So true in China. I am attending my college in a city so far away from my home town so I cannot always visit her. Everytime I returned to home, she didn't know about what I am doing recently so had so less common topics. The only thing she always know about me is that what is my favorate food.

Hi shun. I actually cried watching this video. I am currently living in a different country, very far away from home. Your grandparents made me remember my family. I miss interacting with them. I miss laughing, talking and arguing with them. I hope to see them soon.

Never forget them in your every day life... I was going through a dark time in my life when I had to live away from my family for a long time. So what I did is I put up pictures of them and simply made sure to remember them during my day. Be hopeful regardless of the situation. A lot of people feel happiness is an experience, but I feel it is actually a product of hopefulness. Believe you will see them and be together again! And While you wait, simply to look at things postively as much as posible. You are not alone...God bless you.

There's something comforting about these far off places, places you went to visit as a kid and spent your summers, the small villages, the friendly people, the fact that everyone knows each other. It's sad that these places are dying out but at the same time I understand why.

The way your grandma laughed and touched her hair after you complimented her hairstyle reminded me of my grandma :( She also spoke in her own dialect, although I could communicate with her a little better since she was the one who raised me as a kid. I suddenly miss my grandma. She passed away while I was working abroad. It was one of the hardest and saddest part of my life. This video made me remember her a lot. People should visit and appreciate their grandparents as much as they can. It's not like we can see them everyday and have some quality time with them.

Ah, I don't know why I started crying seeing your grandparents becoming so happy. I live across the world from my grandparents and my grandpa, who also loved fishing, passed away when I graduated college. I had not seen him in over 3 years at that time and didn't get to see him at the end. Your grandparents' home feels so warm, I immediately remember the feeling of surprising my grandma a few years ago when I visited without warning as well (was also immediately fed against my will 😂) I hope you enjoyed your time with them fully!

My grandmother passed away two years ago and although I miss her, I never missed a chance to visit, help and chat with my grandparents. I still visit my grandfather often, even though he moved in with family 7 hours away. always love your family and give them the most expensive gift you can give them. your time. That grandparents forcing their Grandsons/granddaughters to eat the food they prepare is really accurate and kind of asian-y thing. Filipino grandparents usually do this too whenever their grand children visits them. 😊

I wonder if you actually understand how much LOVE you shared with your grandparents by showing up and spending time with them. This event, singularly, 'made' their whole year! Your grandparents will smile, giggle, and feel great about life for many many months, after your visit. Do your best to keep visiting, your time to engage with them is narrowing, quickly.

I don't know why but seeing her sitting there watching TV with a fly swatter in her hand is so endearing - like your typical Asian grandma just chilling and ready to stuff you with some good homecooked meals with you visit.

A touching video. It brings to mind a line from a film: How careful we would be if we knew which goodbye would be our last. We need to keep that in mind, always. I'd like to ask why someone in the prime of their youth would require an "energy drink" to drive for two hours. How weak are Japanese people? Getting jacked on caffeine (which is usually the number one ingredient in those beverages) isn't good for your health. Never need or use them myself for longer trips than that (and I'm in the prime of my advanced youth).

Sadly, the government decided to put us in lockdown again, starting Sunday at 5am.... I miss her. I realize this is am old video but thank you for making it. I am going to Japan this week to see my in-laws since my father in laws health is not great. Unfortunately I won’t have time to visit my own Ojiichan and Obaachan this time as I will only be there a few days. This warmed my heart and reminded me how precious family is. Please keep creating.

I got emotional watching this. Your grandma reminds me of my great-grandma that passed away recently. Whenever I surprise visited her she had the same reaction. Immediately offered food as well. I'm portuguese, but grandma offering food (its not really an offer as you can't decline) seems to be an universal experience hehe. It gonna be a her birthday soon and I miss her so much.

Your grandparents are so lovely! They remind me of visiting my husband’s mum. She too speaks a country dialect that even he sometimes has a hard time understanding. Same food as love culture.
