@@thischannelisdeleted I’m 21, went to college 2017-2019, also I’m from the uk so what we call college is different than in the US, basically we finish the uk equivalent to high school at 16 and then go to sixth form or college until 18 and then if we want to go on to university which is the equivalent to the US college

Happy to hear this 4K release of "Pulp Fiction" is a Royale with cheese! The transfer is terrific and a significant upgrade to the Lionsgate/Miramax 2011 Blu-ray (which Paramount recycled and reissue. Even though that was a great release at the time!) Definitely buying this someday!

Excited to pick this up, thanks for the info. When did Tarantino come out against 4K? I'm curious to read the interview or whatever. I remember reading about him being bummed about the Fistful of Dollars 50th anniversary screening, but that was more about preserving film in theatre. Anyways, not trying to counter-point - just genuinely want to read his comments and didn't find anything after googling for it

I don't think you cover this in the video: is the standard (1080K) Blu Ray included in the pack identical to the old Blu Ray? Or is it a new transfer from 4K (like the Space Odyssey 4K or the Shining 4K).

My pulp steelbook came today ,the clarity on the 4k is astounding. It looks like how a movie is supposed to look. My old blu ray copy cant compare. I rate it FANTASTIC. And Im only to the restaurant scene. I love it. And highly recommend.

Thank you so much for this videos! I've been hesitant about upgrading , especially since you've also talked about, we both know that some 4ks aren't great. But these Tarantino ones that came out sound really really good and I will definitely be picking them up thank you so much for the info! It seems odd but, happy for him to concentrate on new films and it doesn't stop us having them on 4K. I would rather that than James Cameron / George Lucas approach who either seems to block films (Abyss) as he's too busy to oversee it, and then when we do get a 4K of a film it's been altered (Terminator 2, Star Wars).

I'd heard that this 4K was good, and the screenshots looked promising, so that makes me happy because this is my favorite Tarantino film (although I love them all). I don't like the artwork on the steelbook OR the standard edition though, so I'm gonna keep the *slipcover* from my Blu Ray (with the good ol' classic poster art) and put that slipcover over the 4K case

Sigh purists are something else. "good ol classic" it is the classic with a cool noir look to it. And yes I know it isn't a noir film. But I think the black and white absolutely fits her aesthetic like the way she's dressed. It's a good cover.

Standard looks too Sin City and removes the 10 cents “sticker.” I like the steel but with so many stories and characters why just those two? Seems like they could’ve done a few different variants or some poster cards atleast. I like it anyway.

I love your review of this. One of my faves if all time too. (Just a note- not a criticism on your observation, I think the back has the Durwood Kirby Burger, and the $5 shake from Jack Rabbit Slim’s, not the Royal With Cheese that wasn’t seen onscreen(or the Big Kahuna Burger wrapped in wax paper) from Big Kahuna. Design wise it makes sense too as the front has them dancing at JRS.) I’ll probably get this ASAP! Thank you for your thorough reviews. I love your channel.

I find it puzzling that Quentin Tarantino doesn’t like the 4K format. If it were that he is a purist and specifically doesn’t like HDR, Dolby Vision, etc., I’d somewhat understand that-to a degree. But from what you’re saying and what I’ve heard elsewhere, he doesn’t like the format itself, and I don’t understand that. Of all the conventional formats available, 4K most closely resembles/matches what a brand new, pristine 35mm film print would look like. Being the film buff he is, you’d think he’d be behind 4K 100%. Anyway, I’m looking forward to purchasing this steelbook! I’ve got my copy on preorder!

Pulp Fiction is in my top 10 movies of all time, so this is a no-brainer for me, picking it up tomorrow in fact. Surprised to learn that Tarantino isn’t a fan of 4K!?! You’d think he would support a format that preserves films (for home viewing at least) in the best possible way. Why would he not support that? Surely that is better than everyone streaming, not to mention giving physical media a new lease of life.

I’ve wanted this AND Reservoir Dogs ever since I adopted the format with my Xbox One X and my Vizio display. When True Romance came out I had my fingers crossed, and FINALLY! Also, I HOPE Desparado and From Dusk Till Dawn see 4K restoration in the future. Other picks; Falling Down, the Vacation franchise, Uncle Buck, Terminator 1 and a TOTAL redo of 2 with the extended cuts, True Lies, Commando, The Warriors, I can think of a bunch that deserve it!

