This is Space Engineers survival in hard mode, using some custom mods made by me and a collection of others from the awesome SE community this scenario should push my engineering skills to the limit while also creating opportunities for some really unique design solutions.
I've published the scenario to the workshop for you to 'enjoy' - good luck!

I hope you all enjoy this return to Survival Impossible :) For the next few episodes there won't be a schedule as such since I probably have 3-4 more very long (7+ hour) recordings to get a whole episode worth of stuff done but once those big projects are complete I hope to get it onto a schedule of 1 episode every 2 weeks

I'm SO GLAD to see the return of Survival Impossible that I already arranged it to watch it with a friend + popcorn when the episode is released! But take your time, as much as I love the series, as others said, I think we all prefer that you do it at your pace. Don't get burned out so you can gift us with your creativity and ingenuity for much, much longer! Thanks for your content : ).

I get that it takes a long time, I am just glad I can enjoy one more :D It's a relief every time I see another that I can set on a reminder :D Also, there has been many variants of new things people have built, and perhaps new turret systems are not a bad idea for the next episodes to come? Idk, just thinking outside the box, I will just go buy some popcorn and stuff :D

Yup, that would have worked too. It's funny, when I'm in a true survival situation like that I tend to just run with the first idea that comes to mind that feels like it has a high probability of success and stop trying to come up with anything better :P

So SO good to have this series back Splitise. Take as much time as you want for each episode, no need from me for a consistent SI schedule. Whilst the Rock Lobster is a capable vehicle, it is overall a mining vehicle. Slow, heavy, cumbersome. Since it's such a long journey along Death Route 66, having a faster storage vehicle might be beneficial, leaving the Lobster at the Magnesium mine with a small loading/unloading systems for it and then a nice truck (not an 18-wheeler or road train, think of a a single tipper truck) to take the supplies at a much quicker pace.

It may even be worth just making another Rock Lobster but fitted solely for cargo as the platform is pretty capable. I'll see how it goes once I start doing the mining proper as the rock lobster holds quite a bit so I may not need to make a huge number of trips

47:33 - build a timer block that is spamming "attach" on the hinges every few seconds. If unsure you can place it safely - let it do that every 30 seconds and at the same time toggle some lights off while it`s trying to attach. Voila, don`t need the antenna.

or build a connector in the bridge, connect the a vehicle to it and then access it via that antenna

@@IceQ78 that wouldn't work, as question was how to do it while piloting a craft that carries a "wire".

@@FlarGarg While hovering in place with the "wire", he can remote into the lobster (assuming that is what is connected to the bridge) and access the bridge grid.

Yea this series has shown a side of this game I personally have not witnessed before. The scale of certain things when he is flying through the ravine of those 2 mountains I had never noticed before, nor had I seen entire planets with that terrain

You could have enxtended the drills on the Rock Lobster to move its CoG forward a bit to help balence things when the Cheese Ball was docked. Still nice to see the Imposible return.

Here’s a tip for making those cables in the future: use a ration of 3:4:5 for the length of the tower, the anchor point, and the cable.

The bridge is a masterwork! That is a comback with a bang for SI and I definitly love it. I think the scale up was about time, one could hear you getting exhausted welding everything by hand. And dont stress too much about a schedule, since we are pretty chill and enjoy a quality video every now and then a lot more than a rushed and burnt-out video every other day. Just keep it coming as you already do!

What an amazing return to the series! It is so good to have it back! The bridge is AWESOME. Seeing as how huge of an endeavour this bridge has been, it would stand to reason to have a few weapon installments built in. Maybe some Fort Capac built up into the mountain ridge above it? Also, it may be time to upgrade the Forts with new weaponry!

Thanks so much, I'm super proud of how it turned out :) As to defenses though, I think it's pretty unlikely it'll get hit as I'll only be driving over it on occasion and the rest of the time the reavers should be coming after my home base and all the antennas there :P

A suspension bridge. And I thought the mini infiltration drone / cluster bomb / cruise missile RU-vidr was nuts. Part of me wants to see the bridge work, part of me wants to see the Clang physics freak out and deny friction (see: w4sted's recent videos) or just turn the bridge into a massive bomb.

