤞 Happy Friday friend 👍
I was very surprised to hear that it's sold out in the States. It's widely available over here and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks
lovely steelbook as for the movie not a huge fan i respect it as the pioneer of the genre but not for me . love richard donners superman 2 never seen 3 and 4 never will. man of steel is my favourite superman top 10 movies of all time the most underrated superhero movie maybe period of all time .
Hey Sean. No I completely respect that. These movies are not for everybody. To be completely honest I actually can't remember parts three and four that well. Part 4 was the first movie I ever went to see in the cinema and it's a wonder I actually went back after seeing that horrible movie. Thank you so much for stopping by even though you're not a fan. I really appreciate it
I'm very excited to see part three but Part 4 that's a completely different thing altogether. I am going to force myself to watch it just so I can review The 4K picture but I'm not expecting anything from it
Can you please comment on the pic / sound quality? There have been issues with Superman The Movie, Donner cut & Superman 4 main titles at beginning (music).
Unfortunately I have only seen the first one so far and it was the exact same 4K transfer that we got before. There is not a thing wrong with the opening titles to the first movie that I'm aware of. Just bear in mind the first movie has its limitations when it comes to picture quality but it's by far the best the movie has ever looked
@@millerman9991 Def recommend this box set. Feel disappointed 1st film hasn't been enhanced following 2018 4k version. One contributor mentioned when Superman takes off to save Lois in heliciptor it is quite dark. Also an issue with Christopher Reeve name in opening titles?
I have to admit I had no issues when it comes to the movie looking dark and I'm actually watching it with an OLED television. As for the credits with Christopher Reeves name what exactly was wrong with it just out of curiosity
@@millerman9991 I just double checked Superman:The Movie from the 4K steel book set and its the same transfer from the release a few years ago. Still has the visible glitch during the opening credits with Christopher Reeve's name on screen. Areas off the picture are too dark in particular his take off to save Lois for the first time. The surprise omission as many have highlighted is the lack of the orignal sound mix in Dolby 5.1 All we get is the Micheal Thau mix in Dolby Atmos and the original Dolby Stereo mix in DTS-MA Stereo. I'm baffled why Warner's left it out, error on their behalf perhaps? If you pick up the new box set make sure to keep your previous copy of STM in 4K. I suspect once more people get their hands on this new set many complaints will be made and Warner's will be forced to issue replacements
I was just looking at the title and yes I see what you mean it comes up as Christopher Reeve. To be honest I don't find the picture Dark. It's no more darker than any other 4K movie out there and that's what you have to expect unfortunately when it comes to Dolby Vision. It has atendencies to darken the picture a little bit. When it comes to the title screen I honestly don't know what people are complaining about. It's nitpicking at its finest unfortunately. I didn't even notice when I watched it last night as I'm sure not many people would
I totally agree with you on the pricing of this set. I love the design. But the price should be under the 100 euro. 150 is way too much for this set. And I think it's a missed opportunity that it doesn't contain the 2000's Superman movie. I think the tin case dvd set does contain that movie. Maybe a weird question, but how do you get those enormous discount codes at Amazon? I tested the other steelbook sets (lotr , hobbit, max max etc.), the steelbooks also fall out when I turn it upside down. One downpoint in this set. Every steelbook is completely different. I would like some consistency in the artwork. Or recurring elements. Now they are all completely different.
I have to admit Robert I strongly disagree with you when it comes to the steelbooks themselves. One of the reasons to why I wanted this edition is to get the original artwork for each movie. It's what makes this edition great. As for the discount I actually had it a while on my Amazon account. They gave me a 45% discount refund because of a box set that I had damaged and I saved it just for the right edition. It would have been nice to get Superman Returns in this set but I completely understand why they didn't do it. I think this set is a testament to Christopher Reeves and maybe putting Returns in would have been out of place. I do remember checking out my last two metal pack Editions from Warner Brothers and none of the steelbooks were sliding out like they did with this one. I must check my Mad Max Edition and see
@@millerman9991 don't get me wrong. I love the artwork on each version. Does every movie have the original artwork? That makes more sense for me. Because the first one is subtle with the Superman logo in the air. But the other ones are comiccy (is that a word?) with the fourth one as the ultimate comiccy artwork. I like that one the most by the way. But the outer box and the first one are very subtle while the 4 other steelbooks are very in your face. I also tried it on my Dragon Ball super box set. They also fall out. So maybe it's more unique if they are sturdy in the boxset. And of course it's not the purpose to put those boxxets upside down all the time. So that it something I don't worry about for myself. Thanks for the quick reply once again. Your quick and honest reactions are always a pleasure to read. Even when you don't always have to agree. But that makes every person unique of course!
