Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane was a long running classic DC Comic. Beginning in the silver age and travelling into the bronze it highlighted the escapades of Superman supporting character, and love interest, Lois Lane. In many of these adventures the intrpid reporter would find herself marrying people who were not the man of steel. This particular outing gets particularly rough with Lois, and gets a bit contentious for some along the way. Come join the madness here on Casually Comics!

Ah, the Silver Age, when Superman was the evil version of Ultraman instead of the other way around. "You spent days in disguise as Satan convincing Lois she'd sold her soul to you and was damned for eternity, and you even recruited the Kandorians to help out? How am I suppose dto be the bad one, Kal? Even Owlman would think that was sociopathic and he wants to destroy all of reality."

I would just like to point out, that being a Park Ranger actually takes a lot of training and specific scientific acumen. They typically are more one part field researcher, one part baby sitter, one part emergency responder with a little cross country hiking athlete thrown in. They do, a lot, have typically long hours and the ones I've worked with have been very dedicated to protecting nature and people. They're not compensated enough either.

For me, this story falls more into the slightly tragic, not everything has to have a happy ending-type story, because writers like to hit All the Feels! I did like this guy more than most, no trophy room and making points about Superman! I'll vote for more Lana Lang!

About that comment where Lois says that she thought the Kryptonite necklace was jade, I'm pretty sure she didn't forget they were kryptonite. The way I was reading it, it seemed more like that she forgot she was wearing it and tried to cover up where she got it by saying she thought it was jade, like she got it from the store or something.

This Amerindian portrayal seemed fine, especially for the times, until they gave a SW Nation a magical totem pole... For context, this is about as geographically divergent as a Danish superhero drawing his power from an Egyptian obelisk. Definitely see what she meant by "grab-bag of tropes." Regardless - love the plot twist & the artist's dedication to drawing the ring.

@@Naharu. it's not the magic that's the issue, it's that a totem pole was in New Mexico... Totem poles are part of the indigenous cultures in the Pacific NW - totally different from any traditions you'd see in the SW

I'd totally watch videos on different silver-age shenanigans, even those that aren't explicitly about Lois Lane's love life. I'd probably be more interested in those stories than the modern, current storylines, since they're short, simple, and don't require keeping track of the plot. They're funny one-offs... and who doesn't love those? Also I love the hair - it's so pretty!

Oh god, I was waiting for that one since so long. As soon as i saw the thumb image, I squeeled. OH YES YES YES YES YES! One of my favorite story of Superman's Girl friend Lois lane! The pure, unaltered, undiluted, fascinating, BEAUTIFUL madness. Plus, the "there's a whole world of torments for Lana Lang." i read the original Superboy series. Please, I'm almost CRYING I want it so much!!!!

I’ve always had odd feelings about the idea that a Shapeshifter taking a more handsome/beautiful appearance is somehow lying. Like… it kind of feels like the same logic as saying someone wearing make up or getting cosmetic surgery is somehow lying about their appearance. Obviously it depends on the subtext of that particular story, since sometimes Shapeshifting is played far more as a metaphor for deception, but just in the literal sense it feels weird. Also not to say strong bear wasn’t lying in other ways, because he very obviously was.

Almost all Silver Age stories that concern romance or pairing in any way, shape or form could be considered problematic. This has to do with the fact that the stories were meant for pre-teen boys and this is the way adults perceived their thinking process. BTW, LOVE THE WIG!!!

As a child of the mid eighties, I didn't get into comics until the 90's. When I went to art school for college, I learned about Roy Lichtenstein's artwork. He was famous for elevating comic book artwork to high museum worthy art. I never really understand why comic book artwork was considered so low brow, because I was used to works by Chris Bachalo, which i thought was beautiful. These silver age Lois Lane books really drive it in. They did her so dirty. The artwork is still beautiful, but the writing 😅

One thing I've noticed about Superman and his 'space missions'. There is an entire Green Lantern Corps for Space Missions - but I don't think I've ever seen any Earth GL go on a mission like Superman does. So yeah I agree Superman just says that to have a free day at home - calling in sick today!!
