You bring up a good point and it bothers me too. The goal is to win the fight first being the defensive situation and second being in the legal situation. So it’s a good idea to assess your accessories. If it helps, you win the fight and you can justify it later than do it. If it doesn’t help, you win the fight and it might come up in an awkward conversation, don’t do it lol

Certain supressors like the one used on the MP5SD that fit over a ported barrel do reduce muzzle velocity. But they aren't the norm.
@Ertactical
@Ertactical Месяц назад
Not quite, I do have that sub-gun and love it. It’s not the suppressor that reduces the speed. It’s the barrel. The barrel has ports in it shortly after the chamber to take a supersonic round and reduce it down to around 1050 ft./s. Also takes full advantage of the suppressor. We will do a video on interval suppressed guns soon. Thanks for your support and feedback.

Great vid Rob... Didn't realize you are in AZ also. What I did think was interesting was your comment on not using silencers in home defense, and while I completely understand that theory, our CCW instructor had the opposite. If you fire you're weapon in your house unsuppressed, the ringing in your ears would prevent you from hearing where the bad guy was if you had to go after him and listen for any noises. Both I think are great arguments. Cant wait to see the stuff on the Hollywood Quiet suppressor too!!
@cornfedchris58
@cornfedchris58 Месяц назад
I tend to agree with using a can in self defense, your word against the criminal is pretty easy when there is a random dude layed out on the floor in your own home lol. I also agree with being disoriented after firing off any gun indoors because shooting at an indoor range even with ear pro and a can on is really obnoxious, much less having your wife, child, or dog be scared for the rest of their lives with such loud noises going off. It’s a bad take to say not to use a can in self defense imo.
@chipsterb4946

Common sense to me is keeping your hearing inside the house would be a major benefit.
@Ertactical
@Ertactical Месяц назад
There are many good thoughts, theories, and opinions here. None of which are wrong. If you can justify that it helps you in your fight then you may choose that course of action. However, if someone deems you have done something illegal. One of the many charges that come with discharging your firearm in your house or taking another human beings life. Then there is an additional felony in regards to using an NFA item to commit a crime. This is a concerning aspect of defensive situations. It really comes down to your understanding of the law and the conversation you have with your attorney before your emergency. Some attorneys will say feel free to use a suppressor within your home. Some will say do not to avoid the additional felony. This is why we use the banner that you need to make your own adult choices and it’s a good idea for you to talk with your attorney before your defense situation. I personally do not use a suppressor on my weapon For defensive purposes. The zombies come that can change lol
@chipsterb4946
@chipsterb4946 Месяц назад
@@Ertactical I was totally unaware that using an NFA item in the commission of a crime (regardless of whether I think it is justified and, therefore, legal) could be an additional felony charge. Unfortunately, under 18 USC 1924(c)(1), it’s a THIRTY YEAR mandatory minimum sentence for using an NFA item in a crime. Obviously, you would still need to be found guilty of something, but it could be as simple as reckless endangerment from a negligent discharge or errant round.

Good video but I disagree with not using a suppressor inside your home. The loss of hearing, even temporarily, from a rifle round indoors can cause you to lose situational and tactical awareness. You may not hear cries from your family members or other sounds critical to winning the gunfight. My choice for home defense is a suppressed 9mm PCC with subs

I 100% don't agree with the Don't use a suppressor for home defense. I have dogs and family, and myself, whom none of want to be deafened in the dark of night or day, if a home invasion happens! So my go to shotgun... can't be surpressed! But a pistol or PCC sure will be! Plus my older, deaf neighbors, can't hear me shooting a shotgun in the back yard, so thats a none issue! And If I have to unleash hell in the house.... Hell is coming with me to finish the job! Just quietly....

First I live in the woods of North Idaho so hearing a gun shoot at 2 am is not the norm but also not that uncommon. It just means a coyote or cougar got into someone's chicken coop. My neighbors will roll over and just go to sleep. Now a string of shots like a war zone may get their attention. It may be a state issue but I was told if you use an NFA item in what you think is a justifiable defense but for some reason the system feels it was not justifiable and bring you up on charges for murder or what ever that by using an NFA item in what they consider a commission of a crime could add extra time to a possible sentence. Just something to think about, more added charges. Home defense is a Glock 19 with light but I do have a 10.5 300 blk silenced at the ready for that 2 am coyote/cougar issue if needed.
@Ertactical
@Ertactical Месяц назад

@Ertactical

Yes, when in the fight is the most important part. But as you said, the tactical aspect could be trouble some later. Particularly when it comes to NFA items. As there is an additional felony charge, if you are found guilty of any form of a crime and you use an NFA item to commit that crimewith additional felony. As silly as that is.
@eric3969

@@Ertactical good point on NFA related additional charges. Home defense shouldn't be a problem, though you never know. Crazy that this in even an issue as a silencer makes the weapon way safer to operate indoors.
@Spushed
@Spushed Месяц назад
You do in fact lose some of your rights. If you have a short barrel rifle or short barrel shotgun you must request permission from the ATF in order to move from state to state even if it is just on a road trip. You even have to request their permission to be able to move to a different state if you own a short barrel rifle or short barrel shotgun. So therefore your right to travel is restricted with your own personal property.
@Ertactical
@Ertactical Месяц назад
This is sort of accurate. You can still move, but the suppressor itself needs permission to move. So you do not lose rights, however, if you want to move with that suppressor as you mentioned to a new state then yes you will need permission in advance. But the permission is not for you to move. It’s for the item to move with you. it is an inconvenience but not a loss of your rights. Thank you for clarifying that for everyone and your positive feedback and support.
@Spushed
@Spushed Месяц назад
@@Ertactical the implication is that if you want to keep your property AND move you need permission. YOUR property, bought by YOU. No property owned by you should require anyone's permission. Thus in fact you are being held down by illegal federal law to move with said property, owned by you, in possession by you. Either you ask for permission, don't (risk it for the biscuit), or abandon/relinquish property to allow yourself to move. This is an infringement of rights.
