We had to add 12 concrete Footers to the crawl space area and put support beams in between the span from the front to the middle and from the back to the middle
Had me laughing, I'll be doing the same thing with the cigarette. Busy so it goes out, but I'll be working however long with it still hanging out my mouth.
believe it or not I learned a lot underneath this house I've been jacking houses up on and off for 15 years and I never Jack one up like this this thing was literally horse and buggy this house was horse and buggy from Sears and Roebuck they had they had a had a bunch of Kooks on one wagon all the food on another supplies on one oh man field hands everybody had a job meter probably took 60 to 70 people Plus just to get these damn houses to where they were ordered I mean can you imagine that thing's got shiplap throughout the entire house walls and ceilings there's two nails and every single two and a half inch piece of shiplap in every single stud there's probably a dump truck load a Nails in this house. It just blows my mind the hard work that people used to do nowadays people are just we're so lazy. I'm lazy you know even though I'm a hardworking american ..
The two cranking jacks were 20 ton jacks so 40 tons and then the screw jacks that we installed 16 of them.. they were mechanical meaning that they were threaded so they could be tightened down the road and once house gets leveled then could put blocks and footer and then remove jacks but you can leave the jacks under there it saves the customer some money and it actually you know can work out as a selling point also you know if you go to sell the place and they don't really like it they're planning on remodeling it it can always make any necessary adjustments to their remodeling or repairs adjustments
2 story farm house. joist broke at stair case. do i just do that one and fix with a sister board then do the whole floor span. It would be a 30 feet span. any answer would be helpful. thank you Marnee
I'm on the job w foundation repair guys all the time and never see them use a level when jacking a house. I'm guessing they are just installers and maybe another crew comes behind them to fine tune everything. Maybe I'm just not on the job long enough to see how they do it but always wondered.
Have a question: What is every material you're using from the concrete blocks to the wood to the stands and the jacks and anything else you may be using? And what store should I buy them from?
about to do this on my 1890 house i just bought. they added a second foor to a single floor structure and it's sagging in the middle main support beam would like to know the ton jack you used i was gonna go grab about 3 of the harbor freight bottle jacks and attempt this but don't wanna risk it if it's not safe lol
Well there's a few different ways you set string lines from one side of the house to the other and then from corner to corner and you measure before you start jacking up you measure from the string to the beam so that when you start jacking it up you know where you were and you said a golem where you want to be also you have somebody upstairs with a level on the floor and you go a little bit at a time listen to the house..
What size beam is that? 4x6? Also is that what your local building code called for? I know most people don't pull permits for stuff like this. Just curious?
It was a I'm pretty sure there was a 6x6 all the way across the center of that house but we put two 4x6 support beams on each side of it some places it didn't have to come off the original beam I mean it really didn't have to come up the original beam that bad at all those Craftsman style houses are unbelievable I mean just the thought of them bringing that kit across the i Marsh causeway.. all the wood all the people that it took to get a house delivered like that. I mean you had Cooks probably it was probably at least 8 I mean it was probably 18 to 20 horse and buggies .. there's a dump truck load of nails in that house
Yeah well you're not we went really taking out anything I just put beams in beside both beams and I poured footers to the state code but they were never inspected but My Aunt Linda made me put rebar chairs in them with rebar and pig ties to tighten them rebar to the chairs 12x12 and everything and I got pictures of them it was done right by the book....
@@jnjservices1 I ask because I can't find anything on the beam size requirements to be honest. as for the post I think they don't care as long as the platform is 12"x12". Honestly most inspectors would never crawl under a house unless something was way off. I just want to make sure what ever I decide to run is strong enough to handle the weight of up to 2 stories
