Am I crazy in saying that for what the Surface Studio is in terms of the technology involved that it's priced pretty reasonably?

Oh man, I hope my work IT department decides to get some of those Surface Books. They went with the SP3 last year, but got the base SKU and were confused why people didn't like it (folks were trying to run MatLab & other eng software)... so, maybe I shouldn't have too much hope

If the dial worked for Starcraft 2, that'd be great! I'd love to be able to control hits and play it all just using the touch screen without the need of the keyboard and mouse. That would be amazing

You're missing all the key elements that make the Surface Studio revolutionary. For example the Surface Dial is not a new element of design, it's a radically new input method for Windows PCs.

Alltough i'm a macuser i have to admit: this is a Nice piece of Hardware. And as a graphic Designer i think it's pretty cool to use a Touchscreen this Huge... BUT i can't See the reason why it's an all-in-one PC. I mean this Looks cool and smooth and stuff, but who is going to be using it like this? It doesn't seem comfortable while sitting because it's to high...

This is cheep. If you want to buy only a display that's about the same as this, you have to pay about $2700.

I like the Microsoft Surface Studio, I like the colors, contrast and the zoom functionality. The price however is very steep for me. That's like $20,390.20 in my currency.

does the surface studio and surface book incorporate palm rejection technology? So you can write naturally without worrying about your palm being picked up by the touch screen?

The hockey puck is a superfluous gimmick. Surely, the scroll dial on a mouse could do all the same functions. I don't want another object cluttering up my desk. I want as few peripherals as possible.

Ordered the top end Studio model the other day but I have to wait till "early 2017" before it ships...bummer. I think I have to donate a kidney to pay for it but it's worth it!

If it costs $4000 it's supposed to be amazing. Tech should be more available for creative people not just those who can spend thousands. So, what's the point? They made it so expensive that it actually made the iPad Pro make sense.

I'd like to see someone use this in a seated position. Also I want to see some record music using pro tools and edit video. once I can see its functionality in those areas...i may consider buying one. but u til then, it's a cool looking computer.

To me, the main difference between Mac and Windows is in the OS. The ergonomics and design is essential when you actually hold the device in your palm. Then a lot of things happen on the very outside of the unit. But when it is a full time and full size computer, it is not that important how it looks, but more how it behaves. So then it is more about what happens inside of the OS. And there a Mac is a lot better than Windows. No matter how beautiful the Surface Studio is (which it really is), it will not compensate the discomfort of the operating system. That is my IMHO, of course.

this price never go below 2k just considering its monitor by itself unless the market decide to make 4k as mediocre resolution

So does Windows now scale properly on higher resolutions now? Wasn't that always a thing? Or is this an outdated idea? If so, since when? Windows 8? Further, this is obviously an impressive device, but I wonder how much of the price goed into the design, while it's something you're putting in a working environment, most often with it's back to a wall...

I'm usually a Microsoft hater but this looks to be surprisingly not garbage. Microsoft has probably seen that Apple is not as innovative as they used to be and looks like they are using that to test the waters with a stunning device and evolving their touch technology. Microsoft is actually changing direction which is nice, though I'm not liking how aggressively Windows is tracking their users.

Such an amazing device. Such a shame tho it runs n-trig, and the knob thing keeps sliding and a bit buggy in every test videos I've seen. I'll wait for 2nd-gen before considering this but I like the concept.

It is very cool and very practical product. So glad and surprised that it is Microsoft who innovated this year. But one problem, why do their products need to have Mac products' looks and feel?

Is it just me who wonders why they didn't try to implement the new 10 series of Nvidia GPUs, where you have desktop performance with low power consumption. A 1060 would be amazing for this display for productivity and gaming, not even talking of going 1060+

how well does it support weight? i like to put my elbow on the screen to support my weight? if i do this on the studio will it just collapse? the people using it seemed pretty careful not to put much weight on it...

the problem has always been the OS. I'll still go for iMAC.

what Microsoft fails to mention is that you'd be better off if they manufactured a monitor like this and attach it to a desktop mini tower, that way you have an option to upgrade - wouldn't that be cool and why have such smart designers haven't thought of that?

I think the release of this product is healthy for the competition, thus it's good for us, users. Apple needs to be shaken up as they have become really lazy and they just add small updates to their new products - not really taking advantage of recent development in pen technology (except ipad pro). I own 3 Macs and i had to purchase a separate wacom screen - and seeing this i have to admit that this product and concept is awesome. I even consider to use it at some point. But there is a but.. ..it runs on windows. Microsoft needs to understand that apple users have strong attachment to Apple's OSX because it is really rock solid (zero reinstall or slow down on any of my macs in 8 years), and very easy to maintain, plus very intuitive. To put this into context, I had to google up how to switch off Windows 7 when I first used it - and surprisingly there was a RU-vid video with +million views, which says all. So it's a great product but I wish microsoft would built a rock solid, intuitive and "pretty" os. They don't even need to reinvent the look-and-feel, just copy OSX concepts and make it 10x more stable. Then Apple will be really forced to wake up from their lazy sleep as windows has much bigger user base, and on top, they could eventually charm back apple users. And a shaken up competition is good for us, users (both windows and apple users) as these companies will introduce real, new innovations (like this Surface Studio) which will force the competition to follow. I bet Apple will also soon make a new iMac that will at least offer pen usage. So i am happy with this microsoft product. Well done, but please improve the windows os a LOT as well.

I think there is an assumption that higher quality machines produce better creative work, when the reality is a very affordable mid-range computer can provide a designer all of the technology needed to make outstanding work. Ironically enough, all of the demos I've seen so far showing off the tablet screen show people doodling rather than making actual professional work. And everything the knob does a mouse can click on in Photoshop. Both the Surface Pro and the new Macbook Pro are superfluous toys. Beautiful design, but not necessary, even for professionals.

I've been an apple user for almost a decade & it saddens me to see that they've fallen so far behind. Every year it's the same thing just slightly improved. I'm very impressed with Microsoft but will be sticking with Apple only because of the operating system. I hope someday Microsoft gets Windows right & I can leave Apple in the past.