Thank you for the new word Robert and I will try to introduce that into my videos 😆 🤣. COMICCY I love it. Believe it or not but yes that is the original artwork for the first Superman. It's very simplistic but I actually love the color scheme to it. That Dragon Ball edition you are talking about. I've seen pictures to it and it looks beautiful but it's something I would never watch and for a moment I actually considered buying it just so I could have it sitting beside the rest of these steel book box sets. But I came to my senses and realized I was being stupid. But it really is a gorgeous looking edition. It goes without saying Robert but I would always reply as quickly as I can to someone like yourself who is a regular and always showing me support. Like you said we don't always agree with each other but how boring would that be if we did. Thanks again for stopping by my friend
its driving me crazy i know the music playing but i cant place it thats at the intro of the video. please help me out. im a shitty movie fan i know since i cant remember what its from lol. that or it is close to a movie theme. i just cant place it
It's one of my favourite John Carpenter themes Assault on Precinct 13. There's nothing worse when you have a theme song in your head and you can't place what it's from
I only just watched the remake around two nights ago. That is a wonderful remake. It's very different but it's also very familiar if that makes any sense. As for Starman it's probably one of my least favorite John Carpenter movies but having said that it's still a very decent little movie. Definitely check it out
I got this from HMV and used a 20% off referral code. It cost me £103.99. Not a bad price. It’s probably not worth the full price though. There are a few things that should have been added
I would have been more than happy paying £104 for this release. I think it's probably the best Steelbook box set that Warner Brothers have brought out and I'm very happy that I got it in the end. The 45% voucher really helped though in helping me make my mind up. Thank you for checking it out my friend
I am glad you are happy with your purchase. For me I am underwhelmed by this is lame, lazy effort even with 45% off. If Warner Brothers wanted to do something special why didn't they raise/emboss each case and offer a separate, high-quality booklet with each film rather than pointless fifth case with precious little in it (IMO), but each To Their Own👍😁
In all fairness the worst-looking movie is the original Superman on 4K and that has Dolby Vision. Not taking anything away from how it looks because it looks amazing but the other three look far better
The Collection From 16 Years Ago (Steel Book Set) You Mailed In A Copy Of Your Reciet and You Got 6 Free Superman Films Movie Posters; 2 Of Superman: The Movie And 1 Each Of Superman 2 -4😊
Are u kidding, not you yourself but ...never mind no dolby vision on any of the films as it says on the disc expect for superman one. I'll wait for the US steel book release
Not the biggest fan of this set . Some of the steelbooks are nice designs. I'm not a fan of the flip on Superman 2 would rather it just be the the standard way up. The bonus content seems lackluster. Nice steelbook art but felt they could have done something better. I'm hoping Filmarena or HD zeta produce something special. I think it's way overpriced for what it is
To be honest Matt all I wanted was the four steelbooks with the original artwork. What more could you ask for when it comes to the Superman collection. I actually love the bonus Steelbook you get with it it's definitely a first for me but the contents were definitely lacking. It is a very hefty Price Tag and like I said in the video if I didn't have that 45% off I definitely wouldn't have bought it. I had no idea it was a numbered edition though. Thanks for stopping by Matt
@@millerman9991 yeah at nearly half the price I can see why you picked it up . Don't get me wrong the steel book art is fantastic for the most part I just think they could have done a better job on the first two steelbooks . Great pick up 👍
I actually agree with you by the way when it comes to the second Steelbook. They should have just stuck with the original artwork and matched up the back with the rest of the steelbooks.