@@Splitsie Well, they don't *have* to be. ;) After your success at crossing a massive chasm with a clang bridge, real cables might be just the challenge for an engineer seasoned by an excursion around two worlds. A Master Builder who can claw his way up a mountain while attached to a runway doesn't really have limits. =)

Rock lobster seeds a varient thats just a flatbed truck to haul the welder. For extra points have extended legs for landing/take-off stability.

Something that makes Space Engineers such a cool game is that in 1.9 g and thin atmosphere you can actually calculate the thrusters you will need based on the information given

For a welder in that gravity, you definitely want a tender vehicle to cart it around, charge, and haul materials. Why not convert that launch vehicle out back that's been sitting around for like two years? :) 3 batteries is enough power output to run your lifting thrusters and, I think, 8 small ones at full for 15 minutes. You can put a bunch more batteries on the tender to recharge when you come back for refills, which would be 2 tons you're not lugging around all the time. You can probably lose 2 of the side thrusters in each direction for another 2.5T or so savings.

You might be able to stop the lobster from tipping backwards by simply extending the drill pistons. It would move the center of mass fairly far forwards

Hey Splitsie, I'm finally caught up in this series now, yay, I did want to say, I'm not site of you are aware, but the welding pad mod also gives you two modes for grinding, if you hold down control it will separate that block from the grid, and if you right click and hold whilepointing at a block first, then then grind it, it will only be able to grind that block, thank you for the series, it's been awesome to watch

I'm aware of the extra mode, though you won't have seen me use it much as it wouldn't have worked well in this series until recently when it was improved. In the past it would have scrapped a bunch of stuff from blocks removed that way, I was quite happy when Digi improved that side of things :)

another option for getting the attach trigger is a timer block doing an attach on all hinges every other second, perhaps with a light flash to let you time it, then you can panini in the cables without needing to construct and destruct an antenna

Epic epic epic bridge build! For the issue of not being able to access the bridge hinges for the detach-attach function, perhaps you could have either built a temporary connector to attach a vehicle that had an antenna already or built a hinge/rotor with a small head and put together a small grid antenna as it would have been obviously cheaper and easier than a large antenna. Regardless, you engineered around the problem and built a fantastic looking structure! Cannot wait for the next part. Cheers

Instead of building a crago hauler you can drive both ways. Make a roadtrain-truck and switch the side you connect the truck to the trailers.

omg, that just gave me an idea for an amazing prank, build a catwalk bridge like this, have a player used to it, then one day cut huge hole in it and project the missing bit, doom their rovers to road runner gags

Good stuff o God have I have missed SI, I have my own SI playthrough as well and I love seeing how you tackle issues compared to me. My suggestion for your building ship is go one large small grid container and one medium, I originally built one similar to what you have created and it was just to small and the trips to restock vs power consumption just didn't add up, Having a larger ship to carry more but spend much less time in the air worked better for me. You will also find now that you have the cheese ball the scope of your builds will grow, I struggled for power until I built my lake crawler/mobile dill (your ice mine) and power platform and hydrogen/battery ship (paneni). One other suggestion is to but a band of light armor blocks around the sides and the bottom of the builder as one or two bumps very quickly distroys a battery or thruster causing a speedy fall to the ground.. Then you are left picking up components from the ground and you cry inside... I've done this a few times. So glade to see this series back HUGE THUMPS UP FROM ME

Glad to see the series make a return. I like the looks of the bridge, it's a shame it isn't bigger or that there aren't more towers, but I understand that building something like that takes a long time. Curious as to why the tower isn't in the middle of the bridge, but maybe there just wasn't any good support there.

You really need to create a road from the base to the entrance of the mountain. Probably mostly using voxel tools, maybe a bit of drilling, perhaps a short bridge where needed… you need to think of that is what would be built in normal circumstances. Also… a longer race then ;) also also… it’s good to have SI back! Ow I will have to complain about Rvenhurst before you decide to go back ;p

The plan is to make waypoint markers for that route with Forts Capac so I might try to drop some of them in before I do the voxel painting that way I know the route :)

This video brught me back after abandoning SE for 15 Month. Now trying a new game on Pertam. Mostly Vanilla because I'am not as good as you yet. I really enjoy your single player series. Keep on the good work.