Great review, I think Pulp Fiction (along with Fight Club) is the film that defines the decade of the 90’s and I plan to get the 4K. Was it a ‘Royale with cheese’ on the back of the steelbook? Or the Durward Kirby burger that Mia ordered at Jack Rabbit slims..along with a shake?

I kinda think if you are doing a top 10 list you have to include the quality of the movie. There are some great quality audio and video releases this year of really shitty movies. Just saying. I'm not referring to this btw, I love all of Tarantino's stuff. I just feel like if Pulp Fiction on 4k is halfway decent it deserves top 10. I might start in on this whole hobby and posting reviews. Love the channel! I also love 4K but when it comes to movies shot on film, I prefer the original version. In my opinion the color grading totally takes away from the director’s original vision. For example in that first comparison shot you really get the sense of morning sunshine in a crappy diner, but in the 4K shot it looks like so much of the natural light is totally gone. To me, trying to make a film not look old is taking away it’s charm and Personality

The downside of No Atmos mix means if you have more speakers, your processor has to do the upmixing so the content is no longer native, that’s the negative about it regardless of how good the mix sounds, I have a 7.1.2 Atmos set up and object based audio is just future proof, means it will never get outdated, I can add tons of speakers and the native content will still put that sound where the engineer and director wanted it, so while it may be fine, it’s just disappointing to not see a little extra effort

If/when you do a top 10 best looking 4k discs, it would be cool if you did one where it is best looking movies that were shot on film and another list of top 10 movies shot digitally.

Apparently Jeff has never been to a McDonalds in his life. That is not a "Royale with cheese" aka a Quarter Pounder with cheese. It has lettuce and Tomato on it which disqualifies it as being a Royale with Cheese. Since the $5 Milkshake is next to it, I think they are intending it to be a Durward Kirby burger served at Jack Rabbit Slims.

Tarantino has also came out and said that actors who participated in Marvel MCU are not stars. Whatever. Lol The only movies I own by Tarantino are Kill Bill, Vols 1 & 2. Like his other movies but not enough to add to my collection.

Super happy with this release as well as reservoir dogs. so I guess you could say 'We Happy'. Hope we get the remaining Tarantino films on 4K. Like Django and Hateful 8 should look great since those were finished at 4K. the Kill Bills if done right could be a good step up despite being finished at 2K (crosses fingers for 'The Whole Bloody Affair' version making its home video debut). Jackie Brown would, of course, be fantastic and Death Proof even though it's supposed to look beat up and kind of shitty for half the film might be nice as well.

Where has Tarantino said he doesnt like the 4K UHD format?. All I have found is him talking about how he doesn't like 4K restorations shown in theaters on digital projectors. He preferes shooting on film and watching 35mm. He mentions he would rather watch a film at home on DVD than in a digital movie theater. Good review by the way

Thanks Jeff. I do tend to disagree with you about Atmos / DTS-X audio upgrades on 4K. To me it's at least 35-50% of my reason/cost consideration of upgrading. Now the atmos/DTS-X doesn't necessarily have to have lots of stuff going on.. because, like the surrounds & rears in 5.1 many times all we get its room ambience and slight reverberated content (and some musical content) making it sound as if you are in the movie with the actors. This (to me ) adds very much to my immersion level... and makes me feel good about my 9.1 bed layer purchase. From what I'm learning there are many studios setup for this type of audio upgrade. I'm just hesitant buying 4k's without this, in concern of them going back within 6 months to a few years, to then add it and charge us again for now the REAL 4k upgrade. I held off of buying 4k in the beginning because they were kind of doing the same thing between blu & 4k where they would release a blu then 6 months to a year later a 4k/Blu combo pack.. trapping many folks into double dipping. We must speak with our $$. Not trying to be a downer but we must hold these greedy companies to a standard. Even Vincent (HDTV Tests) is making videos about sub par HDR in 4K releases. Just food for thought!

Movies of this age aren’t even mixed for that though. It’s a newer technology that makes sense for newer, more advanced audio tracks. I see where you’re coming from but 5.1 is just fine in many cases.
