Surfers jump off dangerous rocks at Crescent Head Australia to save themselves a very long paddle.
This point is riddled with small boulders along the shoreline of the point.
In between some of the rocks are pointy sharp sea urchins.
Very risky jumping off the rocks or paddling through a small keyhole to enter the waves out the back.

What's your best gnarly story about jumping off the rocks to go surf?

At those very rocks. It was fine when I was young, but now I don't even bother. In between youth and old age, I went to jump from a dry rock there only to depart from my board in mid-air as my leash was caught on the rock. My board was washed up the gully and I went to retrieve it but found I could not move. My leash was now caught in two places on rocks. As waves drove me under water in the rocky gully I struggled to release my leg rope. Eventually succeeded and retrieved my board with surprisingly little damage, and with wounded pride I paddled out.

That gets my heart pumping seeing them stand on those rocks waiting for the waves. Hear me out....something like a ski lift but for surfers. A seat picks you and your board up at the beach and dumps you off a few hundreds yards off shore.

Doesn't look too bad. Safer than paddling from Southport across the bar to get to Straddie! The rocks at Burliegh heads could be dodgy as well, but better than a 10 foot shore-break.

Yer Lennox is much more difficult also in a good swell