I really wanted to get these steelbooks, but being honest with myself, i just couldn't justify buying this for JUST the steelbooks. I don't currently have a 4k player and even if I did I would choose the TV version or the directors cut of the first film as my default viewing choice, neither of which are included here. It also doesn't include Superman Returns so i would have needed to find a way to have that as a seperate case. Then there's some extras that are missing grom this version. Yeah, i think with me already owning the definitive bluray box and the TV cut & Supergirl separately, it would be too much of a downgrade to move on to this box. Its a shame as i do love the art on the steelbooks.
I completely understand Gary. Especially the fact that you don't have a 4K player it would absolutely be pointless picking this up. I'm almost certain the television version is on the Blu-ray that you get with this release. As for Superman Returns I knew it was never going to be in this set anyway this is more dedicated to Christopher Reeves movies and even though Superman Returns is part of the same time line I never seen it that way. In terms of special features I have my blu ray special edition and I had no intention of ever getting rid of it so the special features don't really bother me either. To be honest I think Supergirl would have made more sense to have inside this set and I think they missed a trick by not doing that
I bought an expensive box set from Amazon a while back. I can't remember what it was but there was some damage to it so they gave me a 45% discount. I was saving it for the right edition
@@millerman9991 Doh!. Because your @ did not show @Euphoria Pictures, I thought one of your subscribers replied on what happened to them. That's why I asked where they lived. Here in the States, they would just have you send it back and give you a refund. It's because of your channel I have purchased a $hit load of movies from Amazon Italy. It was still cheaper to buy from them (including shipping/exchange rate) than from Amazon US. Crazy. Keep up the great channel.
Very good I see what you mean. I was wondering there for a second what was going on 😆 🤣. But in all seriousness I am so happy to hear a that my videos helped you out in the past particularly with Amazon Italy and hopefully this edition will have a future price drop as well. Thanks again for stopping by. Really appreciate all the support
Lovely Steelbook Collection Keith. To be honest it’s a shame that superman returns was not included in this set as I think it is a great film. Unlike superman 4😵
Hey Shaun. To be honest I haven't seen Superman Returns since it came out all them years ago. I don't remember hating the movie but I honestly can't remember anything about it. I know it's part of the Christopher Reeves timeline movies but I never seen it that way. The less we say about Superman 4 the better. Thanks for stopping by my friend
@@millerman9991 I compare it to what I paid for the shout factory Halloween set and Friday the 13th sets. I paid less for them with many more movies and extras, to a set of four movies which two of the movies I don't care to see again. The steelbooks look great but not enough to pay 100 for. I get why others would buy it.
Another thing you have to factor in though when it comes to the Superman edition over the likes of the friday 13th release is it's a numbered Edition and it's also a Steelbook edition so that alone is going to bump up the price significantly. But as you said you only care about the first two movies so it wouldn't make much sense buying it
I've said it in a few comments tonight but Part 4 was the first movie I ever seen in the cinema and I hated every second of it and I haven't seen it since then. I'm going to check it out this weekend and see what happens but I'm not expecting anything from it. I do remember enjoying part three but it's nothing near close to the original two movies. Thank you for stopping by Gary
I actually remember Part IV being entertaining but as you said, can't hold a candle to the first 2. The set is $97 right now on Amazon. If it goes down to $50-$60 I may pick it up.
Just wait and see Gary and fingers crossed it will drop down. The only thing that bothers me is what I said in the video the fact that this edition is numbered. It's by no means the most limited set I have ever seen but the fact that the number is there does slightly worry me in terms of price drop
Yes it would have been nice to see it in this set but I understand why they didn't put it in. I think there more focused on the Christopher Reeves movies. Thanks for checking it out though
Yeah I agree mark. I am going to try and watch it this weekend because I want to be able to review the 4K picture. But I'm not expecting anything from it
I never got to say it in the video but Superman 4 was my first ever movie I seen in the cinema. It's a wonder I went back because I hated every second of it. I'll be curious to check it out because the last time I seen it was that time
I have to admit Paul I did enjoy the recent Superman movies but having said that they would never come remotely close to the original 2 Superman movies. I don't think anything will out do them
